Hey y'all- ive been going down to my father -in-laws cabin up near the 62MM around brown bend for a couple of years now but always have trouble catching fish consistently. Are there any places I can find a good fishing report for the "upper" part of Lake Ozark since it seems to fish much differently than all the big dock stuff down the lake? I generally fish for crappie, bass, whites but would also like to get good at catching some walleye and catfish up that way. My son Fisher just turned 4 and im trying to keep him interested in fishing so i usually try to target whatever is biting the best. Any advice for finding consistent information on species and technique for that part of the lake would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I'm headed down to fish taney in early june with my dad and since he is getting up there in age and not able to wade fish as much i thought it would be fun to do a day of guided fishing on either table rock lake or lower taneycomo I've got the wade fishing part covered. Anyone have any suggestions on reasonably priced guides for either lake? I would love to get into a fairly mixed bag of fish. All suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Andy

Just stayed there 2 weeks ago. They are always open, even though they dont seem to be. You can be assured that the owner or his grandson will be by during the evening to pick up the camp fee of 5 bucks per person and sell you some wood. I dont have a phone number though...sorry!

The Ozark Mountain Ranch is home to Inman Hollow, where a small civil war battlle(scurmish) took place. I cant really do the story justice so you are better off staying there sometime and having the friendly owner give you the full story. He is quite the local historian! As for camping it has some nice flat areas and also some very secluded areas. Its fairly reasonable and its a bit away from the crowds. Good luck!

Dude, Head past the park office, past the park campround, til the road turns to gravel, go over the dry creek past eagles nest general store, and past the nice little dust catcher cabin on your right, next left you see will be Ozark Mountain Ranch campground. Nice place away from crowds with some history. Good luck

Quite the stir I have created with my initial comments. I can certainly see points on both sides of the table and I don't take any of it as complaining or over the top. I am excited to see that we have so many passionate outdoors men and women out there that care about the woods and waters we enjoy...no matter what side of an issue they fall on. This board is a pretty good litmus test for that! Its not about who's wrong and who's right, its mostly opinion on matters like this. We take a great deal of our personal experiences into account when espousing our opinions on any matter so facts are relevant but not necessary for a strong opinion.

Zander, Take a chill pill dude and enjoy the snarkiness and sarcasm. Never said I was wronged by an otter. I just have a problem with the major population imbalance that the MDC has created with their science experiment. Same thing could be said for Deer and Turkey as well. They negatively impact farmers, motorists, urban homeowners & landscape artists. But dammit they sure do bring in lots of revenue so we hunters sure dont seem to mind as much when we have the opportunity to harvest 10 deer a year and several turkeys.

I agree with you Brownieman. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that these streamlined predators would much rather feed on a tasty trout or bass versus 15 crayfish for the same amount of calories. It most likely takes them the same if not more energy to catch the crayfish. Although I am sure that they are opportunistic feeders I believe that they lean heavily towards fish all year round. I would like to see the MDC impose an open season on trapping and hunting for otters to get the competitive balance back in check. They are an invasive species in 2009 vs 1909 because we artificially stock streams and ponds today to support more sportfishing. For those to wish to argue that they add to the whole recreational experience and balance of the ecosystem I urge you to go to a zoo the next time you get the urge for that warm and fuzzy otter porn. Thats right, just get all dressed up in your Bear Grylls attire with survivor knife and fake compass and head on over to the zoo to get your fix of otter. I know of abso*#&kinlutely nothing that they bring to the balance of the Missouri ecosystem. Sorry, just couldn't resist that little Dennis Leary moment.

Holy Shnikes! 5 Inches of rain for the week down there! I just got a new pair of Kayaks and I am itchin to use them before I start a new job next week, but I was hoping for a lttle more low and slow h20 down there so I could ease into the kayak game. Maybe have to bring one down and size up the walk wade vs float. Thanks for the info!!!

Anyone know what the water down at Parker's and Baptist looks like this week. I was thinking about heading down and fishing but we've had a bunch of rain in Kansas City this week and I didnt pay attaention to see if or how much rain they had down on the Current. Any local info would be much appreciated as it could save me a 5 hour drive.

Sam, Do you think the water will be down to nymphable conditions by this weekend with limited rain this week? I havent been down once this year yet because of work and the water levels and its just killing me!

Jenny, Thanks for the info. I have never fished the tailrace. How does one get more info on where it is located and the lures and tactics? I fish the Tuttle Creek and Clinton Lake tailraces in Kansas quite a bit, but I've never done the Truman Lake thing. Sounds like it is the place to be for fish right now. Whats the length and daily limit for species on the tailrace?
