  1. Phil, I ought to know but....who's Quentin?
  2. I'd like to get a sticker for the sides of my boat that read in nice big letters: " I REPORT ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES & POACHING!"
  3. Fished twice last week in trophy water. On Thursday eve, As we motored up into the trophy water in the fog, we can across a boat with 2 guys in it fishing with big ol slip floats. I asked if they were having any luck and they they nervously said not much. Then i asked what they were using and they said, "Mostly power bait." I then cut my engine and informed them of the rules. They then slowly headed downstream. They'd done that before. They get into water before dark...let the fog hide them. I'm sure they couldnt believe I was coming their way. I was idleing my 4 stroke and think I was on them before they heard me. As a reminder..... Phil, what are the numbers we can call when we come across people fishing with bait, or keeping fish in the slot above Fall Creek. Thanks.
  4. My son Tim and I arrived at Taney at about 7am Monday morn and motored above Fall Creek into trophy area. Was already getting warm! Came across a guy wading up to his armpits in the fog. He had his arms & head out of the water only. I thought it was a goose at first. Thank God I saw him. Word to the wise if you're reading this....not smart!!!!! Fished in upper stretches for several hours. Caught several although it was slower than it'd been in a long time. Biggest was about 14" inches or so. Quite a few boats in the trophy area... most were pounding the bluff. Found fish on the shallow side...away from the traffic. Caught some on midges but did best after wind picked up. Then we switched to mini-jigs that bounced on the waves. Did well with those. Kept our limits of 11" inchers for a fish fry. Phil, took you up on your offer to clean our catch at your fish cleaning station. Bought ice & sodas & stuff to pay you for the hospitality. Thanks my friend.
  5. I'm glad Brigman finally caught a decent fish on one of his fishing trips. His Thursday articles were starting to get depressing!
  6. As usually seems the case, I have out-of-town guests coming in Friday night. So... if I were to go fishing with you; you'd have to take me home with you as I'd have no place else to sleep. (The Mrs. can be so touchy on things like that!) I will take a rain check on Friday but will be in touch.
  7. Leonard, I've been known to be tight-lipped over ...wild turkey locations, ...mushroom patches, and favorite fishing holes. I can be darn near mute when it comes to secret fly patterns. When you want to go? ~loo10
  8. I knew people who were killed over "secret formulas".
  9. Are the crappies on the banks up there? I saw the MDC report last week and your water temps were HIGH. I like to come up when they're right on the banks 1-2' deep. Jeez....Have I already missed it??
  10. Did the rain color Taney any?
  11. Very cool photo. Thanks. Not as big as the chubs I caught this weekend on Taney... But...shor nuff purdier!
  12. Duly noted.
  13. Arrived late morning and fished until 5 or so. Worst time of the day. Very hot sun...LOTS of WIND. Did I say "LOTS of WIND"??? A real challenging day with 2 guys sharing a boat flinging fly rods. Caught lots-n-lots-n-lots of rainbows - no browns today. Biggest were 15 1/2 inchers. All on #16 beadhead midges. 18 inches deep. As long as it had red in it...it worked. And to think....I coulda worked on my yard today.
  14. Hey, we can't all be lady's men like Shaffer-Boy! Ha-hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (Oh....I hurt myself laughing!)
  15. I don't remember Babler having such grey hair. I thought guiding was dream job!
  16. Kayaks on Taney??? Hmmmmmm...... are you a strong swimmer?
  17. 30+ fish ain't nothing to sneeze at. That 4 incher...think it spawned in there or escaped the hatchery. I had a friend caught on about that size several years ago. Beautiful fish. Parr marks & everything.
  18. Leonard, Family matter came up. Will not be able to get down there Sunday night as planned. Hope you get this. Another time soon my friend. loo10
  19. Feeling the need for a little night fishing below the dam. Think I'll go tomorrow night (Sun) eve. Anyone interested in meeting up & keeping each other company? Share a picture if we land a big one? Maybe a brew in the parking lot afterwards? Let me know. loo10 (No this ain't an offer for "Brokeback Fly-fishing"! My wife just prefers I not night-fish alone.)
  20. Looked at TroutCam at 5:55PM Monday nite. Came up 1st try. Lots-n-lots of minnows. Few trout wearing really big smiles. Looks like the trout are happy with all the stupid chubs swimming amongst them. We call that..."E-Z Pickins'"
  21. I wish I could laugh at your apparent sarcasm.
  22. If it fits....bring it. Could be at freezing....might be at 70. You know Missouri.
  23. Are any of you honestly surprised????? As with most things, given enough time and people, they'll ruin a good thing. First, it was jet ski's popping up. Then,it's tournaments on as many weekends as can be arranged. (It's good for business if nuthin' else) Now it's going to be not one, but two, new big marinas. (As long as they satisfy the big money folks) Next, casinos. Why? 'Cause the high-rollers will demand it. And they'll tell us, it'll be good for us. I remember when Taney was a quiet, peaceful way to spend a day and catch some trout. Oh the times - they are a changin'!
  24. Greg, Rods are certainly an individual thing. But take 3 rods...all same size & weight and cast them. You will notice subtle differences in the three. Buy the one you like best. Not one "like" it. Buy the one you cast! All rods, even like models, have small differences. My 3 favorite rods never left my hands once I found them. I cast them, Bought them, & took them home to meet Mama. When your mechanics are on.... the line will shoot through a Scott rod. Alot like hitting the "sweet-spot" on a baseball or golf-ball. It's a "bea-u-ti-ful thing!
  25. "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh........ Booo-hoooo" Come on Michael, There's no crying in fly-fishing! No time to fish? P-lease! You go so much I heard they were going to create a new outlet and name it after you.
