Friday night Taney Strippers meeting...
loo10 replied to Terry Beeson's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I'm showing my age but this just cracked me up. Sometimes we fly-slingers really are like Otter, Boone, & D-Day. -
ORR....beautiful fish. Congrats! loo10

Not to mention all the Great Blue Herons who will pick your bones clean before the taxidermist...er...undertaker can take care of your body. That said, Im taking all next week off on vacation to risk the dangers of Taneycomo. .......'cause thats just the kind of guy I am.

Heck, the development down stream drained it... & killed all the moss and bugs. Then the renegades blocked the channel at Fall Creek so now there's just bait fishermen and poachers up there. It's lawlessness. Heck, I hear the Baldknobbers are back draining gas from your boats while you sleep. Plus there's Alphie & Ralphie Bolin's 5th cousin twice-removed, Leonard, who I heard tell, had killed 4-5 people at night. Buried them near outlet 1. That's causing all the erosion down there. Not a safe place at all. Stay home!!!

Terry, dont we just crack ourselves up?

A Taney guru... of the Royal Order of The Leech. As Forest Gump says, "He's more famous than Davy Crockett."

Brownieman, you are correct sir! The fog this year has seemed to be the worst I ever remember. I launched my boat at 6pm on June 15th and could not see the bottom of the ramp at Cooper Creek. Went out briefly with my future son-in-law and with four units running, night approaching, and the thick fog.... we kinda lost track of where we were. Now I've fished Taney ALOT for years & years and I can't remember that happening before. We couldnt see the lights on the docks until we were almost right on them. We finally called it quits as it was starting to freak us out. -
Im not arguing anything you guys are saying. I do not run my boat up that far unless MANY units are generating. Why? No great moral reason..... I just dont want to tear up my boat. I too am talking about the water from Fall Creek to Lookout. My boat (a Lund tiller) must run the channel. I have no option. I will be cordial to you as I go by... I will ask which side you wish me to move past you... I will apologize for bothering you. But if you backcast your flyrod and try to hit me, or try to cast into my boat as I go by..... don't be surprised if your line gets cut; accidents happen. I think that's fair. In the words of Rodney King.... "Cant we all just get along?"

The problems "up there" are not the individuals who have chosen not to fight the "trout park" atmosphere near the chutes by fishing from their boats. It is the individuals who play dumb and fish with bait. I see a "violator" 100% of the time I'm up there.

Im sorry to hear about your less than stellar day. It'll be better next time.

Define "up there".

"Michael has some good headlights, but..." Well, Ooo la la -
Interesting discussion........ I fish from my boat above Fall Creek the majority of the time. I always feel bad when I have to move past another fisherman; whether it's in the restricted area or even at Short Creek. The days we can get away to fish are too precious and I hate to disturb another angler. Unfortunately, I don't know how to avoid it sometimes. As Bill said, if you are in the channel... where else am I to navigate my boat? I motor down and idle thru but sometimes I have to pass pretty close. My boat, when trimmed up, floats pretty darn shallow and I'll try to fish away from you but sometimes it's very difficult. Hate looks...flipping me the bird...or actually cussing me isn't going to help matters. I defend your right to wade as strongly as I defend my right to fly cast from my boat's deck. Believe it or not, my biggest issue lately has been people in drift boats practically rowing right up my backside.

Michael, Glad to have you back. I seem to have some of yo' Ace of Spades material. Might have to do the "hoot owl thang" and go to Taney late one night. loo10

Holy Moly.... you must be in Mrs. DuckyDoty's doghouse. Otherwise, surely you'd spend some of that time doin' the luv thang!

Went down to Taney with a buddy this past weekend... fishing Fri eve and Saturday. Fished Lookout to Fall Creek both days. Caught lots of fish. Usual stuff...midges, rapalas, sculpin patterns. Here's a picture of one from Friday night. Two things of note: 1st - Saw game wardens floating below Lookout watching through binoculars. It was great to see them write a few tickets. 2nd - Never saw so many fishermen acting dumb about using bait up there. I spoke to several people and they basically just ignored me. I'd sure like to see bait fishermen in the trophy area lose their tackle and all when they get busted. Maybe when that word gets out, they wouldn't be quite so bold! loo10 By the way...broke off on a nice fish using a midge. Lost indicator and all. If you see him swim by and can hook him.... don't bother copying that midge pattern....it ain't no good! ha

In Alaska.......... Oh I am so jealous. Went to Alaska in 2000 & I've said since.... "If I lived within an hour of a salmon river, I wouldn't be able to hold down a job!"

I've been hoping to see some photos from Phil. Where you at Mr. Lilley? Camera broke?

Well, this may be the worst fishing report I've ever written. Report in Friday's Spgfld News-Leader said crappie were hitting everything in Gravois arm so I met a buddy there Sat morn. Well, that's NOT what happened. Water temps 70+ degrees. Too warm for spawning crappie. Put in at Coffman Beach off Rt. Y. Bogue Bay crystal clear. I've never seen it that clear before. Visability down 10 feet or so. Crappie spawn was over! But we did catch several nice bass as they are bedding. And snakes.....saw enough of those for a lifetime. Spoke to several other fishermen and they were doing well fishing for bass. We then traveled up Indian Creek and found water that wasnt so clear. Thought we'd give it a try. Well, all we found up there were some boats full of topless gals. Probably scared off the fish cause we didnt catch much up there. Went back to Bogue Bay and bass fished. Caught several just under 15" so the trip was fun anyway. Highlight of trip was we stopped at Hillbilly Heaven up Gravois arm for some gas and food. Real nice folks & very hospitable. They cooked us some excellent burgers..... otherwise, we mighta starved to death! ha Thanks to the gang at HH. Used to fish Lake of Ozarks alot. But it wasnt like this. The large boats sure had the water rough! Dont know when I'll be back. All-in-all........... Caught plenty of sun, saw some topless sunbathers, snakes galore, and even caught a few bass. Sure beat planting schrubs! loo10

EXCELLENT!!! I had to be out of town last night and was afraid I'd missed it. Checked to see if there'd been a report and saw it was rescheduled. Terrific news as far as I was concerned. I'll definately be there next Thursday the 22nd. -loo10

There are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many things I want to say; but proper decorum prohibits it here!

Fished last night from 6-9pm by boat near Lookout. Beautiful out. Running 2 generators...water up 5 feet. Got a mouth full of midges heading upstream. Thought it might be a great night. Nope. Uh-huh. Caught one 13" rainbow. It was a s-l-o-w night. Headed back to Springfield after a little Wendy's chili. loo10
