I have had absolutely no problems with Arkansas, I have always just crushed the barb down. I'm not sure what new law you are talking about because there has always been the areas that require no barbs. The agent that was causing all the fisherman to get citations for barbs on the hook that were even mashed down. The way the story got told to me was he give the wrong man a citation and he was removed form the area. So I would say keep on just mashing them down. Michael

See now Leonard is talking of a flickering light at the stairs, I'm not sure what is going on.(LOL)

yea waz up with that. I actually tripped and went all in. I fish Taneycomo about 125-150 nights a year and that was the first time that I fell in, in about 5 years. Ps: I was surfing the net and I was on Google and it asked me if I wanted to down load the Google toolbar. I said what the heck so I did. It actually has a spell check on it for the forums that you type on pretty cool no more missed spelled words from me. The reason I brought this up is that some one said something about this issue a few months back that we did not have spell check on the forum. Michael

Princeton Tec and E-gear will be your friends, they have some nice head lamps that start out at $15 and go up to around $80. Once you start fishing Taney at night a lot you will learn the place like it is the back of your hand. I'm sure Leonard is like myself and can tell you where every rock is, however with that said there has been a few nights that I'm sure that some one just put the rock there. There has been a few nights that all I needed was soap and a towel. My favorite light is the Eos and or the Apex form Princeton Tec I have both and like them equally. Michael

I have been told in the past that on Corp of engineers lakes that any boat launch that is made of concrete has to be made public. I'm not sure if that is true I will make a few phone calls and ask. I had inquired about it about 6 years ago because of a boat ramp that I wanted to launch from and it was gravel and that's when the guy on the phone told me that. Michael

Any thing under a 9 wt I will use my left hand for the larger rods I will use my right hand for one reason the ability to pick and reel line up faster. So I would have to say fresh water I use my left hand and salt water I use my right hand. So for the poll sake both hands Michael

Micheal Kyle replied to Jeremy Hunt's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
I lover the streamer brush with the micro legs already in it. I think that was one of the coolest ideas that E.P. came up with. I have tied quite a few leech's form it, and they seem to work extremely well. My favorite colors are the black for night and the root beer for during the day. Michael -
That is a mental picture that I did not need!

That one is a little hard to explain but if you will take the thread and and wrap it around your 2 fingers then pull the thread back fver the back of the hook then take you two fingers and wrap the thread around the eye of the hook twisting while you do it. Make 3-5 wraps then pull with the thread that is in the bobbinstaright back that will tighten the knot. Or they make a tool called a whip finisher that you can use and it works perfect, a little frustrating on learning the tool but very effective after you learn the tool. Good luck and like they have said in the past do not be afraid to ask. Michael

Terry, Here are the good channels if you have cable or satalite! 151 lots of fishing -V.S. 153 lots of killing- outdoor channel 217 lots of boats- water 219 lots of fishing, killing, and boating-mens channel Basicaly what I'm saying with those 4 channels when you get healed you should be an expert in every division of the outdoors possiable. And hey if you miss that show on how to cast and blast out of a boat on Taney wait a couple of hours it will be back on for the 10,000th time. Gee I guess what I'm saying is that you will be the rerun king. I'm glad that everything went well. Michael

I have decided to go duck hunting that is the last day that I will be able to go up in the midle zone. It has been a great year at special place. So I promised Jess that I would take him one last time up there. I know that he will be ready for the polar bear plunge. When the first shot cracks he will be in the water. He is the best hunting partner any one could have no talking back, no giving you a hard time when the ducks just keep flying just that weird look, and what I say always goes. Just as long on the cold nights I give him a warm place to sleep and some extra food. I hope that every one has a great day fishing. Michael

I'm not sure if you picked those up here in my shop or not but, I have been selling the heck out of them here as of late. I picked those up here in the store about a year ago and I think they wroked great. I love the idea that you do not have to uncoil the leader. I would have to agree with tim in that you will have to strech them out, they should roll the flies out goodand stay straight and not tangle. Let us all know what you think of them. One other thing for the price they are not bad aswell. 12.95 for five leaders. Michael

LMW It was great to meet you the other day down at Taney, I hope that you did not get the sickness that I had. If you all ready have the lenses that will fit the Nikon and it sounds like you do you may want to take a look at the D70. I bought that for my wife a couple of years ago and it is great and under 1000. If you want to spend a little more you may take a look at the D200 just for the frame it should run around 15-1600. Just my 2 cents worth good luck. Michael

I had a guide trip yesterday and it was awsome when we had schelued the trip it was going to happen on Wednesday with rain in the forcast last week we decided to change untill Thursday. We met at the shop at 7am and arrived down at Taney at 8am I was not for sure how much rain we had got but when I called the dam and the water level was 701.9 I knew that we must have gotten quite a bit. At 11 I called again and the water level was 702.3. The water was extremly muddy and pretty swift with all the feeder creeks bringing in the run off. I had Clay and Jim start down by where the point is and we fished what I call a transition zone with all the water comming in there was a huge mud line and clear line. I had tied a black mohair leech on for them having them cast to the mud line and strip very fast through and they instantly started picking up fish. Nothing of real size quite a few bows Clay caught one Brown that would go 18"-19". The rain started to let up and the fish started comming to the surface. I put a BWO #16 and they caught more fish mostly small bows. When the rain would come in and push the fish back down I tied on a crackle back #12 and they would pick more fish up mostly small bows. When we were fishing with this setup we fished up in the clear water and they were right on the south bank. By this time it was about noon and really started to rain a lot with some sleet mixed in so we moved up top to fish between 1&2. In the moving water all we used were scuds and San Juan Worms brown, both were a #12 with a size 6 spilt shot and one palsa. I'm not sure how many fish they caught with that setup but it was a bunch. Up in those waters there were quite a few nice bows the largest one they caught was abot 17". At around 1:00pm Clay wanted me to fish because he said he learned better by watching. I chuckled and said you want to watch me I thought to myself he must not know me very well but I did fish. There was a point where if you did not catch a fish you were missing a fish on every cast. I remeber one point several times in row that all three of us had a fish on. What a day I really thought that there would be more people out but we were the only ones there untill about 2:30-3pm some people started getting there.I would have to say between the two of them that they caught 50 fish/person and when I started fishing I had around 25 what a day. I would have posted this last night but we had no power up at our hous and when we got here to the shop I just turned right around and left. I live 40 miles north of the shop and it took me 1hour and 15min to get home. we had about 3inches of sllet and ice and about 8 inches of snow. Michael
