Now you know how I feel.(LOL) I think that the SWPA sometimes sells more power than was needed so they are contracted to run anyway. I could be wrong. Becuase it sure does get frustrating. Michael

Phil, I talked with Bill Butts last night here at the shop and we got talking about all the suckers up there in the trophy area. I told him that I thought the fishing has been kind of poor since the influx of the suckers. Bill agreed with me on that he too thinks that there can be so many suckers in the area that they are taking the trouts food source and the trout will vacate untill the suckers retreat. Bill also said that there was a study done way back when like the mid to late 80's. I think that might have been the time that you were on the committe for friends of the stream. I may be wrong about the name. I just did not want people to think I was crazy for thinking this that's why I took so long to bring it up. If you would happen to know anything about this could you let us all know. Michael

Yes they do. All the new reels meaning the Litespeed and the Velocity spools will interchange. They have actually changed the frame aswell. I will have the new reels in hand 11/1. Michael

Had a nice float Saturday afternoon. The Wind was not to cooperative for fishing, plus bright skies compounded the task at hand. Caught a few Smallmouth and Kentuckies, no big fish but had decent sizes running 12 to 14 inches. Caught all fish subsurface trying out a new fly I have demised, which worked great. No info available on this fly yet, and I still have a few kinks to work out to make it perform better, hopefully. jim

vanven The Simms womens waders are great and last for a long time. I do have them in stock and would be happy to ship to you just call me 417-889-6548. I have sold quite a few of these waders to the local women that fly fish and I do not think that any of them would complian about how they fit. They are made and fitted for women by women. And for the price I think there the best womens wader on the market $179. Just let me know Michael

Fishing was not all that bad the only problem was finding bigger fish I think that the biggest fish that we caught was 16-17 inches. I used everything from a mohair leech to a bunny zonker. With no moon The darker colors were working the best purples, blood red, ace of spades. We started fishing around 10 and quit around 2, Dan that was us sitting on the pinic tables when you and your wife walked by. We were waiting on a buddy to quit. I did here quite a few fish busting the top of the water that sounded of good size most of the time when that is going on at night they are Browns. Betwwen the four of us we probally had 40 fish. It's getting real close to being very hot day and night. I would say that the numbers of fish we caught were lean but the numbers of browns are up. I would say that I had 50% browns that night. Sorry I did not pay attention to the midge theme. I will tie a brassie. motrutbum is hard--- (LOL) Michael

motroutbum, Why don't you run the show this time since all you do is hang out in a fly shop in Durango. We all know that people that run or hang out in fly shops have all the time in the world. (LOL).. I would love to host it but the next month I think I am only in town for about 1 week total. It's that time of the year when my Knight and Hale prostaff starts to make me work. I will tell you right now that I will tie a mylar bunny zonker. I have used it for years at Taney and it works great. The great thing about this fly is that it will work on White Bass and Stripers. It seems to be a great all around baitfish patteren. Michael

All presidents are welcome that I know of.

I'm in

Me to Danoinark I hope that I'm not wrong Because I know myself better than anyone and I do not like to make people mad. So with that said I will bring it up.
-
I knew about it on the White I did not know about it on the Norfork. If you would like I will bring it up at the meeting.
-
Danoinark I'm not sure what you are talking about is this a conservation issue that they could donate some money to. Terry you are correct it's a bargin and I feel the same way that there should be more people invloved. I will be at the Presidents meeting unless something happens and makes it where I can not go.I will be happy to address anyones issues for them. One more thought with Gulf coast starting with Tx, Ls, Ms. That is going to pull a lot of clubs out of the council and with that goes the funding from the clubs. They have a conclave planned on the books for may 18,19,20 in Lake Charles Ls. . Lefty Kreh is the main man there so with that said is something going on behind the senes to cause this. Just a thought
-
I am not saying that the conclave is not woth it. I'm saying that there may need to be some intervention on how they spend the money. Yes since I am president of the Southwest Missouri Fly fishers I will be there. I not sure why we need to pay Pat Smith $8,000/year. I'm not sure why the fee for a booth went up $100 50 cash and 50 donation.. I have talked to quite a few people here in the shop and these are there concerns and they are people that usally have booths down there and they are not going to have one this year. I do not think that everyone knows this but the SOC signed a 5 year contract with the fair grounds and the SOC gave them $2000 I was told that they had the option of $500, 2000 or 5000. I here it was for air conditioning when was the last time it has been hot enough down there that we would need air condtioning. I would like to think that they would be more concerned about the programs and coservation issues with the conclave. And what about the presidents meeting last year where the whole board step down because they did not agree with a pettetion that was passed around and signed by big namee people. If I Would have been there I would have said if they want to act like 2 year olds then so be it we do not need them. This is just the tip being a store owner I here and talk to a lot of people that are invloved or who used to be invloved with SOC and they seem to be fed up with antics. I'm not trying be rude or talk down about the SOC but I think that there are some items that need to be adressed. All I'm trying to do it get the facts straight so if I'm wrong plese tell me. I have been a long supportor of the conlclave and will continue to do so.
-
How much was that and will it be worth it. Have you ever thought about all the money and where it goes. I have and would like to know. Can't seem to get any answers from any one.
-
Hey with the Conclave right around the corner as in the first full weekend in October, I was Interested if anybody was going and to see what there thought's were and how they felt about the conclave or the SOC in general. I also was wondering if any body has any info on the new division of the SOC that is sopposed to be down from the Gulf coast of Florida to the Texas coast. Michael

Marcus and I had one terrific day of fishing. Fishing was outstanding for only fishing from about 7:30 til 11:00 am, when they sounded the Beer Thirty Alarm. I caught 30 fish and Marcus had 25. Few people present which made it even better to fish, not having someone cast over you or wade through the area your fishing. jim

murdoc I'm not sure if there is one on the site or not. If you google it you can find a lot of them out there. It is a real simple pateren to tie Take regular rabbit strip tie on a tail then take cross cut and palmer to the eye. I like to wrap my lead and I use 3x or4x long hooks. Great fly this time of year. Last night was a little slower than the night befor. I had a buddy down that had only fished Taney at night once or twice. Started out with the old stand by mohair leech and he picked up four fish. Then here came the great moon and the bright lights 3/4 I belive it was. With a few clouds still moving over I put the Ace of Spades color on for him and it worked great. He had several hooks up and misses. We would then venture up to the cable and Jim had a Brown that would go 18", a real nice male. As we worked our way up to the cable we had put a white mylar zonker on and were picking fish up all the way up and all the way back down. We fished pretty early last night for me started around 10 and fished untill 2 am. Funny thing they ran the water from 9pm-10pm. Not sure what or if that made a diffrence. Must have been some power they had sold in a contract. All in all a pretty good night. It sure has picked up in the last week compared to the last couple. Michael

You qualify for NATIONALS must be the ROD (LOL) Have to love the Scott Rods. Yea send me the fly I would love to try it. I don't think you know this but Kristina and I are comming back to Colorado the last week in September. Maybe you could come up to Estes and fish one day. On Friday I have a Private ranch booked on the Larime River Rod fees were cheap. And they limit to only 6 per week. if you wanted to come up on that Thursday or Saturday we could take the 3-4mile hike up to Spruce lake and fish. By then they could have snow Spruce lake is right at 10000'. A lot of Greenbacks could be a lot fun. Let me know. Michael

What a night Someone must have payed the electric bill because the switch was back on. I did not get down there untill 1:30-2:00am. and fished untill 5:00am. The fishing was great after the storms rolled through. I started way down by Point Royal and did not move. I had several fish last night that would measure 18-19 inches and a lot of them were Browns. I would say that 50% of the fish I caught were Browns. I did have one nice bow that would measure right at 21". Sorry no pics this trip I forgot to charge the camera befor I left. I Started the night out with mohair Leeches and they were working so well I decided that it was time to use some of my old time favs. I put on a purple bunny leech and picked fish up went to a black one and picked fish up. I went to one of my old stand by which is a bunny zonker with a peacok body and that worked. I ended the night using a brown wooly sculpin and fishing it right below the surface. That is what I picked up the nice bow on. I would have to say I had a least 40 fish if not more last night. I was down by myself and just had a blast. The fish were hitting so much last night that there were a couple of times were I was getting ready to move and reeling in my line and got hit. I hope that it will be like this all week and Fall. Leonard I hope it was a good night for you too. Michael
