  1. you all are a little bit south of me yet too. I may sneak out this evening in the cold and check today after the rain.
  2. Ok awesome. I think that I am in a good area then. we have an couple creeks that run by my house. Last year was my first year looking and I didn't get out until late in the season. I found maybe 20 big yellows and even more that were too old to pick. I just walked the creek and found them in the same areas as you mentioned. I checked this past weekend and found nothing. so I am hoping that I am just early and they haven't popped yet.
  3. will this cold stretch stall them now?? or should I still be out looking after this rain/snow?
  4. I am a beginner at this. I know to look for elm and ash trees etc. but is there a certain soil or floor growth to look for or stay away from? Just looking for hints that point me in the right directions to find some. I also know morel hunting is like fishing, there is no perfect way to find them, but I don't want to waste time in areas that wont have any. thanks guys.
  5. There fixed it
  6. Lol. darn auto correct on these phones
  7. Should be close. What will this cold stretch do to them? Will it stall it a little?
  8. sounds good riverrat!
  9. I too am interested in the easiest way to catch some crappie. I will have my kids (8 and 6) on their maiden voyage fishing from the boat. I want to be able to throw and minnow on a float and catch some fish. Any advice??? Locations? etc. would be greatly appreciated. Won't be this weekend, but maybe next weekend.
  10. Great people there. We go to the same church in Vienna with them. I will surely stop in and get my decal. Maybe Sunday. thanks riverrat.
  11. I hate it too. But in the cold weather, if you aren't throwing it you are getting beat by it.
  12. He wasn't in the Graind Glaize. He was fishing the piling way up the niangua near ha ha tonka state park. I was near Bridal cave ind it was chocolate milk. I guess the spring must have pushed some clean water in farther up the niangua. I heard the guy didn't know where the weigh in sites were and drove all the way back to PB2 to weigh it.
  13. I sucked. very tough for me. fished niangua one day and above hurricane deck the other.
  14. nice. sounds like the fish are starting to get going.
  15. hows the lake look this morning? I hear they are running water? was going to fish the nianguas this weekend but not sure of the water conditions there.
  16. Bass fished for maybe 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. from about 9-11am I couldn't buy a bit. went back out from about 3-5pm and caught a small limit. maybe 11lbs. caught five fish, all pomme keepers. Biggest was probably about 3.5 on a channel swing transition with a wiggle wart. the rest of the fish were all caught out of one small cove on a shad rap. steeper side of the cove an more towards the back.
  17. These guys are awesome to deal with. make it very easy! www.reclending.com Great guys that are also fishermen.
  18. man I hate results and no report of how the fish are being caught. Anybody have any insight on what the bass are doing?
  19. Looking for piles. Side imaging really helps.
  20. What part of the lake?
  21. Thanks guys. that is the information I am looking for. Now if they would just answer their phone so I can be sure someone will be around in a few days.....
  22. I am sure they do, but I don't like a couple things. They are much more expensive.....in the ballpark of nearly double the cost. and they are only open seasonally. Whitesides is open and has water all year round. so that is a plus. Whitesides also includes cable television and trash with the rent so that helps.....good entertainment for the kids during bad weather.
  23. Yeah, it does look good. Problem is, we will be coming from Rolla. I would like to keep it on the Pittsburg side of the lake due to travel.
  24. Spring break for us next week and we planned on pulling the camper down to the Harbor to camp but to also go and pick out a seasonal lot at Whitesides where we decided we want to go. We went and looked at it last fall and liked it. Well now, I go their website and there is no content, just FOR SALE BY OWNER. Can anyone in the area or familiar with the situation enlighten me as to what is going on? I posted about Hidden Acres before and I recall a couple that stay down there. Maybe you can help. Can we still get a site for the season? Thanks
