See what I mean... Travs last post just proves... He just don't get it.. I'm betting your out there with a Med/heavy bass rod 17lb test line just horseing them in right and left right Trav ? I'll bet you don't even need a net now lets see you land one in the teens with a 7x tippet and a #22 midge I like your pics Leonard enough from me... PK

John19... your kidding in your post right? You got to be... because nobody could be that..... well I'll just leave it at that... PK

I just got back.. I fished last Friday and Saturday.. Yes it was cold and they were running a lot of water.. we fished from a boat and drifted powerbait in the mornings until we got our limit real fast and then fished in the trophy area using white jigs.. countdown Rapala's.. little cleo's.. and caught fish all day.. although we couldn't take much more of the cold Saturday and left at 11am... was a good weekend.. little finger on my left hand still numb.. LOL! PK

Yes... a get together to fish would be a Great idea.. whats the last saturday for C & R ? feb 2nd or 9th ? PK
-
Was just drifting the jig uner an indicator about 18" or so.. and it seemed they were either hitting hit right away on the fall or during line pick-up.. it's been a while since I've been the one that was nailing all the fish and someone asks me what i'm using.. I got all these scuds and midges- glow balls (etc) and funny that the thing you get away from is the thing you know best... fishing the jig... Has to be one of the BEST all around lures for all species.... and I didn't even think of it... The Chota boots... I can't say enough... PK

Fished Saturday with a cpl buddies.. we fished 8 to 4, from horn to horn and all had a good day.. speaking for my self.. I started of with small zebra midges #18-20 red and black.. landed 1-2.. small scuds. 1-2.. tried glow balls all sizes and colors No luck,, back to scuds.. wolly worms and buggers.. not much action with that... until I seen this young cpl,, they were hooking fish every cast almost.. seen the young lady doing very well and her and her Husband/boyfriend, were hooking up with dbls 4-5 times.. they got close to me and I said.. you seem to be doing very well.. do you mind me asking what your using?.. No problem.. both of us are using these white jigs they sell at the tackle shop.. looked like a 1/80th.. I said thx and couldn't tie one on fast enough.. and that saved my day.. I landed 5-6 on the jig the rest of the afternoon.. so to that young cpl.. If you read this web site.. I'll say thx again.. good day on the water as always.. I landed 10-11 for the day.. and I finally got that chance to try-out my new Chota wading boots- AWESOME! so comfortable, I wasn't near as fatigued as I would get with my old Gary Borger HEAVY butt boots.. and the new lampson lite speed reel with the new line was a real pleasure also.. but I will say.. I never thought a good pair of wading boots could make such a difference.. so to anyone that is looking to spend the extra $$.. put it in the boots.. you'll be glad you did.... PK

Well I don't know about below the hwy 65 bridge.. and I sure wouldn't want to be the one to EVER! disagree with Trav... but.... using a drift rig like the diagram showed and tying on a small flat fish has worked for me real well.. as a matter of fact.. between fall creek and Lilley's landing I've been real sucessful using that rig.. like my daddy always said... I'd rather be lucky than good... I guess I'm just lucky then... PK

I'm going saturday.. Plan on picking up some midges sizes 20-24.. Streamers ? Now that sounds interesting.. never used them in the winter.. any more suggestions out there... ?? Got a new reel.. new waders and new boots I haven't tried yet.. and maybe.. just maybe.. I'll get lucky and catch one or 2.. but if not.. as long as I don't get wet.. it will be a Good day... PK

I've been reading this thread that Trav started with the poll on the other species.. I have found it very informative and have given it a lot of thought now about how and Why the trout or in Taneycomo.. It is interesting the spawning part (etc).. I do care A lot about what happens to not only the body's of water I fish, but our general enviroment for all of us across the country.. but as far as the trout in lake taneycomo go... for me and I'm speaking for ME!... some of the Best fishing I've done is @ Lake Taneycomo.. I've been going to this lake since 1981 and I can say I've had some of the best fishing trips of my life.. Watched my daughter catch her 1st fish there on 2lb test line.. a 14" rainbow.. who thinks that was easy for a 6 yr old girl ? I've turned many friends that were only Bass/crappie fisherman into trout/ fly fisherman now.. because I started them into catching trout @ lake Taneycomo.. and my experience there led me to the white river where I caught an 8.5 lb brown.. and Norfolk river which I also enjoy.. I used to have a big Ranger Bass boat. Where I fished tournaments and was even asked to fish Pro Am... I have a float tube where I fished strip pits in the 80's/ 90's caught a lot of bass in the 6-7 lb range and have a 9.75 on my wall from those pits.. was that unskilled ?? I've caught 2 stripped Marlin in Hawaii over 100lbs each 2 yrs ago I caught 2 Tarpon in the Boca Grande pass in Fla.. 1st was 125lbs and the 2nd was 90 lbs... and last but not least.. in 1979 I caught a stringer of Crappie at Enid Mississippi where the SMALLEST was 15" and the largest was 17" Whats my point your asking.... I Always go back to Trout on Lake Taneycomo... I feel I'm an accomplished fisherman.. and I resent Travs comments.. and the 3rd week of January I'll be back in the freezing cold turning a new friend on to fishing for trout on Lake Taneycomo and staying @ Lilley's Landing... Because for Me.. catching trout on lite line is where it's at... Paul Kelley

I have thought about the Ross evoultion.. the Sage reels.. and the lampson lite speed reels.. looking to get some thing nice to pair up with this rod... does anyone have any suggestions before I buy this weekend ?? Thanks PK

Yes.. all through the meramac.. but.. you have the trout in the upper area... good fishing PK
-
I pinch my barbs down with the pliers.. easier on the fish.. and easier to remove them from there mouths.. I like to float from under the hwy 8 bridge to scotts ford.. and if you go during the week.. and put in early.. you might not see many fisherman at all.. that float I think is 6.5 miles.. good luck PK

I've never been to Alaska.. It's my dream trip for sure.. I hope they don't screw up the last frontier.. makes me sad.. I will follow this story PK
-
He's right.. put in on the upper meramac in the summer and throw rebel crawdad crank baits.. you'll catch smallmouth.. rainbow and brown trout.. some of the best fishing I do close to home in the summer.. PK

Hoping someone can give me some advise.. I was looking at some of my old fishing video's and I caught a 9.5 lb brown trout on the white river in 1993 that I released that day.. I was fishing with a guide out of Sportsmans resort named Tommy Due and he was real glad I released it also.. I felt good about it then.. but watching that video.. I would like to have it on my wall with my 9.5 lb bass I caught in 1989.. Does anyone have a suggestion of someone who can do me a replica of that fish.. and about how much roughly it would cost.. It sure was a pretty Male I caught that day in february 93.. Thx PK

Hello all.. I've been a frequent visitor to this site and have gotten a lot of very valuable information on here.. as much as I used to Bass fish from my boat and fish strip pits from my float tube,, I can say that my new passion is trout on a fly.. There's still a lot I need to learn,, but thats the fun.. I come to this site every day when I get home from work and now that I did register, I might even have a few things to post once in a while.. When I visit Taneycomo I always stay at Lilley's Landing and can remember when I just would stop there and get warm before my final leg up to the dam.. I used to stay at Brills rainbow resort down around main street way back then.. and maybe I'm wrong but it seems the lake is making a comeback to the glory days of the early 80's... I look forward to learning and meeting some of you on here.. Phil and the rest of you.. Thanks for all you do.. Paul Kelley
