I would not go to the dam... I have been hitting the james hard for spoonies and the fish never made it to the dam...if it were me i would go to walnut springs and just work my way up.

I took a guy that just wanted to catch some fish so we went up around blunks. on the first cast he had one on. and the rest of the afternoon it was constant. i dont know how many we caught, but we slaughtered the whites today. on the way back down i through some big hooks around and managed to catch about a 30 pound spoonie. he really thought that was some thing special. i might try and make a trip or two back down there in the next few days and see what else i can catch.

blow smoke please... do you know who i am lol. i did catch 8 of those old nasty spoonies on monday night. Even with the big cat lol. as for white bass I think they are on their way back down. three weeks ago they were catching some big sows way up river. now all i have heard is that peopel are not doing diddly. your guess is as good as mine. i was on the osage last saturday and slaughtered the whites. maybe you need to start fishing a different river.

i made a report with the game thief people. i haven't heard any thing . but maybe they will watch a little more when the water goes down.

Tonight i went fishing down below the springfield lake dam and saw a whole bunch of spoonbill. they were cool to watch. anyways i was catching some perch and just wading around when three guys showed. I didn't really pay them any attention until i saw two snagging rods show up, and they started catching spoonbill. I did everything i could to find the greene county agents phone number and i couldn't. i am sure this is not the first time these guys have done that. If anyone knows the agents name or phone number i would appreciate having it..... thanks.

it makes me no difference i think dad is coming down on friday night with his boat. i would like to be in a boat especially on a weekend becasue of the peole. its what ever you can afford though. i dont care if troutfshn wants to come thats fine with me. i have two good rods now so its whatever. just let meknow what your plans are i am about to go right now and see what i can tear up....

yea i think that you are right with your rules there. once you keep your two fish you can continue to snag for other things like suckers in the creeks and what not. i dont think if i had two paddlefish in the boat i would try to snag gar though. to risky..... and we do try to gently roll them in the boat, seth adn i... and they still beat us to death, but we don't hold thier heads, we might try that. on opening night we rolled one in the boat that racked seth lol. we probably should have held that ones head to save seth's....

hey troutfshn when are you gonna go again. i think i might go back to that spot maybe tomorrow or thursday. and if not we will go crappie fishing in a couple weeks out at indian hills. call me and let me know what you think

you can realease all the fish you want. because we are men and dont use gaffs. and all the fish are gone if you really need to know. we have many families around the area that just love to eat paddlefish that we give them too. so theres my two cents. maybe you shouldn't kill the fish as soon as you catch them. and non of the fish i put back your gonna die. they were all just as good wheni released them as i caught them. and you say " snag and release" what do you do when you catch a short fish.. i guess you keep it because you dont release....

I went with seth friday night and caught seven and went down below the dam tonight and caught eight to make my thirty. the fish are all holed up right now and are very easy to catch. i met a kid from msu there tonight and he caught one and hit two others before his reel broke. i am not sure how to put pics up so i will have seth do it for me lol.

If you are gonna snag at the dam at springfield lake make sure you have a lot of hooks and sinkers. There are lots of snags and you lose a ton of a stuff. i went on sunday and had some luck with spooners and went back on wed. for about two hours and all i did was lost hooks.

oh yeah and the guy that said the fish in the pics probably weren't over six pounds or whatever. i know for fish that the bottom one is 28" long and seventeen pounds. take it how you want.

dang people, i was just trying to make a fishing report. I am kinda new to this forum. so i am not real sure who trav is and really i don't care. i would appreciate it though if he has something negative to say that he just keep it to himself. any how for my two cents on this thing,leonard is probably the best and that nicest FISHERMAN i know of. he sent seth and i thousands of flies. and as far as i can tell they have all worked. below and up by the dam. i don't know just how good ol' trav is but i could garuntee leonard could fish circles around him on any part of the lake. your fishing buddy Philip

that a boy leonard. one of these days i will post my big fish with yous it wasn't a bad night i had a blast. just wished i could have fished longer. but they were running alot of water and i had some homework to do.

I went down to the dam around 4:00pm tonight and caught several fish around outlet one on an egg and midge. they weren't real big around 14- 17". i then switched to a countdown on my spinning rod and caught about a dozen. still pretty small and then i tried the pms and caught a few. no real big ones i ended on about an 18" brownie and got tired of high water so i left.

i had a good time last night as well. thanks for the help and use of the pms. that thing is amazing. i will letcha kno next time i am down and maybe seth will join.

I was not sure what i wanted to do last night so i decided to give leonard a call and see how the fishing was. we then decided that we should meet up and do some fishing. I met him at the dam about 10 or so and fished until around 12:30. Had a blast and used a fly called a PMS it worked amazingly. thanks for the good times leonard.

What fish are biting below the dam right now. The last time i was there my friend and i was up there we caught a lot of crappie and whites and i was just wandering if there were still biting, or if anything else is.
