  1. Thanks for the info guys. I sort of figured 5" might be too big on TR. I don't know why I just thought of it now. Looks like I need to hit up the tacle shop again for some more senkos.
  2. I have atleast a dozen bags of senkos but they are all in the 5" size. When you guys rig senkos wacky style what size do you generally like to use? I'm thinking that the 4 inchers would be pretty effective and that 5" may be too big. Any Input? Dan
  3. Wow, what a great post! Thanks for taking the time to write that, it was very informative. Dan
  4. I thought it was Rapala but you could be right. I know that Normark corp, the parent company of rapala, has aquired a number of lure manufacturers in the past few years. They bought Terminator, Luhr Jensen and I thought Storm but I could be wrong. Dan
  5. BB, Thanks for the info it was very helpful. I'm stocking up for my trip down in March. Figure I should have the basics in addition to my arsenal that I currently have. I hope the "new" wiggle wart is still the same after rapala bought out storm.
  6. Went to buy some wiggle warts but had a quick question that I thought you guys could answer. I've heard a lot about brown, green, and red craw colors. I noticed they're made in crayfish and crawdad patterns. Are people reffering to the crayfish colors or the more solid crawdad patterns? I appreciate any help.
  7. I had read on a thread that someone suggested using jewel hyperflex grubs for football jig trailers. I'm pretty sure those are skirted unless I'm mistaken. Thats why I mentioned skirted grubs. Thanks for the reply, Dan
  8. I have to admit, I don't own a football jig and only have limited knowledge on this presentation. I am planning on picking up a few and I have a good idea of what to get, but I wanted to see if anyone has any advice. I read on this site to stick with 5/8 oz and 3/4 oz models. Any other suggestions regarding weight, color, and where and how to present football jigs? What about rod and line preferences? I'm also a little confused about what grubs to use as trailers. Do people use the "skirted double tail grubs" even though the jig itself already has a skirt? Thanks for the help, Dan
  9. I would also go with the lighter rating rod. In my opinion when using a shaky head, sensitivity seems to trump any extra backbone that you can get from using a heavier rating rod. So if I couldn't just buy both, I would go with the lighter one. Ha ha. Also, I have used st.croix rods for about 10 years but almost all of them are the premiere series which is about $100. Although I don't own any of the legend series, I feel that st.croix makes one of the best rods in the $100 category. I know that the original question wasn't about brands but thats my two cents. Dan
  10. Thanks for everybody's input. Does chompers make a 4" worm thats different from the drop shot worm? Or is the 4" "drop shot worm" the one I hear people use for a lot of different applications (other than for a drop shot)? Thanks again, Dan
  11. Just trying to get some input on what people use for shaky head fishing. My go-to rig is a 6" Houdini Worm on a 1/16 oz Bite Me shaky head or a 1/16 oz Gopher Tackle mushroom head jig. I think the hooks are 3/0. I usually fish it with 8 lb floro on a 7' medium action spinning rod. The thing is, I usually fish in Minnesota where I am throwing them on weedlines in 8'-12' feet of water most of the time. I do utilze the shaking technique in certain situations, but with the weeds I don't get the opportunity that often. I use the light jig head because of the shallow water but also because I get most of the fish on the fall. My question is, what would you guys reccomend I adjust as far as equipment and technique when I fish Table rock this year? First time I'm coming down is at the end of March (if that makes a difference). Thanks, Dan
  12. Sorry for the delay. I am interested but thinking more for the near future. I will definetly contact you when I am ready. Still have to set up a PM account too. Thanks again Dan
  13. Yeah, that helps. kinda what I figured. Just seeing if there is a standard protocol. Dan
  14. I've heard a lot about grubs but I read Bill B's article on late winter/early spring fishing (2004) that mentioned the rogue as an option when it gets closer to the transition into spring. I understand that using spoons or C tailed grubs and a jig can target fish in 45-60 FOW range but how do you use a suspending jerkbait that only dives a maximum 10' (and thats the deep diving models)? Am I reading it wrong? Dan
  15. Wow, I've seen some nice paint jobs since I started browsing around. Do you normally buy the baits from them as well? or are you just sending in your own baits to have painted? Dan
