  1. I didn't manage to get out to meet anyone but I do appreciate the input via the forum. I got in an hour or so at Outlet 1 I believe. Quickly realized I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't catch anything with my fly rod but I did manage to catch a rainbow from the boat in the slot area using a drift rig and a fly I tied. That was pretty cool. We caught our limit and Lilley's was great as usual. Pink/white "bubblegum" colored power bait seemed to be the best but nothing after dark. I am going to try to get back down there when the weather warms up and hire a guide.

Are you looking for Midwest/Ozarks images only? I'm new to the forum but I have been into underwater photography for a while. All of my pics are salt water. If anyone is interested, I'll gladly share. I tried selling my photos and was published once but my full time occupation is much more lucrative Edit: I found a few pics from my Bennett trip years ago. Not great but the masses make me laugh.
  3. The Fishing Hole is still at Ranchmart?!?!?! I bought my first spinning reel there 25 years ago!! They moved across the street south of 95th? I tried to stop in several yrs ago and they were gone. I live on Mission road out south.
  4. So no tips on night fishing from the dock? Anyone know if Berkley stopped making the pink/white powerbait?
  5. Soggy, I'm in Leawood also. Ditto on K&K. http://www.kkflyfisher.com/
  6. I'm part of the KC group I've been to Taney before but last year was the first time with these guys. Bringing two more new guys this year. Last count was 18 ?!?
  7. I don't plan to wade on Thurs eve. When I said "from Lilley's dock" I meant ON Lilley's dock I'll be catching up with guys arriving that I haven't seen in a while and I'm sure we'll have plenty of our own "special coffee". Probably wise to stick to the safety of the dock. I'm curious how to fish at night with spinning gear ON the dock. Never had luck with powerbait at night. I'm going to try to get up to the dam a couple of hrs before sunset with my fly rod. I may stay a little after dark if I can figure out what I'm doing. I hope to get out either Fri or Sat night for a bit. I planned on buying waders at some time. Might as well do it now. I know the addiction well. My first experience with a fly rod was when I was on vacation in March. I was scuba diving in southern Belize. The area is known for fly fishing but that's not why we were there. After several days of listening to the fishermen in the resort I had to give it a try. I wisely had a guide take me out for a couple of hours to learn how to cast before trying the real deal. We were just catching small snappers on the reef but I was having a blast. I signed up for a half day for bonefish on the salt flats the last day we were there. It's sight fishing and I couldn't cast far enough to target the fish but it was still an amazing experience. Some one was flat lining mullet (bait fish - not hair style) and they were catching fish but it didn't matter. A month or so later I had my own fly rod fishing my local waters for the crappie spawn. By mid summer I was tieing my own flies. This will be my first opportunity for trout.
  8. Looks like we might be arriving early enough on Thurs to get a couple hours in before sunset. I'd like to survey the area before attempting any night fishing. I've only been up to the dam once before and it was several years ago. We'll probably fish after sunset from Lilley's dock while waiting for the rest of our gang to arrive. I've read a bunch about night fishing at the dam but what about below fall creek?
  9. My last two trips in winter, pink/white produced the most trout. I like chartreuce and orange but my buds were killin me with the pink/white mix. I had to convert
  10. LASGTA88, That rig won't work with a jig. Not sure if you've read this. http://www.lilleyslanding.com/artificalbait.html I have a good image showing a couple of rigs. I'll see if I can find it... When drifting, you can use heavier line with a section of lighter 2 or 4lb line tied to the tip.
  11. Thanks for the warm welcome! I've stayed at Lilley's before. Thumbs up. I've fished MO waters since I was a child. I currently spend most of my fishing time with a kayak and my fly rod catching bluegill, crappie, largemouth and channel cat. I usually strip clousers and wooley buggers. I tie most of them myself. Looking to learn more!
  12. Great forum! A group from KC has recently included me in their annual trip to Lilley's. I've been to Taneycomo before but I learned how to use a fly rod earlier this year. I've been reading the forum for about a month and picked up a bunch of good information. I'll likely be in a boat with them on Fri and Sat but I plan to drive up to the dam before leaving on Sunday the 20th. I don't own waders and I'm not planning to set any records but I have to give it a try. If any of you plan to fish that day, I'd be grateful if you could show me how it's done. I don't even have to fish
