  1. Clousers, #6 char/white, purple/white size #8 probably would have been good also they seemed to key on the smaller size. Went Sunday aftenoon also, caught more fish, 3 small stripers 1-3 lbrs 5-6 spotted bass and a bunch of sand bass, again smaller flies. Gregg
  2. Took my dad for a couple of hours this morning (8:30 - 12:00),nothing hitting and was getting ready to give it up around 10:00 when the sand bass started hitting, caught quite a few and one nice largemouth, overall not too bad considering the weather was not the greatest.
  3. The only map I know of is on the oklahoma wildlife department web site under the fishing link then they have a link of maps under trout areas. Gregg
  4. Count me in, great time last year. Gregg
  5. Never seen them post the schedual so soon, but if it holds true, rain or shine I'll be in the water as the soon as its light enough. probably start by the cable since the parking lot is lit to rig up. Gregg
  6. Same plan for me, if schedual has water off for Sunday I'll be there, probably start at Watts area. Gregg
  7. with the water as muddy as it is what type of fly were you using?
  8. Any generation at all makes it very tough, I have fished during generation, 1&2 generators but you are limited to where you can access the water. One generator will raise the water level 3-4 feet. Gregg
  9. I tie my own, each soft hackle is one color. Look in the fly recipies on this forum. Gregg
  10. I fish wolly buggers 60% of the time mostly bead head in olive #6, 8 ,10 cast 90 degrees to current and dead drift keeping slack out of line and slowly strip at end of drift. Most of my takes are during the drift. The other fly is soft hackles red, black, wine with silver wire and partridge hackle in #12, 14 , 16 fished the same as the wolly buggers. Once and a while I will indicator fish. Gregg
  11. Got on the water around 6:30 am, several people already on the water. caught 30 fish, caught a 22" rainbow just down from the cable below the dam, my largest at the lower Illinois. Caught 3-4 fingerling stripers in the same area and a couple of bluegill. In the afternoon went down to the Watts area and caught 6 or 7 there. Fishing was definately off and on would catch 3 or 4 in a row then go for a hour with nothing, overall a good day did'nt seem to hot while wading. Gregg
  12. Anybody plan on braving the heat tommorrow? I'm going to try and be there by 6:00am and start up by the dam. Gregg
  13. The stripers and hybreds are in there, fished sunday afternoon and yesterday afternoon caught two stripers both days a couple of hybreds, one spotted bass, one gar, and several sand bass. The fish are there but are getting hammered by all the other people fishing. Plus most people seem to be keeping there catch. Gregg
  14. If the generation schedual holds like it is through the weekend, I'll be there all day Sunday, been having withdrawls from those big fish, cant wait to toss those clousers on my 8 wt. Gregg
  15. I'll be there Sat. (13th) for river cleanup, hope some of those big ones are still ready to be caught, think I'll hang aroud late and try some night fishing over there.
  16. Fish areas that you know what the bottom structure is like. I use my 8 wt. with 4X tippet , strikes seem to be harder and fish a little larger at night, and large streamers (Check my 2 june post). It's a blast.
  17. I started up on the flats near the big log at outlet one and moved down just below that root ball in your last picture around midnight caught several nice bows and one 18+ brown from that spot using Size #4 purple conehead streamer. I agree night fishing is awsome! Gregg
  18. Trout Lure Definitions Fly an artificial lure constructed on a single point hook, using any material except soft plastic bait and natural and scented baits as defined below, that is tied, glued or otherwise permanently attached. Artificial Lure a lure constructed of any material excluding soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait as defined below. Soft Plastic Bait synthetic eggs, synthetic worms, synthetic grubs and soft plastic lures. Natural and Scented Baits a natural fish food such as bait fish, crayfish, frogs permitted as bait, grubs, insects, larvae, worms, salmon eggs, cheese, corn and other food substances not containing any ingredient to stupefy, injure or kill fish. This does not include flies or artificial lures. It does include dough bait, putty or paste-type bait, any substance designed to attract fish by taste or smell and any fly, lure or bait containing or used with such substances. There is alot of grey area in the state regulations, are rubber legs "soft plastic bait" my opinion is no, and its such a small part of the overall fly, of course my opinion. Plus everything I catch goes back in the water, and next time maybe they will be a little more warry of those rubber legs.
  19. It was nice meeting you also, and your streamers catch awsome fish, thanks ! Gregg
  20. Hey phil, Next weekend am taking my daughter fishing at taney, but on the 13th I'll be at the lower Illinois for a clean up with the tulsa fly fishers maybe we can meet up there. Tenkiller is almost back to normal so generaton should be also. Gregg
  21. Friday afternoon checked generation schedual and saw no generation after midnight, hit the road for Taney. Got to the dam at 11:15 and in the water around 20 till, one generator still going. Went to the area below outlet 1, one other person was already there spin fishing. Weather was fantastic, 60 degrees extremely clear skies and about 2 feet of light fog coming off the water. Uesd 8wt with sinking line, was throwing some big flies (J.H.'s circus peanut) purple cone head streamer. Caught some nice fish, two browns in the 12-13" range and several bows smallest around 15". Quit around 7:00 am and went to my parents house to take a nap and was back around 1:00 and launched my canoe at the boat ramp below the dam for a little drifting and wading, killed them on soft hackles, black, olive, red size 12 and 14. Great fishing trip, really got into that night fishing definately worth the lack of sleep.
  22. I've fished from spring street bridge(where helicopter static display is) down to the vacant two story white house, this seems to the most productive stretch. My most productive flies have been olive woolly buggers #6 thru 12 with beadhead and conehead, pheasant tails #12 thru #16, and brown leach patterns. I've caught fish all summer long even with kids swimming near by. good luck
  23. Hey phil I,m heading to taney tonight, am thinking of trying some night fishing myself, water has been off at midnight will be parked at outlet one with canoe on top of grey f-150, my see you there. gregg
