  1. Unfortunately, it will not be till the Fall, when we return from Alaska. We are in the process of getting everything packed up and stored for the summer, so the fishing and hunting have to take the back seat for about a month. Then it will be fishing and hunting in the Wilds of Alaska every day till October.
  2. I just got off the phone with Serrif Ken Copeland. He more than welcomed me to come down and float Shoal Creek and ensured me that the rights of floaters and fishermen would be protected. He also told me that I would be well within the law to beach my canoe on a gravel bar and get out to wade fish. He did warn me though, that if I climbed up the creek bank and went far enough that I would at some point be trespassing and at that point he would protect the rights of the land owners. I agreed completely with his stance and felt he was a more than fare enforcer of the law. I thanked him for his time and clarification of the rights of both land owners and floaters in this matter.
  3. you are probally right, but the phone call I will be placing in about an hour will add a little weight to it.
  4. Thanks for the report Don. How was it fishing in all that wind yesterday. Hope you left the flyrods at home.
  5. Welcome to the forum! I'm not much of a jig fisherman, nor do I know too much about Table Rock, but my best guess would be around the boat docks right now. Keep reading Bill Babler's reports and post on Table Rock, along with Don House's reports. They will keep you up to date on what is happening on the Rock.
  6. I believe that if someone interferes with or harrasses a person fishing within the banks of a stream or river that has been accessed by way of a public boat launch put in by the Missouri Department of Conservation or any stream or river that has been accessed in any legal manner, including but not limited to a public access administered by the Missouri Department of Conservation, then the harrasser/interferer should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The state of Missouri has laws in place to keep this from happening and yet it still happens all the time. The only way to stop this type of harrassment and intimidation is to punish the law breakers. This stream, Shoal Creek, has obviously been deemed navigatable by someone in the higher powers of the states government, or the MDC would not have put a public boat launch on the stream in order for the public to navigate it. I, Duane Doty, demand that something be done in order to correct this wrong doing and to insure that it does not happen again.
  7. Looks like you guys had a great float. I sure was a beautiful day to be on the water yesterday. Sorry we missed out on it. I think I might have enjoyed the harrassment part of the float. Prolly a good idea we didn't show...might have ended up behind bars for the night. I wonder if the conservation agent of the area would be interested in the fact that you guys were harrassed while legally persuing game fish in the state of Missouri through an access that the state has provided for you?
  8. Nice Don! You would not believe the number of bass I saw at the end of Ricks dock the other day. I was real tempted to grab the fly rod!
  9. Sorry guys. MC and I had some things come up this week that wont allow us to attend. We will join you again on a Fall float when we get back from Alaska. Enjoy your selves and have a safe float.
  10. Ahhhh....now that makes a little more sense! The other dump, is what we refer to in Alaska as the "Brown Trout Release Program" LOL!
  11. With the breathable waders we have now adays, I've been tempted to take a leak in them when the bite has been real good. Have not gone that far yet though cant say I never will. The new zippered waders definately make it a little more easier during an emergency situation. Sounds like you had some fun though. It's tough to fight the wind.
  12. So sorry, but you cant build your quarry in our back yard. On the wrong side of the Christian County Line. Walked along the Creek Bank. Had to kick the brambles down. Secret song was in my mouth. Mocking birds shouted me down. Came upon Big Rock on Bull Creek. I aint white bread, I'm wheat bread, I dont make much money, but I'm well fed. I didnt learn too much to earn too much. I just dont like walkin around half dead....dont call me trash till you've stepped in my trailer.
  13. Are we the only two Big Smith fans on here???
  14. And after a full day of fishing like that, I'm glad George brought the whiskey, George brought the whiskey, we were burning down the house and leavin by the light of the fire.
  15. Great pictures. Looks like it was a great time. You've got a really cool blog going there. I enjoyed reading and looking at it.
  16. I was listening to a Big Smith CD yesterday and it got me to wonderin...so I headed over to Bull Creek and caught some nice ones up by Big Rock. They were taking just about everything I threw at them on the wrong side of the Christian County Line.
  17. Great report! Looks like you had a lot of fun out there.
  18. All depends on water levels. Most of them usually spawn within the 1st 3 shoals up from the lake. A couple of years ago, when we had all the floods, they went way up to find the shoals. I've heard people catching them where Wilson's Creek dumps in the Jame's. That's pretty far up.
  19. Nice fly, Polish nymphing?
  20. Had a great time on the river last night and got to fish with some great people too. MC and I got down there about 6 p.m. , shuttled all the gear across, fired up the grill and started fishing. The bite was there, but it was not on fire. Micheal Kyle and his wife showed up, Phil Lilley, his nephew Ryan, and a couple of his buddies made it down, and of course there were a few of the regulars out too. We all caught some good fish, ates some smoked pork picnic roast and smoked chicken, and it was a beautiful night to be on the river. MC and I did not start keeping fish till after dark, but ended up with 15 between the both of us. I think MK and his wife had 15 between the both of them, and I know Phils crew were toting around some fish too. Dark colors clousers were working best for the fly fishing people. Purple and pink, black and grey. I dont know what color swimming minnows were working for the spin fishermen, but I'm gonna guess purple.
  21. I work for Crystal Creek Lodge on the Naknek River in the Bristol Bay area near Katmai National Park.
  22. We got into them again last night. The bite was a little slower. I dont know how the cold front coming will affect them, but I'd say maybe another week and a half of the good fishing.
  23. Winston Ascent. Lower end Winston rod that I really like the feel of. A little softer rod but lots of backbone.
  24. Welcome to the forum. Again, where you residing now? I'll be back up north for the summer, but ready to kill some ducks when I get back in the Fall. If your close to Branson, I will be more than happy to take you out and show you some fun around here.
  25. Yeah, I got a warrenty on that rod. It is about the 6th time I've broke it on fish. It is one of my favorite rods that I've caught 50 lb kings on, several 30 inch plus rainbows includinge a 36 inch beast, gar, whites, and just about everything you could imagine. I paddle across the river in a canoe and wade about knee deep on the other side.
