  1. can finally get back into fishing since duck season is finished. since i haven't been on the water in a bit, where would one start if they were going after some walleye?
  2. sorry for the late reply, rough week at work so far. we got one canadian and that was on the way in. we hunted below the 412 bridge and didn't see a bird. we heard a couple of shots toward beavorama, so we ventured up there. we jumped one bird and that was it. headed back down the brinkley this weekend and maybe i'll have better luck down there. i didn't get to fish, since i broke the transducer off while picking up decoys. wow! washing the mud out of the boat, you really are done. if the hunting is good down south, i'd be willing to trade you a hunt for fishing trip. seeing as how i don't know what the hell i'm doing on beaver.
  3. anyone on here been hunting by the 12 bridge or around war eagle? i have been down south on my farm, so i am out of touch with the waters up here. also, has anyone been catching any eyes? thx.
  4. Thanks fOr the info! I really do appreciate it. I might be going to Oklahoma. A buddy of mine has been limiting out regularly over there.
  5. Is prairie creek still where I should be? Mostly trolling.
  6. Gotcha. Sounds like I needed to be up that way. That snow situation explains why we haven't had many good hunts on our farm in Clarendon. Usually we have had a lot more birds than what we have now. We don't even have any in our rest area. So I guess the question is should I shoot or cast tomorrow?
  7. Went hunting around the 412 area this evening, then scouted for other spots. I thought they would be ahead of the front, but I was wrong. Not a single duck. No fishing reports. Also, I have heard two different reports of tons of shooting around the 12 bridge about 10 days back? Any truth to that? Is anyone heading out tomorrow morning or later in the week? I have the new a5 I need to check out.
  8. Thx for the update. I grew up around Stuttgart and we have a farm in Clarendon. That is where most of my duck hunting has taken place. This year I am going to give beaver a shot. These scouting reports are great. I was hesitant about hunting and then we had a pretty kick butt teal season. Were you throwing those kietechs again? Congrats on the good fishing day.
  9. Thanks for the tips. I have a feeling my 5 weight is going to need an upgrade.
  10. Gotcha & thx!
  11. Well dung! Jk. Ok used hds 7 gen 1 ($600) or new hds 5? Which one would you do?
  12. Gen 1 or gen 2? Also how does the map card system work? Would it be beneficial to buy a unit with waypoint already on it? It would be from a experienced fisherman. Or would his spots erase?
  13. Thanks guys. I am confused as ever. Just kidding. I guess it's the old Chevy vs. Ford debate.
  14. got it!
  15. Another hummingbird user. Anyone with a lowrance care to comment? I have a chance to get a hds7 gen 1 for 600, but now I am unsure. It looks like I'll be researching hummingbirds tonight.
  16. never heard of that. i've got ton's of clousers and shad patterns, so i think i will give it whirl. any tips?
  17. thanks for the info! i'll have to look into the hummingbird. everyone i have talked to has pushed the lowrance hds. dealers (b/c they are selling them), but other fisherman as well. is there anything you don't like about your hummingbird?
  18. i am going to bite the bullet and buy a nice sonar. i am looking at the lowrance 5hds. then purchase the structure scan at a later date. what do you guys use?
  19. here is the catch from a couple of saturdays ago.
  20. well well that stinks. can you usually throw flies to walleye?
  21. Were you throwing a clouser? Btw I would really like to pick your brain for a couple of hours, if you ever get some free time. I know diddly about beaver and it seems Like you do.
  22. Sorry I have not been on. I'm a photographer, so it's the season for me not to have any time for anything. I'll get pictures up tomorrow.
  23. I don't know when the next time I will be able to get back out for about a month, so I was going regardless. Surprisingly there were a few boats around rocky branch. Did anyone on here get out today?
  24. Well, I caught my first walleye today! Thanks to advice from fins and feathers. It was even a keeper at 22 inches. And two nice size kentuckys. one hit so hard, it pulled my pole out of the holder and into the lake. Some how my other crank bait snagged the line about 30 feet later. So I got my rod back and a 16 inch kentucky. I'll have pics a bit later.
