  1. yeah, it'll probably be around the Sac river arm
  2. I saw a lot of bubbles before they came out but didn't see any change in water color. The fish really went crazy when the bubbles came out. By the way, I got the PM, and just sent my response.
  3. Plan on fishing stockton this spring and summer and want to know if anyone flyfishes out there..... Any advice would be appreciated.
  4. Is there any special way to fish this or is it just like your generic streamer retrieve?
  5. Sorry i haven't answered back, i haven't been on for a couple days. Anyways, the fish didn't make it to the end of the gravel dropoff before they got swallowed. Leonard... what do you mean by chocolate?
  6. If it works why change it? I have a 6 weight and an 8 wt. but i rarely use the 8 because I am more comfortable with the six, and anything I want to throw out there can be used with the 6 wt. I'd say just go with what you're comfortable with, but don't be afraid to experiment.
  7. Was fishing near outlet 1 today, and saw tons of dead trout about 1-4 inches long coming out of the outlet. Is this supposed to happen? Why?
  8. Found that out the hard way...It will look kind of funny when you're doing it, but the finished product usually works out. just make sure that when you get done palmering down the marabou, you go back over it a little ways so that it flares backwards like in Leonard's pictures.
  9. Looked like a good fly so I thought I'd tie a few up. However, instead of using pine squirrel (didn't have any), I used zonker strips, put on some lead wire to weigh it down and added flashabou to the side to make a lateral line sort of thing. I did them in black, olive and white/grey. They look promising. I'll post a picture or two here in a day or two.
  10. I read the tournament rules, and saw that there won't be any wading allowed, but will there be a tournament in the future where wading is permitted?
  11. While attempting to wait out the lighning on Saturday evening, I wondered if anyone at the conservation department ever considered putting in cabins or campsites for night fishermen in somewhere on the property. It would probably earn some money for the department, and would make night fishing a lot easier if you didn't have to think about having to get back home so late. The only downside I could think of is more attention from non-local anglers who may not feel like making the drive home or heading back to the neon glow of Branson. I personnally am all up for it, so long as the area doesn't get a trout park feel... Just thought I'd pass along some thoughts... what do you guys think?
  12. Probably a canoe with a trolling motor, just because I don't have any real experience with the other platforms except canoes and kayaks, and the motor on the canoe may just come in handy if you do get into a tight spot if the generation picks up unexpectedly. Besides....after pulling in all those fish, those arms get worn out
  13. Noticed that you mentioned mouse patterns... I actually experimented with them about a year ago and found that if you take a large, straight shanked bass hook, like the ones used for soft plastics, along with some leather lacing for a tail and a strip of that faux fur found at craft stores to wrap around the hook until you have a good body profile. Had a lot of success using them on bass while visiting michigan, and that the synthetic fur will actually stay on top better than I thought, and may be more durable/water resistant than rabbit hair. I'm curious to see how others do it...Are you using them at night?
  14. Thanks guys, I'l probably just end up going to missouri state, but I hear that they have some flyfishing clubs or classes or something. I figure if I stay in town, I can have all my fishing gear in town and not be far away from some good fishin'.
  15. My name is Zach Smith, I'm 18 and live in Springfield. I've been a visitor to the site for quite some time now, and have always recieved excellent advice from all of you guys so I thought I might as well join in. I enjoy every part of being an outdoorsman, and try to involve myself in as many activities as possible. If I'm not out wetting a line or stuck in a tree, than you can make a fairly safe bet that I'm daydreaming that I was, (In fact, there have been more than one occasions when I've been caught reading fishing reprots from this very site when supposed to be doing English essays!) Fishing has been in my family for generations so it's pretty natural that I try to fish for every species and using a wide of variety of techniques as possible. For the past five or so years, my passion has really turned to Fly fishing/tying. Hunting is also another obsession. Within the last few months, a few of my buddies and I have been going to the tailwaters Taneycomo and it's quickly become our favorite "little honey hole". All of my close friends are outdoorsmen, and we are always ready to introduce any of our curious other friends who wonder what makes us head to the country for the weekend. Next year I'll be attending college, and am not really sure what to major in, but the idea of finding a career in the outdoors industry is very appealling. Too bad there is no degree in Flyfishing. Anyways, I thought I'd give everyone a formal introduction to myself, I plan on throwing in my two cents worth as often as I can. Can't wait to start posting! Thanks, Zach
