  1. My bet is that the Wolves come from a long line of captive animals that could no more fend for themselves than my Lab. They will turn up hanging around anyone that is willing to feed them, or as a traffic fatality. I wouldn't be anymore worried about these animals than I would any other large stray dog.
  2. Nice site Michael. My suggestions. 1. add the tab to the home page (home, fishing reports, guide services, catalog, your acount, contact us) adding this info to the bottom would not clutter the page. 2. Fishing reports don't list a target species 3. a link to mapquest showing the store location 4. maybe a photo gallery or place for site guest to post. Good luck...........and add me to the drawing list. I need a reason to visit Springfield.
  3. The penalty for poaching can't be that bad. This kind of regulation would make me a law violator very quickly.
  4. Nice looking fish. I don't know what the temperature was there, but it looks like a nice day. I'm sure it was cool by looking at Babbler's ears. Too cold around here to fish unless you have an ice auger.
  5. PM me w/ your address and I'll send you a few.
  6. Are you still looking for Altoid tins? I have a few.
  7. Leonard, mine were mailed this morning. I sent 15 of my attempt at a Y2k w/ a self address stamped return envelope. Thanks for hosting the swap.
  8. I typically will tie the tippet of the second fly to the bent of the first. A new trick that seems to work is to tie the tippet on w/ a Blood knot leaving a long tag end of the blood knot. Tie the lead fly to the tag end of the blood knot.
  9. I would highly recommend John Berry. I hired him to fish a couple of fridays ago. He worked hard all day to accomodate the style of fishing that we wanted. We caught fish, and I learned several new methods to put in my bag of trout fishing tricks. We fished till after dark and would have stayed longer if we could see. John gets my vote.
  10. I crossed the spring this past Sunday at AR Hwy 62. It was out of its banks due to all of the rain. I hope you not planning a trip anytime soon.
  11. Count me in. I'll get back with you on the fly pattern. Whats the deadline?
  12. I will be headed south that evening toward Norfork and will miss the seminar. Is this the only one that you participate? Good Luck.
  13. Good looking Dog. What are the ducks, Gadwalls?
  14. Never left the plug out, but I have forgotton to unstrap the boat from the trailer. I kept backing in watching the boat in my mirror, and it wouldn' come off the trailer. I had backed in almost to my running boards before I realize the problem that the straps were still attached and the boat was floating the trailer. Before I pulled it out, the boat and trailer drifted off of the ramp, and I nearly got the whole rig stuck. Like you said LMW. It's funny know, but not so then.
  15. personal preferance, but IMO, Montauk is much more enjoyable than Meramec Springs. It is a small stream w/ mostly free flowing sections, unlike Meramec springs which is darn up into pools. However, if accessibility is an issue. Meramec springs is more accessible. My 2 cents. You should be able to access the cabins in the state park through the MODNR website. Good luck.
  16. You need to load as an attachment. Click on browse, go to the location in your computer were the picture is filed, and upload to the system. I don't think you can copy/paste a photo into the forum.
  17. I echo your comments, RR. Public access can be frustrating. I use a couple of access points that don't have boat ramps per-se, and it is frustrating when boaters or non boaters park their cars or swim at the river access.
  18. Yes, the minute I fight the barb free from my landing net and I remember.
  19. Those are nice fish. I agree, too bad about the gig marks. Just a couple of boneheads really give giggers a bad wrap. Were you on a float trip in a canoe, or trying out that new jet boat?
  20. What's the baby have to do w/ your fishing schedule. Your Mother-in-Law doesn't need your help. She'll take care of your wife just fine. 13 years ago, when we had our first, 2 weeks after my daughter was born, I left for 10 day to a fishing trip in Onterio. My mother-in law did a great job. I'm still married, and our daughter is 13 and doing great. Oh, I do hear about it from time to time, but It gives my wife enjoyment to bash me from about it by telling the story. Go ahead, go trout fishing for a few days and enjoy.
  21. Any size to the 45 fish caught? It would have been a nice day to be on the water rather than being stuck in the office.
  22. Thanks.
  23. Creve Coeur Lake used to freeze over regularly prior to St. Louis County parks dredging the lake in the late 70's changing the average lake depth from 2' - 3' deep to a 12' average. I am sure the deeper water has more to do w/ the lake not icing over than any other single occurance. It still ice's over, just not as often.
  24. Straight Yellow corn meal. That's all my wife will let me use. I like the seasoned stuff like Andy's, but for the health of my marriage I use what she likes.
