Thanks guys...the website versions of the shows that are posted now are not completed episodes. There will be full episodes uploaded soon but these are just rough cuts so keep that in mind when you watch online. -
What Is Your Idea Of A Good Fishing Show/video?
Clay Goforth replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
This is great feedback guys! I don't know how to do this without it acting like a show plug so I just have to say it. I host a TV show on DirecTV on the Pursuit Channel and completely understand your frustration with TV shows being a 30 minute infommercial on the "Latest and Greatest." Unfortunately, with the way airtime purchasing works, TV shows HAVE to do the shameless plugs, product showcases, and other garbage because that is how you pull in the sponsor money. The airtime on the networks is incredibly expensive and unless you have someone who is independently wealthy that just wants to fund the show with no returns or you can convince sponsors that simple product placement is enough for them to give you $50k, outdoor programming will forever have product pushing. It is actually very annoying, as someone who got into the business to fish for a living, to have to waste valuable fishing time using a lure that doesn't work half as well as another because you are required to fish that lure because they pay the bills. I understand the frustration but don't think it is the total fault of the shows. The networks are responsible for making the airtime so expensive that you have to go solicit all those sponsorships which you then have to plug. Now, having said all that, in my mind what makes a good show is someone who comes across very passionate about what they are doing, very respectful of the fish they are catching, very cool/different/artsy camera angles, good description of what is being used (techniques, baits, flys, etc), as Dano said, reading the water, fantastic scenery, humor and good interaction between the people on the show. I would really love if the same people who are commenting on this thread would watch an episode or two of our TV show and give us some of this same type feedback. Don't worry about hurting my feelings in the feedback because most likely, I will agree with you. I simply work for the show, and have no control over the way the show gets put together so, I give the owners of the show my feedback all the time. I have fought tooth and nail against being a "gear whore" for them because I don't want my name on anything I don't think is a good product. Anyway, our show times are below. DirecTV Channel 608 (The Pursuit Channel) Thursdays 3pm Saturdays 10pm Sundays 6:30am Thanks in advance for those of you that catch the show and offer feedback. I think you will be pleased with some of what we are doing. Phil, if you have any questions for me about filming or anything, please let me know. -
Oh, man...what a (sorry) funny story. I have dislocated my shoulder three times and have had two surgeries so I feel your pain...literally. Good luck with the shoulder and great story.

Yea I have had people suggest that I sell them, but I don't know. I'd hate to invest money into having prints made, building a website, and the like if nobody would buy them...what do you all think? I am blowing some of them up for myself to hang in my home but didn't know if other people would actually buy them...it is a great idea that I will put some thought into. Until then, Enjoy the Freebies!

Where To Fish Larger Jigs?
Clay Goforth replied to jeb's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I like to fish PJs Finesse Baits football jigs after the early morning topwater bite (if there is one) has died. I like flipping them around timber and structure using big heavy line. Once you get used to the technique, they are very maneuverable in brush piles and other underwater structure, especially ones with weed guards. Just be sure that what you feel is a bite and not a limb before you set the hook. -
Hey et, welcome to the wacky crew. I love fishing wacky style as well and even developed my own wacky worm and built a mold. As for the Senkos, my favorites are the 5" green pumpkin, black, and pearl white. Another trick you can use with keeping the Senkos hooked up correctly is to take a very thin strip of duct tape and wrap it around the center of the worm. Then when you run the hook through, you make sure the point comes through the tape. I haven't noticed any significant difference with the number of strikes I get with the tape on vs the tape off, so I don't think the fish pay it much mind.

These pics are from Whale Channel which is part of the Queen Charlotte Island area. The shot of the vegetation is a kelp bed with two harbor seals poking their heads out to see what is going on. Thanks for the feedback everybody!

So, I am taking a kid fishing on Tuesday and he wants to go bass fishing. I don't really wanna drive all the way to beaver to catch a couple 12 inchers so I was wondering if anyone had recently fished either Lake Fort Smith, Bob Kidd, or Swepco and was willing to divulge their productivity. I know this is not exactly prime Swepco time, but the fish in there have to eat still. I had good luck on Lake Fort Smith but that was in the spring. And I haven't fished Bob Kidd in a couple of years so don't have any clue what is going on out there. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Okay. Is anyone else having trouble uploading photos? I have tried three times now to upload some pics to the photography area. I have made sure to shrink the photos down in size to the required >2MB limit. I have uploaded photos before but now when I try, I select the file, click upload, then it sits for a minute and when it finishes loading, the upload option has disappeared and the "Manage Attachments" shows no uploaded files. Any suggestions or thoughts???

Great Shots Phil! I am sitting here reading Ozark Anglers and looking out the window at the Togiak River over here on the southwestern corner of Alaska just off Bristol Bay. Today was our first day of fishing. This morning was incredible for kings with us (Jeff and myself) tagging out on a 25lb, a 26lb, a 30lb and 31lb kings. Since we tagged out we moved to fishing for Chum with a flyrod which was some of the most fun flyfishing I have ever done. There are estimated to be close to 200,000 chum in the river at this point and there is a spot, literally directly across from the lodge, where they are stacked. I have some photos but don't have them loaded into the computer yet. Alaskan fishing is HOT right now!!!!

Hey folks, I just wanted to let everyone know that is interested that there is a new fishing show coming first to the Pursuit Channel and then the Outdoor Channel. The show is called Fishing Frenzy and features exotic fishing locations across the world. It will air 3rd and 4th quarters on the Pursuit Channel (DirecTV channel 608). Showtimes are Thursdays at 3pm, Saturdays at 10pm, and Sunday mornings at 6:30am. Beginning in 2010 it is set to move to the Outdoor Channel. I hope nobody minds but this is a shameless plug because I host this show along with a gentleman named Jeff Hall, from LaGrande OR. I would really love for people to give it a chance for a few episodes and then give some feedback on ways to improve. Constructive criticism is always welcome. So far we have filmed on Kodiak Island AK, the Little Martin Lake in northern NORTHERN Canada above Yellowknife, the Togiak River in AK, the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, off the Oregon coast, on the Columbia River, and just now in Costa Rica. In two weeks I leave to do a three week stint in British Columbia and Alaska to film some more. If you don't have the Pursuit Channel, you can request from your cable or sat carrier to have the show added to the programming. It doesn't cost the carrier anything to add the channel as they have opened up there satellite feed for anyone to go pick up as desired. The show should be pretty exciting so tune in when you can! www.fishingfrenzy.tv www.pursuitchannel.com You can also follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/fishingfrenzy Thanks guys!

What Lure Caught Your Biggest Bass
Clay Goforth replied to Ämp's topic in General Angling Discussion
1/4 oz PJ's Finesse Bait Football Jig. Watermelon w/ Orange. Post spawn skinny fish weighed 10lbs. A month or so earlier and should have gone 12... -
Thanks for the mention there, Dano...we appreciate at least a look from people when considering a new rod. And our custom rods are in a much more affordable range. Thanks again.

Hey Phil, If you are talking about the ones that are vinyl decals which are cut on a plotter, a dollar a decal is a pretty good price...I have a plotter machine that I use to make my own decals for window stickers or whatever and the vinyl cost plus tape cost plus time to put them together adds up pretty quick, especially when you throw a margin on top of that. If you are talking about clear square stickers with the logo printed on it, those should be done for cheaper. I can check with the silkscreener we do our shirts and things with and let you know what price he gives if you would like.

I am still up here, fishing all over the place and am supposed to fish the Clackamas on Wednesday...If we have any luck with springers or steelhead, I will definitely post some pics. The pacific northwest is an unbelievable fishery... Kevin, how was living in Eugene? And thanks for the comments.

Hey all...I know it is not technically the "ozarks," but I have gotten some cool shots while hiking around up here with my wife on our 5th wedding anniversary. I have a few more of some different stuff that I will post if it is wanted...

Lower Buffalo River (rush To Buffalo City) Report
Clay Goforth replied to Clay Goforth's topic in Buffalo River
Two guys out of the four of us got birds...they killed them at the same time because they came in strutting together. Pretty incredible story: We get camp set up on Friday afternoon around Horseshoe Bend and are debating about whether or not to even go out. We decide to, so me and another guy set off in one direction and the other two guys go another direction. We walk into the woods maybe 100 yards and start calling and get a bird to answer so we move a little further and set up. We can also faintly hear the other two guys calling. All of the sudden we hear the gobblers hammering off back at them and then 2 minutes later 2 shots. Our bird quits answering so we make our way back to camp and the two other guys show up, birds in hand. One was 22lbs 9.5 inch beard and 1inch spurs. The other was an older bird, 10 inch beard but worn out spurs and weighed about 18lbs. From the time we left camp until they showed back up took all of about 15 minutes. Ridiculous. We only got to hunt two more times, once the next morning in which we called a bird in from 400-500 yards away all the way up to 50 yards and then a circling bald eagle sounded off above us and the turkey took off. As far as the fishing went, it was pretty fast everywhere unfortunately. The big pools were even running. Great for floating but not good to fish in. The only relief were the backsides of some of the islands where we could get into an eddy pool and slow fish. The smallmouth bite was one that seemed like whenever we got to a spot where we could slow down the presentation we could get a strike. If I had it to do all over again I would have brought the stuff to carolina rig lizards for them because you can drag that down stream a little slower than you have to work a bait in from the side of the boat. One of the guys that killed a bird sent me a picture so, here it is. -
Some friends of mine and I floated the lower buffalo this past weekend from Rush to Buffalo City. We were doing a combo turkey hunt/smallmouth trip. The turkey hunting was great with lots of toms sounding off. The smallmouth fishing was a little slow relative to how I have seen the bite in the past. This part of the river was dingy green to slightly brown in some spots and was moving faster than I like to fish. Still we managed to catch around 25 smallmouth in the 2 days which was actually more like 1 day of fishing because the forecast ran us in early. We actually probably only got to fish for roughly 4-5 hours between turkey hunting, camp set up, and motoring on the river. The hot baits seemed to be a texas rigged 4 inch green lizard, green and brown gitzits, and a few different combinations of hula grubs. The problem with the hula grubs is finding the place to slow fish them around submerged rocks without the current taking you off too fast. Each time I could the boat in a position to fish a hula around a big sunken rock in an eddy pool, there was a bite. We unfortunately didn't really take any pictures on the trip, but big fish was caught on a hula grub, black with red flakes, fishing around a rock. The fish was a big female full of eggs and weighed around 2.5 to 3 lbs conservatively.
