I had an awesome time. The Kings definitely hold that name for good reason. I am going back up to the Togiak on the 20th of this month for some more.
-
This was the King I caught last week off of Kodiak Island, AK. Thought you all might enjoy seeing a big fish.
-
Just got back from Kodiak Island...Caught a bunch of Sea Bass, a bunch of halibut and this monster...
-
I was fishing on Kodiak Island and got what I feel like are some great shots. I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would put some of these out there. I have some other cool shots but I think these are probably some of the best. I also have some pictures of fish I will post in the general fishing section.

Great Information guys. Dano, I will look into the glass market. We are currently building our own blanks for our other products which include basically all your powers and actions of a freshwater rod. We are just looking to move into the CUSTOM fly rod market and add a builder to our website that will be a fly rod builder. I am open to any and all suggestions on what people prefer as their power action length combinations on their rods. We are currently in the process of revamping our builder to function more effectively and would like to be able to add a fly rod builder. Our blank craftsman has over 30 years of experience in building blanks for fly rods, spinning rods, and casting rods so I know the blanks will come out solid. I just need to know more of what the preferred weights and lengths are so when we come with our initial release, we are at least filling the needs of the basics. Hope this kind of clears the muddy water a little. Thanks for all the information up to this point as well.

My New G2 Spinning Rod
Clay Goforth replied to twosets's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Thanks for the props George. I am really glad you like the rod. I love fishing with them too. But I would I guess, since I designed them. -
The situation: My business is looking into expanding into the building of fly rods The background: I know fly fishing basics as far as casting, stripping line, etc. The problem: I don't know the first thing about fly rod weights, preferred lengths, preferred actions, and so on... I need to have some pretty in depth discussions with as many people as I can who are fly fishermen about their preferences in fly rods. They don't have to be lengthy, just somewhat detailed about what you like. If you are interested in helping a fellow fisherman learn more about an area in which I am not well versed, please reply to the thread or send me a PM. I really appreciate any help that can be offered and I look forward to learning from the people on this forum who seem to have so much knowledge on this particular subject.

Unfortunately we didn't see any animals...I need to head over to Ponca soon. I am getting the itch to float. George, I will be sending your rod to you tomorrow. Got the check yesterday. You know, had to make sure it cleared before I shipped the rod Just kidding. Terry, have you fished any of those streams around there? I didn't know if they ran all year enough to hold fish or if they were wet because of the recent rain...You are correct though, some of them look like they would hold some mean smallmouth. This place, in all honesty, is kind of difficult to find. The first time I went, if I hadn't had someone with me that had already been, I don't know that I could have found it. You go to Boston, AR and turn left on some little dirt county road...Drive for two miles and the road forks, stay right, drive two more miles and the road comes to a T. Turn left, go over a small bridge and there is a turn in on the left. NO SIGNS. You basically have to just know where to go. It is a brilliant place to visit though. I have been on a couple of these wild goose chases...I have been over and hiked for the Devil's fork on Richland Creek below Jasper a couple of times and still haven't found it. There is no trail cut, you have to go off of landmarks and creek beds. Unless of course you cheat and use GPS.

With all the flood photos and losses I thought I would throw some pictures of God's glorious work out there to remind us that while nature can be devastating it is always beautiful.
-
OH MY GOSH!!! IS EVERYONE JUST GOING TO SIT THERE WHILE THAT LITTLE BLACK BOY DROWNS?!?!?!?! Good to hear you guys are doing okay.
-
Phil, Sorry I missed you there in BP...Praying for you and yours on the raging river...If there is anything else we can do, let us know.

The flooding down in south Fayetteville, on the west fork of the white river, which eventually ends up at twin bridges, is flooding worse than the other two floods a couple of weeks ago...
-
Went out and fished today. Put in at twin bridges, went up Richland creek and fished for about an hour and a half with very little luck...we only caught 3. Changed and went up the White about 3 - 3 1/2 miles past the really hairy shoal up above the backside of Waterford subdivision. They were hard to locate but once we did, about 10:45 this morning, we hammered them. Caught roughly 60-70 and brought home 25 good slabs to filet. Also caught a 25 inch hybrid...don't know exactly how to figure the weight but I guesstimated it to be around 6lbs. I will post pictures once I get them from my buddy who I was fishing with today. We pulled off the water at about 2:30 so all in all, a pretty good day. Caught the all but the hybrid on either a chartreuse or a black/silver little fishy on a 1/8 oz jig head...The hybrid, well, can't reveal all the secrets...
-
Well, guess I was mistaken...Don, how did you guys fare?
-
If I am not mistaken, insurance won't insure you for flood if you are that close to the river, no matter how seldom it overflows...One of the chances you take of river front property...

We have a cabin there at Buffalo City, but it is the one that is right across the railroad tracks in the circle lot area before you cross the tracks and go down to the public access...That is the highest I have ever seen the water in that area...I guess it was 3 years ago when the water got up to the base of those cabins and washed out the White Buffalo resort pool area but it never got into the office...this is unbelievable. Keep those in northeast Arkansas in your thoughts and prayers as the news is reporting the White and the Black Rivers are out of their banks over there and won't crest til mid-week...

Big Brown...or At Least, I Am Proud Of It.
Clay Goforth posted a topic in General Angling Discussion
For those of you who don't frequent the White River thread but still enjoy seeing pictures as much as I, I decided to double up a posting of my fish from the weekend...It is the second biggest trout I have landed. 26 inches long, 17 inch girth at the belly and weighed in at roughly 9.5lbs...feel free to post your thoughts... he was released to fight again another day... -
Here is a better picture of the fish...Thought I would put it out there...I ran the calculation on the fish as well... It was (26x15x17)/680 = 9lb 12oz...taxi I may be calling on you on this one...
-
It is official...the whites are on the move and are a good way past twin bridges...We found some this afternoon and this is the result of a couple of hours of fishing...They are not schooled up like I have seen them in the past but have a feeling that this week, if it will stay warm through the day, could be some great great fishing... Also, some friends of mine who I met up with out there had caught a 60+lb spoonbill...unbelievable sight...I don't know why but I didn't snap a picture of it...I am sure some will be floating around though.

Awesome patfish...thanks, it looks great...doesn't really matter that it washed me out, nobody is looking at my purdy face anyway. The fish is what is important and it looks a lot better...I left the house and was a few miles down the road and thought, "Man, I forgot my camera. I wonder if I should go back and get it...NAHHHHH." And look what happens...Always happens like that it seems. Anyway, thanks for the work on the photo and the comments from everybody. I was in somewhat of a slump on big trout...

I was fishing a Rapala rainbow X-Rap...I should add that I was in the catch and release, but on this bait I took the front treble off and bent the barbs down on the rear hook..I was not aware of this until actually last year that you could use a single barbless treble hook at the Bull Shoals Dam C&R...This is my new favorite bait for medium to high water, for obvious reasons. The action on this bait, to me, is freakin awesome. With a jerk-jerk-jerk-pause is how I was fishing it...I had a few fish come and sniff it close to the boat, but you are right, when they commit...the commit HARD...when that brown hit, I was about to start the sequence again and I nearly I had the rod jerked outta my hand. Unfortunately, I won't be on the water tomorrow. I have a white supreme with a black stripe and a big rainbow trout next to the supreme logo on each side...Also, my truck has a big G2 Custom Rods sticker on the back glass...so likewise, if you see me out, feel free to say hello.

Fished friday morning for a few hours at twin bridges and up the first shoal...They are definitely on the move but aren't in big schools yet. I picked up a dozen while I was out but mostly small males...i had maybe two that would have made a filet worth while.
-
Gentlemen/women, I just, and I mean just got back from the river and had a pretty slow day of fishing...Today was more or less a lazy day of fishing because of my company being some great guys but not as enthused as I about fishing...We caught roughly a dozen rainbows on jigs before I switched to throwing a bit larger bait which resulted in only one fish, but man, was it a beauty. The picture quality is lacking but I should have a couple of other, better pictures possibly tomorrow. I know you guys like the eye candy. To give you something to jugde size by, I am 6'3" and 260lbs...just thought I would throw that out there for a comparison.

I am headed out in the A.M. and will try to find them...Will let you guys know the results...
