  1. I just bought 4 of the the Luck E Strike Warthogs friday and took them to the lake saturday. After and average of about 10 minutes each one of them would fill up with water. No visable holes on the baits. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think I should try to take them back to Bass Pro or call Luck E Strike?
  2. Does anybody know if the water has cleared up around the McCord Bend to Blunks area? I was wanting to drive down there Wednesday Night to gig some suckers, but didn't know if it was still to dirty. Any help would be appreaciated!!!
  3. Last summer we floated from Charity to Hico and about a mile and a half below charity I caught a 14” Rainbow on a crankbait. My dad said there is a pretty good size spring that comes in right above charity that he’s caught some at before. Anyone have any idea how far that is from bennet? I can’t find it on any of my maps. Memorial weekend we floated from KP bridge to Moon Valley and I caught two 15” Rainbows on white War Eagle spinnerbaits. They smashed it a lot harder than some of the smallies I caught. I hooked another nice one the next day when we floated from Moon Valley to River Front campground. I agree that more will come up stream with the water being higher this year, but that trout I caught at hico is just plain crazy!
  4. It’s a good float but way to far to float in one day and really fish it. We are planning on floating that stretch this weekend unless the rivers come back up. There are no public access in-between hico and big johns, which is why we are taking two days to do it. We had permission to the river there, at about the halfway point and its still a full day float on down to big johns. I'm not saying it cant be done in one day because I know it can, it's just how hard you want to work at it.
  5. We stayed out from the bank/brush line about 20 to 30 yards depending on the bank. I used a 1/2 oz of weight to get to the bottom then drift our minnows up and down the banks. I'm not sure if all the crappie have spawned yet or not, in my opinion some of the crappie will spawn in deeper water depending on specific water and weather conditions. If they do go to the bank to spawn it’s going to be hard to find them, or them find my bait. Does anybody know what the deepest a crappie will build a nest?
  6. We broguht home 20 decent sized crappie eventhough the fishing was pretty slow. The fish we caught were in 22 to 30 foot of water right on the bottom.
  7. The river is still up but has good color. Water temp was 63.8 on my graph. We through swimmin minnows at the brush to catch some goggleye. We ended up bringing home 5 goggleye and 5 crappie. We also caught several short smallmouth. Does anyone know the water temp above bennett?
  8. The water was up about a foot, and had a muddy tint to it. We floated from the bridge above 215 down to 215. We caught about 15 whites and 2 crappie on white rooster tails. The fish were stacked behind any current break in the river. Depending on the rain we get today the water should be perfect by the weekend.
  9. We fished around the 215-bridge area both Saturday and Sunday catching 2 limits each day. The bite was slow until we found one spot where we caught our last 10 fish in about 10 minutes on Saturday. White was definitely our most productive color. I was really surprised how slow we had to fish with the water temperature being 62 degrees be the end of Sunday. We had a couple of fish that were just over 16 inches but mostly just kept the males.
  10. We were above taylor fishin from a boat. I am wanting to go this coming saturday, but this rain is going to put the river at flood stage again.
  11. We ended up with 40 whites and a 20-inch walleye. That doesn't sound that bad, but they have really slowed down from the way they were biting. Did anybody else catch any up there?
  12. Coming from Morrisville on 215, you cross two one lane bridges and then take a right on S60, when that comes to a T, take a right and you go right over the bridge. If your going to be fishing from the bank I would walk that bike trail to the river (sorry to the fly fisherman I swamped there last night), or fish a couple hundred yards below the 215 bridge. Oh, they wanted a very slow retrieve last night.
  13. We fished above Taylor Bridge on Saturday and still managed to catch a few limits. The water looked like chocolate milk but didn't seem to make a difference. I've seen lots of fly fisherman catch the whites on a fly rod in years past, so I decided to put down the spinning gear and try it myself. What a blast! I caught about 10 in the amount of time it took the guys with me to catch 3 each. Once again color didn't matter as much as presentation of the bait.
  14. Looking at the water level now it looks like the river is still up 8 foot or so.... I think your going to have a hard time finding the bank to fish from. White was the dominate color for us that day, but with the flood it will take some experimenting. If I was going to fish from the bank, I would go to taylor bridge on the Little Sac.
  15. We ran up the little sac river Sunday. The 3 of us ended up catching 44 whites on the normal baits mostly anthing with white/silver. 21 of them came from one little eddie about the size of a truck. It was only 2 or 3 foot deep in that area with muddy bottom. I can't wait to get back out, I hope the rain they are predicting doesn't push them back to the lake. This is another one of those trips with my dad that I won't soon forget.
