thanks guys ya i have currently been using SA mastery headstart line.....looking for something not so beginner

I am getting some new line from my girlfriend for my birthday that just passed and having trouble deciding. what do you guys think, I have a 5wt sage launch, with a konic and i do most of my fishing at current and meramec. I know I want floating line aswell.....just looking for some info from you guys on what lines you like and why.

a buddie and I used to fish the creek very often in the past recent years.....if you park at the trail entrance under highway 55 and walk up there is a very nice hole under the railroad bridge iv caught a couple bass out of there in the 14 to 15 inch range over the years and i only fly fish it now but a few years back we used to catch some nice 20 inch channels out of there and lots of small yellow cats. Water is supposed to be nasty from what i see with all the signs but the fish seem alright. never eat anything out of there. also under tesson bridge there is a nice hole.

thanks for your suggestions guys, i wanted to used black swiss staw had none on hand, and the rubber legs would make it a lot easier to tie, had no black left though. i did forget to mention i did wrap under the chenille with .25 lead wire

first try, let me know what you think black chenille wrapped for the body 2mm black foam on top black biots mayfly wing cutter to get the right shape for the mandibles sry about image size i dont have the time to mess with it right now

ya a buddy and I were there last tuesday.....started fishing around 6:45 in the morn and with in the first hour and half I landed two small ones and my buddy landed a very nice 17 incher....also i lost two in that same hour and half...after that...nothing for the rest of the time..we ended up leaving by 11. caught em on size 12 olive nymph and tan scud.... i have not tried any of the small wild streams yet but plan too....id like a lil more info on them before i head out though ..so anyone thats fishing blue springs and or little piney how is it?

I have only kept 3 montauk trout so far this year....not a big fish eater... more about c&r...but about the gar last year i managed to get in a 36 incher and brought it home for my dad....really hard to clean not much meat but what you can get off of it...if u do it right and fry it, didnt taste to bad........they are fun to catch though i plan on actually chasing some on the fly this tuesday just for some fun.

just wondering if anyone has been here in the past few days, might head down for a few tomorrow but dont want to it its gonna be very high and muddy.

I believe it's nice to see an old fish like that swim away, rather than get ate it which proly is not that great tasting to begin with.

my dad, my two buddies, and i went fishing this past week from tues to thurs we camped at montauk. it was a great trip for all of us, the water was perfect as was the weather. we fished both montauk and the upper current but most time spent was out side the park on the upper current. we all did very well, the whole trip. we fished from the park to the boulders everyday, tried baptist for the first time, and fished in the park at the camp ground section and upper flies only section. This might sound weird but iv been fly fishing for proly 2 and a half years now and have never caught a trout on a nymph imitation. Iv tried with no success. well made it a point this trip to do just that and i have to say wow. 90% of all my fish i made happen on nymphs and i realized i just wasnt doing it right before. it was great i believe this trip was my highest number of fish caught so far out of the park. we were losing alot of them just coming unhooked but if we caught every fish that we had hooked for alteat 3 or 4 seconds id say we each would have proly had 25+ fish everyday. what we used that worked was olive nymph size 12-18, olive scud size 14-16, olive zebra midge size 18-22, red beadhead san juan size 12, also pheasant tail, zug bug, hairsear, olive caddis larva, rubber leg stone that at times they were going nuts for, and a olive sculpin that produced my first and only fish at baptist. all in all awsome trip even had a armadillo come through the camp one night.

What kind of illegal activity?

thanks guys for the info..ill make sure if he does use a rapela it is outside the park....and i planned on letting him through some nymphs if my buddies and i figure something out thats working well. ..well we r leaving around 5am in the morning ...ill be back thursday and let u guys know how it went...i hope all goes well

thanks ya i have some single point roosters and some white olive and brown jigs....also picked up a couple small rapalas today....so the treble hooks on the rapalas are ok? or should i replace with two single point hooks or one?...

taking my dad down on tuesday...he will be spin fishing while i fly....wanted to know if he could use a wooly with a spinner on it in the flys only areas and outside the park....and what are some other good this for him to through on his spinrod in those fly only sections?

thats funny because I am heading down tuesday and was planning on trying the ol hopper rig out....ill let u know how it goes

dont know why so many people are against this "trout cam".....whats the big deal, is it really hurting anything?

just got the okay fromt he ol lady to let me go camp at montauk the 8,9,10 of june....hopefully the water is all leveled out to normal by that time .....cant wait, anyone else going around that time?

Thanks for the info guys....i dont plan on heading there ne time soon but i am heading to the park monday ...taking my dad and a buddy....my dads never caught a trout so im hoping to get him in to it....ill be fly fishing he will be spin rodding it.....what you guys think i should bring for him? I have trout worms and size 16 scud hooks for the worms....was thinkning on maybe buyin a jar of eggs for him to try as well.......any other suggestions?

I have not read a post about cardiac hill or any other trout fishing on the meramec river in a long time...whats the deal?.....does nobody fish it anymore....is the fishing that poor?
