you should try out Carondelet Park both the lakes are good i have way better luck on horseshoe lake its the smaller lake...i recently caught a LM bass outta there every bit of 5lbs ....a buddy of mine was telling me tha the mcd recently shocked the two lakes and on boathouse the bigger of the two smalles bass was 15inch and biggest was 20inch and on smaller lake it was like 13 to 19...let me know if you decide to go i might see ya up there
i recently got a pair of the fish gillz sunglasses for 50 bucks.......i love them they cut the glare great and they are very light weight.......and another plus is that they float....and can be put in hot water and then are able to be molded around your head to get a perfect fit........good deal i think
hey guys during a trip to montauk recently i busted my rod tip off my cabelas ft plus fly rod....they dont sell the rod anymore so cabelas gave me store credit so i purchase a sage launch fly rod....i was just wondering exactly what the warranty intails.....for example if i happen to break my rod tip again what is sage going to do and am i going to have to pay out some more cash???
thanks for the info .....i do understand how you would foul hook them but i am talking about 4inchs of line between the two fly's for the use with a "sercet pattern" a couple buddys of mine and i figured out to work well.......anyway i know the sign says nothing about the issue but i had heard someone say they thought the use of a second fly was illegal but i guess they are just wrong.....proly shouldnt have believed him when he told me he had been coming to montauk for 20 years and has never looked at the huge lunks in the hatchery and has never even attempted to fish the c&r area
i fished at montauk from monday and i just got back a couple hours ago.....i thought that the fishing was pretty good .....i fished the campsite area most of the time and headed up to the catch and release area for awhile everyday.....ended up catching 9 out of the c&r four of which were browns.....and two bows over 20inches thanks to the help of a few others on this site ....y2k's caught the majority of my fish in the camp site area....... also caught a few on orange scuds and suan juans......besides the rain on tuesday the weather was great....this was my first time to the park and i can say that it is 10 times better than meramec springs...........thought id post about my trip....and thanks to those who told me about the y2k for making my trip better
never thought id be asking about tying a suan juan but i recently bought some Chenille and no matter what i do i can not get the chenille from falling apart.....if there a certain type of chenille that works for the suan juans or am i doing something wrong?,.....help please
I am heading to montauk for the first time late march a buddy and i r planning of using our fly rods the whole time down there......what should we expect, what are the good holes down there...and also what are the hot flys for this time of the year any info from you guys would be great...thanks
At Maramec Spring i once netted something that was flesh colored and looked like a hugh worm but was about as round as a fat highlighter marker and 8 inchs long and had no eyes that i could see ......it was floating down stream wiggling like crazy....i have never seen anything like it....
A buddy and I are thinking about heading down sometime this week....both are pretty new to fly fishing at the spring....just wondering what flies we would have our best luck with ........thankx..
stopped by the lake today for about a hour and a half.....ended up being a good hour and a half....caught 9-10 and they were hitting just about everyting you could drop in the water ....some guys around me where getting them on every cast.....on the hot line....it says they put in 3600 trout.....is that correct...sounds like alot of trout compared to what they put in carondlet
