Great report, sounds like fun. I'm still without a boat, hopefully my axel will be installed soon, I might have to try the river! Brad

Not a problem - in the water!!!! Seriously - right now you can catch pretty good fish on main lake points throwing jerkbaits, however they will be moving soon. If you get in the right creeks you can catch some great fish right now on wiggle warts, square bill cranks or jigs. The upper ends of the lake will warm faster and be better earlier, you can find fish on either arm, however I prefer the Big Sac side. You can catch several fish in googer, sons creek, greaser, birch branch, mutton. All the creeks hold fish, some have better quality than others. Just get out and give it a go - good luck! Let us know how you do. Brad

Made it out to Pomme late last week, sorry for the delay in the report. The fishing wasn't as fast and furious and I expected, however did do pretty good. Put in at Hermitage State Park and stayed within a mile or two. Unfortunately lost my bearings in the boat trailer just about the time I got to the lake but hey I was already at the lake might as well fish a couple of hours!!!! The lake was 4-5' high, even higher now! The water was pretty clear you could see bottom in 6-7 feet. Water temp was 39 degrees. Had 10 crappie in the livewell in two hours, should have had a limit but didn't get them in the boat. It can be real aggrivating when you get the fish to the top of the water and then loose them, still a great day to be out. It had been a while since I had been out so I missed a ton of bites. Had about half dozen bass, a couple nice keepers. Fished brush in 20-25 feet of water and all fish were down in the brush. All fish were caught on Shimmer Stix's, this is a new bait a friend of mine is making and it is AWESOME!!!! He's getting ready to market them soon. I fished the 2.5" version, however he will have a great 6" version for bass sometime this spring. As we were testing the 6" version three weeks ago a friend caught a 8.25 pound largemouth!!! It was a pig. When he gets them ready to market I'll let you know. Have a great one! Brad

I'll be surprised if it clears up by the weekend. With no running water to pull it down the lake it might be dingy for a while. I'm planning on getting out tomorrow or Friday, will post a report - good or bad. Brad

Stockton Lake Guide Service - Bob Bennett. www.fishstocktonlake.com I've been with Bob numerous times - you'll catch fish but more important will not lack for entertainment and develop a friend. Brad

The ice is 8" thick at Bolivar Landing. It will be a while before it thaws. Brad

Had the opportunity to head out and do some crappie fishing the last couple of days. Friday - The bite was fast and furious. We caught several fish in just a few hours. The fish were on the brushpiles along bluffs, just tap your jig into the top of the brush and bam! Fished 15-25 fow. Saturday - A harsh cold front came through making it cold while the bite slowed down. Started after lunch and struggled for the first two hours to find a pattern and active fish. Didn't expect to catch very many with frontal conditions but did expect to catch a few. Finally found the fish down in the brush, only had about a 2 hrs of daylight left when we finally found them. Three of us ended up with 25 nice crappie and a bonus walleye. They were not biting very fast or hard but we did manage to catch several. Had a great time with a couple of friends who I don't fish with near enough. The fish were caught on Crappie Slayer Jigs, color - blue disco, limerald disco, white w/ blue flake, ghost blue. Brad

Hope you have a great day on the water and catch a boat load. I haven't been for a few weeks but they were on fire. I imagine they will still bite fairly well but may be a touch slower now the weather has gotten a lot colder. I have been catching several in Haverstick around the trees but you should also try Bailey (one cove south) and the next cove south of that. Last time out I caught several on the edge of the channel where the channel swings in close to the bank. The depth of water didn't matter much, fish were probably 3-10 feet down. I've heard some good reports coming from brushpiles. Not sure about minnows, don't normally use them, just use jigs. The gas station at Nemo does carry minnows but don't know what time they open, you can also buy them at the new gas station at Carson's Corner just up from the dam, Pomme De Terre Outfitters just outside of Pittsburg or the place just across 64B from White's Marine. Good luck and give us a great report! Brad

Lindly is where we were at. Put in at Nemo and stayed within a couple of miles. Brad

Made it out to Pomme for a few hours Wednesday afternoon. Here's the scoop: Weather: Horrible, cold, rain and wind Water Temp: 52 Fishing: Excellent, excellent, did I mention excellent. Not a boat in sight, not even one at the ramp, guess too many deer hunters or just sane people who didn't want to be cold and miserable. Started fishing standing timber in 10-20 fow water, caught fish 4-8 down. Moved to a channel edge, with the water down the channel is on the bank, caught fish right on the bank. Used jigs, color didn't matter. The bite was lite but the quality was great. Fishing 2 1/2 hrs and two of us had 40 pretty good fish. Good luck and keep your lines tight! Brad

Crappie Fishing on Pomme still continues to be great! Went out today and three of us had our limits in 3.5 hrs. We fished standing timber on the Lindly arm fishing all new areas. It's great to fish a new place and find fish. Of the 45 keepers we had 10 nice toads! Here's the details: Standing Timber Lightly Stained water 1/16th oz jigs Color: any Depth: 2-10 feet down in any depth of water Method: Pitching and vertical Hope you get out and catch a mess! Brad

Thanks for the update! Brad

Had the privilege of heading to the lake over the weekend. The crappie fishing is hotter than a firecracker on the fourth of July!!! I was real surprised how good the fishing has been, they are currently pulling water at 2000 CFS and dropping the lake approximately five inches per day. Many anglers have already given up on Pomme because of the draw down, however it hasn't stopped the bite just yet. Hopefully it will stay good for the Crappie Slayers Tournament next weekend. Friday - Just went out and checked new spots for last Saturday's tournament. Kept 20 and threw back several in a four hour prefish trip. Saturday - Two limits in about three hours. Sunday - Two limits in two hours. Monday - 12 keepers and several shorts in 2.5 hours. Caught fish on standing timber and brush piles. The fish were scattered and some spots were cold while others you could pull several fish from. Used jigs - white, blue, gray, chart, pink - didn't really seem to matter. They were anywhere from 2' deep to 15' deep and anywhere in between. Caught several good eaters but lacked some really big fish, only had one 13" on Saturday. Wish I knew where the bigger fish were, if anybody wants to share I'm all ears! Hope you get out and get on them. Brad

On a serious note if I can do something to help the environent I'm all for it. Being a responsible outdoorsman is important, however that is my decision. It is my concern for the environment that leads me to pick up trash, fishing line, etc... However being concerned for the environment can be taken to extremes, EX: never going fishing because it hurts their mouths, disrupts their environment and will lead to their demise. I'm not going to intentionally dump a five gallon bucket of lead into my favorite brushpile or dump my used oil in the lake. Unfortunatley there are a few morons who have no respect for anything and give everybody else a black eye. I have no problem using a lead weight and will do my best to be responsible with it. I just don't want a govt genius to tell me what I can and cannot use when I go fishing or it won't be long and the same genius tells me when I can and cannot go fishing! Brad

Too Funny! Or is it to funny, or two funny. Can't remember had too much lead for dinner. Brad

Glad you had a good trip. Hoping to get on them sometime this weekend or perhaps early Monday before the crazies get out of bed. Brad
