Thank you for the information Al. You gave me several good options. I have been on the Current, Jacks Fork and Black but that was 30 years ago. My son has floated the Eleven Point this year. I am looking for new water. Water level maybe an issue as it usually is this time of year. Right now I am leaning toward the Meramec. Hopefully it will not be too crowded.
I am looking for some help/advise on float/smallmouth fishing in SE Missouri. My son and I would like to take our kayaks and maybe camp 1 night. We will need a shuttle. I know we will need fishing licenses but will we need any permits for our kayaks? We plan to go sometime between 8/11 - 8/15, during the week to avoid the weekend activities. Does anyone have any recommendations?
There are extremists on either side of every issue, including this one.
When Bertrand Russell was asked what he would say to God if he met him, he responded "Sir, you did not give us enough information."
I guess I am a agnostic too. It is important to recognize that "message films" have an agenda and it behooves us to know as much as possible about the people who make and distribute those films. This applies to both sides of whatever issue is being portrayed; both sides are equally guilty of propagandizing. Keep an open mind.
3rd Generation Picker here. Although I have pretty much retired from guitar playing...too many broke knuckles. Sold my 72 Telecaster a few years ago. My son has picked up where I left off and left me in his dust. He has two acoustics, a Martin and a Taylor, and two electrics a Tele and Danelectro 56-U1.
Anyone had a chance to check the conditions near Yellville? I am considering a trip next week. Must get away from the snow for a few days. Never been on this water. Any info would be appreciated.
Hello all. My name is Mark Hedger. I live in Central Illinois, work in NW Indiana. Love to fish for smallmouth. Grew up in Southern Illinois during which time I floated the Black, Current, Jack's Fork, and Buffalo. Looking forward to reacquanting myself with the Ozarks. Terrific site!
