Stopped by the bait shop in Forsyth today and as usual got to talking about fishing. There is one lucky guy out there. He left a picture of himself and one very big walleye. 15 lbs. I am green with envy!! Just my luck he didn't say where, what kind of bait, etc. Durn!
As a life long resident of Missouri and at the age of 66. I can remember when there was no deer or turkey hunting in this state. The fishing sucked and trout fishing was only for the WELL TO DO. During WWll and Korea then Nam most people couldn't afford the outdoors like we do today. I belive a lot of people have become spoiled with all the easy access to game and fishing of all kinds. The hunting and fishing has improved 100 fold in my life time and only seems to be getting better every year. Have fun and leave nothing behind, not even a foot print.
I am looking for a better knot for tying florocarbon to Power Pro. I am using back to back uni knots, The floro breaks at the knot rather easly for 15 lb test line. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance
Put in at Elbow Creek Sunday about 10:30 am. Went up in the cove and fished a brush pile I hadn't fished before. The fish were there but wouldn't bite. I drifted over them several times and nothing. Several LMB fisherman showed up and I didn't see them catch anything either. Maybe next time.
Berlkeys baits in a tub have been out for awhile now, so I would like you opinions of them. ( minnow and leach). I am thinking about trying them for crappie, walleye, etc. Thanks Lonnie
Bill stopped by the new bait shop in Forsyth Friday to get some stuff. They have a picture of a really nice walleye caught at the dam on a spinner bait. If you hear of any thing Please let us know. No one is talking. Thanks and stay healthy. Lonnie
All is not lost!! I have a sister who still loves me and she said she will come over and baby set my wife while i go fishing..HOT DOGGGGGGG!!!! God luck with the Kitties. Tight Lines Lonnie
Tried to get all those Honey Do's done. Didn't fish. Yesterday my wife had foot surgery. Gusee who will be the chief cook, bottle washer and nurse for the next several months. I will need a setter soon! Any takers??
Anybody know if the fish are starting to school up in deep water yet? Honey Do's almost done and want to get back to the water, only this time I'd like to catch a mess of fish. LOL
I compared the Tracker with Lowe. I bought the Lowe. Much wider and not as tippy. Get the 4 cycle engine though. Much quiter, cleaner and trolls slower. 24 volt trolling motor is the way to go. The 175 Crappie runs shallow to. Mine has a 50 hp Merc. Was cheaper too.
I have been putting in from Hogan Creek to Elbow Creek. Been fishing the flooded brush. Now I don't feel so bad, at least I'm not the only one having a hard time. Tight Lines Lonnie
Any one catching any crappie on the Bull? I could use some tips from some of you "Old Timers" lol I have been beating the brush where the old shore line was. Not much luck except for LMB shorts. Thanks Lonnie
I will try to make it. Sounds like too much fun to miss. I have a 40 ft by 10 ft tarp. Will bring that and a smoked turkey for those allergec to fish. Will firm up plans when it gets closer. Would love to meetall you in person and pick your brains. Lonnie
I use Vanish in several different strengths. I have noticed lately that my line doesn't seem to hold its test strength. It has been out in the sun a lot. Will this cause it to break easly? It isn't just in the knots either (improved clinch) it breaks anywhere. Thanks Lonnie
I have spent the better part on the last two days on the water between Elbow Creek and Hogan Creek. Yesterday started out like gang busters. Caught a LMB short and a nice white right off the bat. Kept the white, spent the rest of the day drifting over brush with minnows on a white jig. After many jigs I finally got lucky and caught a 12 3/4 in Crappie. The first of the year. Today I put in at Elbow. Fished the brush like yesterday. If it wasnt for all the LMB shorts the skunk would be all over my boat! If it isnt too cold will suck it up and try again tommorow. Hope springs eternal!! LOL
