  1. A friend of mine from Taneyville and I went yesterday. Didn't hit the water till about 11:00 am. Started out trying to catch some crappie vertical jigging. That didn't work out so I took him for a ride up the lake. Got to Tucker flats and decided to troll for eye's. Right away he caught a 23 in eye. His first eye. By the time we had to quit we caught 8 eyes, lost 4 or 5, and threw the rest back. Shorts ran between 15 and just short of 18 in. Fishing from 25 ft to 32 ft fow, running cranks from 20 to 24 ft deep. Any one having any luck with crappie? Tight line!!
  2. Went to Beaver Creek last week. The water is half way over the new parking lot. I hear that the Corp is going to raise the lake by 10 ft. and leave it there. Sounds likr some of the stories that floated around last year. We'll see.
  3. I used to have the same trouble. I found a new knot on the internet. Don't remember the name but it is very simple to tie and hasn't broken yet. Here is how to tie it. Run both lines parallel, then make a loop by moving the tag ends back toward the rod. Put a finger in the loop you just made. Twist 3 times , then run the tag ends back through the loop. Wet and tighten by holding the tag ends and the main line. Good Fishing
  4. Guys, don't get caught whizzing over the side of the boat. Fella got caught and was fined $150.00 and put on the sex offenders list. 3 lb coffee can and a good look around !!
  5. My boat tarp is 3 yrs old and leaks like a sive. It is probably streched out too. Any suggestions on a good waterproofing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lonnie I need a spell checker too.
  6. Being retired has its benefits, but I used to play hooky from work once in awhile too. Couldn't stand all that pretty weather going by. I think the weather pattern has been the same for at least 50 years.
  7. thanks for the suggestions. I will give all of them a look.
  8. I am looking for a floro that will present a bait in a natural looking presentation. I fish for walleye, crappie, blue gill & white bass. For walleye I vertical jig and troll. For crappie, blue gill and whites I vertical jig and cast. My primary line is braid on my walleye rigs and I am looking for a floro that will hold up to the knot. Uni to Uni. The rest the line will depend on how deep I have to fish and the lures. My pan fish reels are spinning so I want a line with little or no memory. Thanks Lonnie
  9. Thanks for the info. I will make a note of it and give it a try.
  10. walleye and crappie then maybe white bass.
  11. Any deep water fisherman out there? I am thinking of going deep since the water is still so cold. Any tips will be appreciated. What to look for in changes in the bottom or shore line, etc. Thanks Lonnie
  12. According to what I read walleye and crappie start moving when the water hits 40+. Is anyone catching anything? besides a runny nose! I have talked to several people and none of them are getting any fish. Is the water still too cold or what? I have been slow trolling, vertical jigging and casting with a slow retrieve on the bottom and still nothing. Please share, I need all the help I can get. LOL
  13. Are they still planning on dumping water from Beaver this weekend?

    Today

Went again today. Can't waste such good weather. Lots of boats, no one catching fish, at least any one I talked to. I found the fish though. They were in 40 fow about 2 to 3 ft off the bottom. Where is the dynamite when you need it???? Got one little bite, I think. It might have been a fish hitting my line by accident. Put in at Beaver and went below k dock. Water is around 42 degrees. It is raining now so I am glad I got the boat covered up, even if it is in a mud hole. My yard is a real mess now. lol Hope the rain warms the water. Better days ahead!!!
  15. cabin fever finally got to me, so I hooked up, put 3 inch ruts in my yard, and went to Swan creek park. put in, a little rough going down, and fired up. Started feeling good! Motor started right up, just like a new one. Turned on the HB and the new DI worked perfect too! Went up to the Pothole and things started going down from there. Most of the water is 12 ft or less. Found one spot that was 17 ft. Temp is 41 degrees, running water thru the wheels all the time. Just as soon as I got there the horn starts blasting. I think this will be good since I catch most of my fish there when there is a strong current. Wrong! They let down one board and dumped lots of trash, trees, etc, then raised the board again. Not one bite. Didn't see anyone catch any thing either. Run to Barker Hole, nothing , snag the bottom lots trying to vertical jig. Run to Beaver Creek. Same story only some one has placed a large dock across from the marina. Looks like part of the marina docks moved while they are building on. Temp 41 degrees every where. Got over the Fever though. Maybe next week when it warms up a little.
  16. Does anyone know how to repair or replace the end on a ducer cable for a 997cSI? I broke a pin off and lost the left side of the SI. Thanks Lonnie
  17. Any one know where I can get pvc pipe scraps free? I want to make a bunch of beds with them. I used to work for Conco so I can get the concrete free. Just need the pipe, any size and any length from 1 foot up. Thanks Lonnie
  18. I have just about decided to park my boat until the water level drops again. Trying to fish in places that are 20 foot deeper than they were has really limited the places to go and they are crowded .Besides I need to let my finger heal a little more. Table saws have no mercy. LOL
  19. Anybody catching any fish down there? was wondering if the brush is too deep.
  20. Thought it would be good fishing with all the water not coming over the dam and the wheels running. Boy was I surprised. The fishing was like me. SLOW Dale caught a nice carp and I caught the same log salmon twice. What a Day. Had fun any way. There is a crew working at replacing the broken and bent boards. Looked like they were about halve done.

  23. what are you doing for wire? cutting up safety pin spinners?
  24. Dale any I went yesterday am. Right off the bat he caught a large rainbow. Then I hooked it to something that eventually broke my line. I couldn't slow it down on the last run and the line broke. 10# Never did get to see it. Then just minutes later I caught a 21 1/2 in walleye. by then it was 9:00am and we never had another bite no matter where we went or what method we used. I went back that nite and didn't have any luck. I wasn't the only one. there were several boats and people on the banks. didn't see anything being pulled out of the water. Wife and I are going to Buck Creek this weekend and try for some crappie. hope the rain doesn't mess things up.
