Hi guys, just got back and wanted to say thank you to everyone on the forum for all the info and tips I have learned since my last attempted trip in April (cancelled- weather). Without you guys, it would not have been the sucess that it was!! Like Techo said in a previous post, I almost cried when Capt. Don reported the shallow football jig bite was dying, but I found 'em elsewhere. Stayed in the Indian point area all week - I am more familliar with this part of the lake. Spent first 3 days fishing coves, in the past 4 years the morning and evening topwater bite has always been good this time of year - several 5+ lb. fish and many more smaller ones, NOT THIS YEAR . Did catch some keeper spots and SM on a wiggle wart in ghost crawdad in 10' or less, paralelling chunk rock and boulders, Also had several huge gills and 1 5# flathead on the wart as well. Then, THE RAIN thought back to earlier posts, ran up Indian creek to the end (10' or less), and BANG!!! Caught spots all day along fallen logs in the rain, all in the 2 - 3.5 lb. range, nothing huge, but after traveling 600 miles to fish, I was happy. All fish came on a 3/8 jewel jig in grn pum/grn flash with a gulp! nuclear nelly trailer in breen (copper) color. Fished until my hands went numb . Came back on Thursday with camera in hand-ZERO FISH- , funny thing about me and a camera, I never catch anything!!! Gave up, went back to resort to spend some time with wife & kids, took kids swimming off the end of dock also did a little fishing from dock (without camera) caught several short spots!! BPS lazer eye blade in silver/blue- Thanks Capt. Don !!! Friday and Saturday were also very good - spent both days all the way up little north Indian creek - 2 to 4 feet deep!! All fish came in and around newly flooded trees on 5/16 jewel jig in MO craw color with a nuclear nelly trailer trimmed down to fit jig. I tried other jigs, but didn't have as much success as with the jewels. If it wasn't for Techo raving about them, I probably wouldn't have done as well - Thanks Techo!! Also.. all fish fri. & sat. were LARGEMOUTH!!!! Biggest one almost 4#, but they were all keepers . All in all, I had a great time fishing TR, hopefully next April will be better weather and I can actually make it down this time! Thank you all for your informative posts, good luck fishin', and God Bless!!
