  1. Thanks. The 100 walks fine but the 85 doesn't walk worth a darn. I like the vertical posture for better hook ups.
  2. The weightless sinko bite was just stupid this spring. When the water was up in the buck brush I was catching 30 keepers (mostly bucks with a few big sows mixed in) a day. I had to wrap my sinko with electric tape ( where the hook goes) to keep from running out of baits. A sinko bite gets expensive. I like the chompers brand better than the original.
  3. I love the chigger craw. I found them on sale for $1 at cabelas and now have 30 packs. They will be gone in 6 months.
  4. Step down the cross members of the pier. It is easy and keeps you from jumping
  5. Ever try the half sinko as a trailer?
  6. Lmao! I love a good jig bite. Your love for the jig is like my love for the jerk bait. My passion is the cold water jerk bait but I will not turn my nose up at a good jig bite... Particularly for smallmouth. I like the 3/4 oz football but catch more on the smaller jigs. I mostly fish a big jig at night but I am warming up to throwing the meat in the heat of the summer.
  7. Good jigs are worth the money. Same thing with worms. A cut tail has an amazing action. Bass always love a little seafood dinner and key in on the crawdads. Funny thing, I catch more bass on crawdad cranks than jigs but I think that has more to do with the time of year. Big bite almost always comes on the jig.
  8. Is the new ramp in? Where are they putting it? I hope it is not where the current take out is as it would be hard to use for any boat.
  9. I can't get the smaller Sammy to walk right.
  10. I flip my line around every 3 weeks during peak season and then I throw it away. A month and a half is par for the course on most line due to my fishing volume.
  11. I keep three rods out at least. One with a plus one in a natural color, one with a brighter color (chartreuse belly), and a xd-80 as a small bait. Sometimes I will have a few more but I only have three baitcasters I like to throw jerkbaits with. I love jerkbait fishing !!!! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning knowing I can go on Saturday. I will pre rig at least 8 times between now and Saturday.
  12. I use the 110 +1 I think the bigger bill is a LOT tougher.
  13. Each to his own.... I won't buy the high dollar spinner baits (stick to war eagle) or Cranks (wiggle wart and fat free shad) but a few lures are worth the extra money. IMO the Sammy (lucky craft top water) and mega bass are worth every dime. I have a box full of smithwicks. They catch fish. You don't need a mega bass to catch fish, but it sure helps. You don't need a corvette, but it sure drives a lot nicer than a Honda. The Mega bass flat catches fish. I wish they did not produce the result that they do as I would settle for $8 xraps, but results matter. I boat at least 50% more fish on the high dollar jerk baits than the cheaper baits. The paint jobs and hooks are much better. A jerk bait may sit in front of a fish for 15 seconds before they eat it. The small details make a BIG difference at that stage. If you get a good lure retriever, you will rarely, if ever lose a mega bass. The fish wear them before you lose them.
  14. What are you thoughts on scent? I like the power bait trailers as I think the fish hold on longer maybe not more bites but they hold it a bit better.
  15. I spent a lot of years in school studying subjects that might better mankind. Now I study a fish with a brain the size of a pea. Makes you think... The senko bite is what kills me. So deadly yet so simple.
  16. Nice post. I agree that color can make a heck of a difference on some days. I have boxes full of different colors but matching the bottom is the one rule of thumb I stick with. Color matters but I put it far down the list. Presentation ( right cast) speed, size, then color. The first three are what you need to get bit. The last one (color) is how you get bigger and stronger bites. The experienced fishermen have the first three down to an art so color is all we have left to play with most days.
  17. I have seen the same thing trout fishing. Dropping from 4lb to 2 lb makes a difference.
  18. Green pumpkin for me also. I also get bit on black and blue for some odd reason. My night fishing colors year them up at times.
  19. I like it with a south wind.
  20. Tough day. I'm deciding between pomme and stockton next Saturday. I would like to get a few bonus walleye (or as in the past a majority of Walters) but stockton is sounding tough.
  21. Yes. I'll give you mine. They are junk for bass. Looks like a good saltwater bait.
  22. I love mouse for the lake. On the river I like black and white.
  23. Winter bass are always bigger but fewer in numbers.
  24. Buzzbait (smaller sized war eagles) and lucky craft Sammy
  25. Anyone ever break off with good quantity 10lb on fish? I haven't lost a fish on fresh 10 lb test in years.
