    I love fishing the megabass in water that is close to freezing. Every year I get my biggest bass of the year on jerkbaits in the middle of winter. I propose a bragging right photo contest. Biggest jerkbait fish ( bass or walleye) from today until March 1. Any takers?

    Nice bass! Pomme has some pigs if you weed out the shorts. I found 110+ 1 for $15 each this fall. Loaded up with a dozen new ones. Is that the bluff near the dam where the lake splits ( two arms meet)? I have caught some hogs on that bluff.

    I always throw the 110 plus one on ozark lakes. it gets down deeper and seems to be more productive most of the time. It also catches a ton of walleye. I don't like the pointer deep divers as the action changes too much. I have caught a ton of fish on pointers however I just cant stop throwing the 110+1.

    Yo zuri pins minnow. Trout color. Smallest size they make. The trout are stacked up on the shallow flat on the park side of the lake from the cove entrance where the ramp is down to the no boats cable. Lots of browns! They were spawning there last week ( I wouldn't believe it unless I saw it) so the rainbow were stealing the eggs. Look for midging fish also. You likely need a boat to get out to the fish. It's been off the hook good down there.

    How much are you looking to spend? I purchased a 18'9 triton this spring with nice graphs and a trailer for 25,500. Boat was new with a 150 optimax xs. Most of the alluminum boats were around 19k. An extra 5k gets you a lot more boat and the resale will show it in 5 years.

    I would look at a optimax two stroke over the four stroke. Lighter than a four cheaper and use the same or less fuel. And no oil changes.

    A motor that is near the max rating will actually use less fuel. It will not have to work as hard to maintain the same speed. The speed will be the same at much lower rpms. Now if you run the bigger motor full speed ... That's another story
