Hogfan, I couldn't have said it any better. The guys that qualified were just taking advantage of what was in front of em. Even if I don't like it, that's not the issue. The issue is to find a more equitable reward without alienating the other 300 fishermen. GETFISHED !!!

Good work captmac, It's just like I thought and I won't elaborate but they haven't done anything to attract me to a tracker boat, ha ha. I don't have near as much hesitancy to speak to Tracker Marine and Boat Co. Now I just need to decide whether to do it by phone, email or snail mail. Things just keep getting curioser and curioser. How do you say it? You just got to do what you got to do.! GETFISHED !!!

Natural Color Of Crawdads During Different Seasons
getfished replied to Fishin' Freak's topic in Table Rock Lake
Hey Fishin' Freak, You got some good answers there. I might add also that I have a publication I picked up free of charge at a show. It's titled An Introduction to the Crayfish of Missouri and is reprinted from Missouri Conservationist by Missouri Department of Conservation. It's very informative and you might even be able to view it online at their website. Good Luck. GETFISHED !!! -
Captmac, You make a good point. I'm sure they quite likely have what they feel is sound reasoning for their choice. When you see my signature in all caps it is a clue indicating a couple of things. 1) I have a lot of passion 2) When one's fuse is too short, it's difficult to wrap it very tightly. ha,ha. For those reasons some (including myself) mistake my comments for a rant, a vent, a diatribe, wah, wah. I still believe we have several legitimate points. I certainly don't begin to point a finger at these two invited qualifying teams. They very well may be just as upstanding and honest as the day is long. I feel that giving a team an invite to a tournament with such significant payback and nominal odds coming from that type of format is a slap in the face to all who fished the circuit that year whether they made the championship or not. Rule 21 as it is worded is not a good rule in Heartland. The specific Tournament these teams come from should be clearly noted in the Heartland Team Series so that all who fish are fairly informed as to how rule 21 can be unfairly administered against any who fish and invest in this circuit. I've got a two page letter I wrote on the 13th to Heartland but I'm hesitant to send it. GETFISHED !!! :

Well, I feel little better after reading your response. I fished the Team Series and the Pro-Am this year. I fished all 6 of the tournaments. I qualified with overall points for the Pro-Am championship as an amateur. On the Team Series circuit I was in 33rd place prior to the last tournament at Grand. We had a good tournament for us but not good enough and we fell out of the top 40. I did not fish the Big Bass Tournament at Truman. I agree with all the points you made and I think that Heartland could have accomplished their goal in a more just way without alienating some of their steady supporters. I committed about $10,000 to those two circuits not to mention a boat and a truck and my time. I didn't speak to Heartland about it because I'm not sure I could get my point across and that it would just be mistaken for sour grapes. My main perspective accepts the fact that the Tournament director can make these kinds of choices and I don't have to like it. The big issue for me goes to the Tournament structure or format these two teams were chosen from. I didn't read the entire rules but when tournament fishermen are allowed to start fishing anywhere on the lake you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see the potential for fraud. A simple lie detector test doesn't minimize this potential any. I know Heartland probably feels like everything is on the up and up. I would prefer Heartland choose these invites from a tournament format that is more of a standard format and more credible. I mean, come on, ... catch one fish in one tournament that you can start anywhere on the lake? I'm going to fish the Team series and the Pro-Am again for 2009 but if I still feel this way it may be my last season for Heartland. (PS) I think some of the apathy from the pros if there is any is because someone else picks up a lot of their expenses . GETFISHED !!!

When you folks mention the Glaize arm at LOZ, are you thinking above PB2? GETFISHED !!!

The Team Series Championship is October 18th, and the Pro-Am is October 19th held at Bucksaw Marine on Truman Lake. GETFISHED !!!

I fished as an amatuer this year with Heartland also. Any body have any comments on the two teams from another big bass tournament getting invited to fish the Heartland team championship? GETFISHED !!!

I know what you mean. I'm not having boat problems but boy my yard is an embarrassment. Good thing I live in the country! I went to the Rock in May and I should have mowed before I went. When I returned my grass was way up there. So I raised my finish mower up and the wheels were in the air. One of the pins fell out and the wheel fell off and one of the mower blades struck it and broke the blade spindle housing. The part was discontinued and the available option was expensive and required extensive machine shop work to make it fit. So I looked in the paper for a few weeks and have not been able to find a decent used finish mower. Next I checked with all the implement dealers within 150 mile radius and found only one used finish mower. It was $800 and had some problems. I had no idea they would be that hard to find a good used one. Now I have located a couple different mowers that are new but a couple years old, they just never got sold. I may purchase one of them. I think I have learned my lesson to not put off that danged mowing. GETFISHED !!!

Whack Em, Thanks for the response. It sounds like the setup on the Nitro is plumbed different than my Champ. I don't think my aerator pump will pump through the spray head. I could be wrong but I will double check with the dealer soon. I think when I want to fill my well I have to turn the valve to fill and then turn on the aerator pump which has a manual and an auto mode. Once filled to the desired level I shut off the aerator pump and turn the valve to recirculate and switch on the hydroair pump which recirculates the water through a spray head thereby oxygenating it. I also add some ice and and some rejuvenate. Didn't mean to hijack the thread but wanted to make sure I'm properly handling my catch. One last question. What's the final word on hydrogen peroxide? I think maybe no good but I witnessed my fishing partner dump some down the gullet of a deeply hooked bass and then placed the fish in the livewell that was treated with rejuvenate. the fish was basically belly up for a short while and then little by little that fish came back to full vim and vigor. I'm not sure what to attribute the fish's recovery to but needless to say I was stunned and my partner says peroxide will do wonders. Is he right? GETFISHED !!!

We also ran both aereators all night I don't understand what the above comment means. I have an 04 Champion 187 that has a hydro-air pump and an aerator pump but I only use one or the other. The livewell valve as I understand it closes to prevent surface lake water from entering the livewell when set to recirculate. That is when I use the hydro-air pump. When the valve is set to the open position and the aerator is on my understanding is the aerator pumps surface water in to the livewell and when the water level is full it simply goes out through an overflow drain. Is this correct? How do you use both pumps at the same time? I am apparently missing something. I certainly would like to extend as much care as possible to my catch. Thanks for any feedback. Thanks Eric for confirming my gut feeling. Dirty shallow stained water using drop baits around wood. It's hard to make myself go that route when there's so much pretty water to fish on the way!!, if ya know what I mean. I will be down on Wednesday if I can put the pieces together for a few days and you guys on this forum have really given me something to sink my teeth into to help me get started with a reasonable hope for some success. Thanks GETFISHED!!!

Thank you for helping me stir up some interesting options. I would have to agree with some of the other guys that the "shoe" is a swimbait. I have a few of them. Where to fish them? On top? On bottom? Up lake , stained water ? Clear Water? What retrieve technique? Any suggestions. I also have heard you can be a hero or a zero with one of these things. Any tips? GETFISHED!!!

Since I am from Kansas I don't get over to the Rock very much so I read about it alot. I must say with all honesty that when I found this forum I was totally, and I do mean totally, blown away. Nice site! Thanks for all the priceless info. Since I started reading this forum and trying to apply it on the water, ( on the Rock or not ) my catch rate has gratefully improved. My question is this: I am at Table Rock and I have been fishing grubs and split shot rigs as suggested for the current conditions we have now . As a result I have methodically located plenty of fish from several different points and have been catching them good. Now I decide I would like to catch a fish or two from the next larger size class, say 4# to 6# fish. What do I do ? 1) Fine tune the current approach? 2) Start over with a completely different approach? 3) Other All suggestions are appreciated and the question arises from wondering if you guys ever get tired of catching 2.5 lb to 3.5lb bass. I've never personally caught more than 5 or 6 bass on any one outing but I do remember in my younger days catching whites in large numbers and becoming somewwhat bored. (PS) I'm just a tad bit jealous if you can't tell. GETFISHED!!!!

Whoa! Bill, Ive' been reading here for a few months and I just can't get enough! Bill you're a braver man than me to post your number out there. I wrote it down, but only for very judicious use. You see I am a late bloomer in my mid fifties and just now returned to competetive fishing as I just now barely have funds to travel to the Ozarks to enjoy it. My outdoor responsibilities are piling up from neglect because I've been spending so much time focused on bass fishing. As to your comment about the route that Rick took a while back with a marked map for a fee and an informative newsletter for a fee I can say from experience that it's all good. I purchased the map from Rick in 07 as I am from Kansas where 15' is considered deep . Not only did this map assist me in catching fish on the Rock it bolstered my confidence in locating similar locations, in addition to providing nominal income for Rick. I would reccommend it to anyone in a similar situation as mine. As I entered the 08 season I set some reasonable tournament goals and I am happy to say that I am on track to accomplish much more. It is through forums like this that I recieve much info to make my basic outline or plan if you will. For that I am very grateful and I hope you can continue to see value in your approach as it has obviously served you well. Sometimes it's rather uncomfortable when people show us that they are human at exactly the precise moment when we really aren't in the frame of mind to reach for something higher. My hat is off to you for your efforts that have really helped me even though we have never met. On a lighter note, I'm sure you have had that passing thought of where bad info intentionally given even though humorous at first eventually comes to roost. This forum has made me a better fisherman. THANKS !!

I'm kind of new here and read this thread with interest. In the spring of 03 I had a tick stuck to my groin.I removed it but didn't get the entire tick. I didn't think too much about it at the time. Four or Five days later the inside of my groin became a little inflamed sort of like an ingrown hair. I watched it over the next few days and it became much more infected. Deducing that I had probably not gotten the head of the tick removed it seemed like I needed to go to the Doctor to have it lanced and have the infection treated. Four or five days later I got sick with a fever and other symptoms which at the time I just thought it was jet lag as I had just returned from an overnight trip to San Francisco. I got sicker over the next few days so my doctor prescribed a regimen of oral antibiotics which I was told would treat me for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease. The antiobiotics knocked it back but didn't cure me.After the duration of the prescription has dissipated in my system the disease flared back up with a vengeance. 104% temps for several days. The doc sent me to a specialist who put me in the hospital. The specialist's opinion was that I had typhoidal tuleremia,(rabbit fever). At one time this was a fatal disease in lots of cases. The treatment was daily intravenous antibiotic called gentomycin for fifteen days. Even though this drug had some nasty side effects I didn't have a lot ofchoice. After five days the side effects were severe enough that the specialists took me off of it and put me back on some oral antibiotics with the hope that I had had enough of the other to get me well. The damage was done. I recovered from the tuleremia alright but suffered permanent damage to my vestibular system,(equilibrium/balance mechanism in my ears). As a result I wasn't able to return to my career and early retirement/disability became my status going forth. It's not all good but it's not all bad and I just wanted to offer this experience. I always use a spray with DEET now.

Hi! I just registered. I'm 52 and love bass fishing tournaments. My tournament experience is limited and I am re-entering that scene after a twenty year hiatus. I will hope to gain info and knowledge on Ozark lakes.
