Thanks for the info on ramps. That seals the deal for me. I'll be hitting Taney tomorrow afternoon with my dad. I talked to a guy that was on Taney this morning and he was afraid he wouldn't be able to get the boat back on the trailer at Cooper Creek because of the current. He tried to run to the dam but found an armada of drift boats coming down and didn't want to risk rocking them so he was drifting back from Fall Creek. No fish info though.

I just talked to someone in the office that put in at state park yesterday. Hope this helps.

I am probably going to Taney tomorrow. I was looking long and hard at trying Table Rock but can't get any good info on a ramp that is useable. I have seen plenty of info on ramps that are not uesable. If I come across any solid info on a open ramp at Table Rock I'll pass it along.

I'll be down Saturday if I can find a clear road. Any word on ramps that would be worth trying? Cooper Creek is where I usually put in but I don't figure you will be able to get to the courtesy dock. Any input would be appreciated.

Moderator - Please move to Taney forum. I had a case of brain fade. I'll be down Saturday if I can find a clear road. Any word on ramps that would be worth trying? Cooper Creek is where I usually put in but I don't figure you will be able to get to the courtesy dock. Any input would be appreciated.

Any recommendations on what to throw with the gates open? I'll be down Saturday morning to give it a go unless I hear something outstanding is going on with Table Rock.

I haven't been to Roaring River in awhile and wanted to get caught up on the regs. I take it I still need a daily tag. Where do I pick it up? Is there a dedicated C&R area during the regular season? Where is the fly section? I have only fished the upper end by the hatchery and am looking to try other areas. I saw Tim's post on what flys were working. Is Tim's shop open on Sunday and if so what time? Sorry for all the questions but I want to get caught up. Thanks.

Water Patrol made the right decision on this. It will also protect the launch ramp by the campground and make it easier to load and un load. I wonder if they will do the same in front of the marinas at either end of the landing.

I have to say I am a little grateful for spring to delay a little. I have been covered up at work and haven't had a chance to get out in over a month. This weekend I am changing trolling motor batteries, installing a new locator, detailing the boat, and loading in the tackle and making my spring shopping checklist. The weekend after that it's time for a shake down cruise and some practice cast. A few more weeks it should be game on and I'll be more than ready. Hang in there.

I draw the line at Branson. I don't know if the lake changes or just my mindset about how I should be fishing and what I should be fishing for.
-
I appreciate the info. I'll be down in a couple of weeks to get the boat wet and see if I still know how to fish.

Bomber suspending long A. They had these in the Excaliber series a long time ago with the rotating trebles and it was by far my favorite jerkbait. Colors were clown and a natural shad color. I have some Lucky Craft pointers, but still end up fishing the long A as my go to bait.

I have not had a bit of luck fishing Bull creek. Do you have any words of wisdom for me? I haven't went to far into Bull because the mouth seems very shallow (2' or less). Am I missing a channel or is it just skinny water? I'll take any advice you care to offer.

I apologize if this is a bit off topic, but with spring coming up and folks heading to the lake I wanted to relate a recent rash of thefts that truck and SUV owners need to be aware of. Two vehicles at my office had the catalytic converts stolen while sitting in the parking lot in as many days. There were a few others in the immediate area that were hit also. I did some research and this theft has become common as tweakers (drug addicts) look for easy cash. Most of the catalytic converts are being stolen from import light trucks and SUVs. It wouldn't take much imagination to figure out that a parking lot full of tow vehicles at any of our public ramps would make an easy score for these scum bags. I'll be etching my license plate number on mine to at least make it possible to identify if the police do recover it. There is also a security system available that would make it tougher than a quik saw zaw job and I am checking prices on that. Other than that I am going to keep a weather eye open and report anything that is suspicous no matter how mundane it seems. Hopefully this will save someone a little grief this spring.

I was down Sunday when it went from shirt sleeve weather to cold and rainy. The wind was up, but I did not see any thing out of the ordinary. It did move the leaves around and get the branches creeking.

Newbie Question: Crackleback & Griffith's Gnat
MOBass replied to CanoeDave's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I have caught a bunch of fish on both of these patterns. I would be sure to have both. I fish the crackleback dry and either strip it or drift it. I like to mix thing up and found that if I had fish that wouldn't commit I could get some of them to go by giving the line a little strip to give the fly some life. -
I was down there yesterday also. The weather change was pretty tough. I fished by the boat ramp for awhile and caught some small but active browns on a crackle back. I drove up and fished between outlet 1 and 2 about mid morning. Not much for me, but I did manage a few on a glow ball. I almost broke out the spinning rod and just may have to next time. Glad to hear you caught some.

It looks like the water might be off in the morning. The wind will be up though. I am probably going to give it a go for awhile at least. If the fish don't bight I'll check out the new fish ladder and stop by the hatchery. Good luck if you go.

You just messed up my weekend. Now I'll be itching to go down and throw a big plug all day. I know it's an all or nothing type of deal, but I would gladly give up a couple days worth of catching stockers for a shot at a real brute.

Give me a shout if you need some help with your group in the spring. If work doesn't have me on the road it will give me a good reason to get out. What do the kids need to do to join up? I'll be out with the fly rod starting in December. As long as they don't run a bunch of water and I can keep the ice out the guides I'll be hitting the trouphy area as much as I can. Roaring River is sounding pretty good also. At least I know they won't be running water there. Cheers, Thomas

I always thought you would find more smallmouth in the Branson area and above. I was under the impression that smallmouth did better in cooler, clearer water than largemouth. So far I have yet to catch a smallmouth or a spot from Taney, but those pesky largemouth seem content to fill in.

I started earlier than I have been lately and hit the water by 7:30A. Trout were thick around Branson. I saw one of the guides putting the hurt to the fish with the float and fly. I really need to break down and pick some up, but that means I have to buy yet another rod. Christmas is just around the corner though.... Back to fishing. I caught a few trout on a gold spoon. The silver would get followed, but they just would not eat it. I firmly believe that gold does better in cloud cover and today just reinforced that idea. Bass fishing was really good for me today. I went through cranks, spinner baits, and jigs for nothing. I fell back to the stick o and found that a twitch pause really turned the fish on. I saw several flash and charge the bait before they ate it. The grade of bass was better than my last few trips. I am sure those fish have been there and today I just figured them out better. I did get worked by a nice fish in the weeds. That fish ran straight to the weeds and made a good wrap in them before pulling off. I have been fishing the stick o on 8# and may have to beef up a little fishing near the weeds. The sick part was that Christmas music was playing at the Landing. Not ready for that yet. I may just have to sneak one last trip before the holidays. If I don't someone catch a few for me.

Will Be At Taney Nov 9 - 12.......suggestions Welcome
MOBass replied to Thom's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I'll be down Sunday and will probably put in a Cooper Creek and run down to Branson. From Scotty's to the Landing has been good for me over the last several trips. I try to catch a few trout in the morning and then run further down the lake and go bass fishing. I am not sure what the trout are feeding on, but in the AM they seem to feed pretty good before the sun gets up. They take a small chrome spoon and rooster tail good and I am sure the fly guys can give you better advice if you are fishing the long rod. My best guess would be that they are on midges. For bigger trout I fish from Cooper Creek to Lilley's. The bank across from Lilley's gave up a real nice brown for me and I have seen fish there on most every trip. The only problem is leaf clutter in the water. If you want to play with the bass check some of the creeks. Turkey has been pretty good for me off the boat docks and Bull creek is a favorite of several guys, but I haven't fished it much. Good luck. If you see a white Nitro 882 DC that's me. -
Looks like I'll be fishing Taney Sunday. Table Rock wasn't too kind last weekend and I want something to tug the line other than rocks, sticks, and fishing rods. Any word on bass fishing on the lower lake?

Good report. I was down two weeks ago and met the same results. It was pretty well combat fishing. I put the fly rod and waders up until after Thanksgiving. Hopefully cooler or better yet cold weather will start thinning the herd a little. My best trips have been with snow on the ground, the tempature around freezing, and less people than I can count on one hand within sight.
