  1. still got some but we eat alot when go go gigging we almost always go with 3 boats 10 to 12 people some gig some just go to hang out and have a fish fry every time we go it just seems to go good with the fish and taters.two nights a week thursday and saturday nights. I need to kill 20 this year saw a heard at each end of the field this morning on my saturday morning roadtrip
  2. I would go buy a DODGE deisel solve all the problems
  3. slot limits are a good thing in my owne personal opion as for the deer I like the 4point restriction one one side in north Mo.here in webster county the last few years we have an October urban hunt regular season and a December hunt with unlimited antlerless tags for $7 each and I can still drive around and see upto 20 30 40 deer in fields I killed 2 with my rifel and 6 with my boe last year and dident even put a dent in the population when I first started hunting you had to draw for antlerless and luckey to get it and you were doing good if you seen 8 deer in the season.
  4. to get a good healthey fish population you need to take out alot of the small bass a small pond olny needs 30 or so and several large blue gill and about 30 crappie after the crappie get a good spawn dont hesitate to eat some of them they will take a pond over and add 50 channel cat in the mix. It sounds bad but if you are over run with small bass and noware to go with them cath about 20 of them keep them alive and throw the rest out on the bank and do that untill you dont catch to many their isint to many fish that can eat a 8 to 10 in bass. getting a natural balence between all fish is the key to making a good pond or any fishery.I took 2 3lb bass and 20 about 1/2 lb to a pond full of 2in blue gills 2years ago I am going to check on soon I bet them bass are getting big and fat the three pounders may be in the 6 to 7 pound range by now I dont know how fast a largemouth will grow.
  5. I am looking for another pond with nothing in it found a couple I am always riding around with a stock tank full of fish I secretly stock alot of ponds around webster county. A friend of mine is the same way he has a pond that the water stays cool and once in a while we get in late dont feel like cleaning fish and turn them lose in his pond so far you can catch walleye white bass and goggeleye along with crappie bass bluegill and 2 flathead catfish and alot of the fish has been in the pond for 4 to5 years . All because of a stock tank to haul minnows to the lake and haul fish home.
  6. flatheads are hard to catch anyway if I fished for flatheads olny I would have alot of bad fishing trips. I may go 3 or 4 times and not catch any and the next time catch 5 very unpredictable fish.dont catch many after July untill late september to november.Does anyone got a good stradigy for hot weather flathead fishing deep, shallow ,flats , river channel ,exd.
  7. I hope it goes down alot between now and next weekend ready to do some fishing at tunnel dam
  8. we all might go to Bass Pro and get a group rate on three new ones.(lol)
  9. I dont do any good catching suckers on a rod an reel so I usually bluegill out of the pond and haull them to the river seems like when the flatheads are on the move they thin the pearch out of th river where i fish. It is at the bottom of a 24ft spillway about 15 miles upstream of lake of the ozarks and the end of the road for fish moving upstream and they just stack up like cord wood. I usually use bluegill 3 to 5 in like to use them about 8 in but I guess you cant do that anymore. Have done good on shad in the lake put them on live for flatheads as they die the blues dont mind. the neatest thing is when you are drifting with jugs and all your jugs disaper in about three seconds when a school af hybrid bass come thrugh.
  10. when fisher19 gets him one I need one someware between 6 & 10 mabe a little bigger if their is any out their for sale this time of year.
  11. 6 to 8 pounds are big ones the onley problem useing them for bait that I can see is me keeping them out of the hot grease. I like to eat them about as well as anything if prepaird corectley.
  12. my grandfater says a 5lb flathead will choke itself to death trying to eat a 12 bluegill. Never tried any that big usually use 4 and 5 in gills may try suckers some this year never tried heard thy work good. I cought a 13in smallmouth 2 weeks ago on the osage fork had new indentions halfway up on boath sides of the fish looked like a possible flat attack.
  13. I like live minows and crawdads around big rocks and brush in 3 to 5 feet of water and in 1 foot af moving water not real fast and not real slow around willow trees
  14. my grandfather my two kids and I went to a pond today brought home 37 nice bluegill smallest 8in biggest 11 most of the fish were 9 & 10. Had a good time.
  15. looks like tomarrow we ma get a break for a few days (tunnel dam here I come)
  16. @3.45 a gallon it cost me 26 cents a mile to drive @ 13mpg gas without ethanal was getting 22 mpg and if gas without ethonal was 5.50 a gallon it would cost 25 cents a mile. Everyone keeps saying $5 dollar gas this year if you put a pencile to it like that is is already more than $5. actually 5.75 would be 26 cents a mile compaird to 3.45 etanol blend
  17. the Big Piney and the Osage Fork are the onley tributarys to the gascoade that have leingth limits onley to their confluence with the gasconade not the gasconade river. chapter 6 of the wildlife code get a regulation book and carry with you and let them argue with it while you catch fish. I had a guy going to turn me in one time over goggleye 5 miles above skline drive bridge I told him to go ahead maby I would have my limit when they get here. Then I asked him what the leingth limit was on smallmouth because I really like to eat them.(I dont really just told him that) the conservation department never showed to investigat. I think most people just tell you that to see if you will turn you fish lose.Or mabey just cant read or dont bother to read.
  18. I always carry a wildlife code book in my tackel box let them argue with that. I will read it again to make sure.
  19. I dont think their is a leingth limit on the Gasconade. In some of the tributaries on the fork it is skyline drive bridge withch is just down a few hundred yards from the Orla Mill on Plaster's Empire Ranch their is 8in limit on goggleye. Dont get cought on that place. He ownes land on boath sides of the river an the land under the river to. Thats what they claim anyway I dont know how the law is anymore so I just dont fish their just to save problems.
  20. go to the store at Bennit I think they have just about everything you need in several diffrent price ranges. their are so many diffrent typs of line and leaders for diffrent typs of water and what fish you are fishing for they can probley help you better than I can they sold me the stuff I have. cost around $200 you can probley get set up a little cheaper and I not sure I anyone knows the maximum amount you can spend. the rig you have will probley work just fine.
  21. I dont know wher buckshaw is can it be found on a map? thats bad not knowing where something is on a lake I have fished as long as I can remember. I base everything out of Osage Bluff an the Pomme arm of the lake. Were the fish in the coves.
  22. I run 91 octane in my boat dont know what 100 would do the cheap gas just dont have the power sence all gas in missouri can contain 10% ethanol and dont even have to tell. My mounteneer use to get 22 mpg now olny 13 and they say ethonal is better but I dont think they were talking for you and me when they said better.
  23. I mostly use ancord jug lines fishing by myself lot easyer to run the lines. Sometimes I have someone with me an stretch out some trotlines but can be very dangerous by your self. Not many people around here are into staying out half the day and all knight so I leave them on the pourch. Seems like I catch most of my fish between 1am and daylight
  24. I brought my boat saturday sounds like its a good thing
  25. A person could make some money lanching and loading boats for the people jacknifing trailers on the ramp and getting sideways on the trailer. kind of a balagh parking service for boats. Might be a money maker on the poupular tourest launches
