nice, haha. I've had that happen one time to me, I was so disappointed. I think I'm going to buy one of those bps pond prowlers so I can fish the river. How do you catch the smallies this time of year, is it much slower? I've always fished for them when the river was down and it was mid summer.
-
Nice report. I have had a day like that (where my trailer tire blew). It was awesome to get to meet you at Bass Pro Shops last week.
-
Nice report Al, when you put into riverside access of of o, the first rapids you come to, that's my wife's family farm on the left side. Her farm is all along till the second set of rapids. It's a great place to smalie fish =)
-
Well, I had the chance to finally go. No pics though. River is down, it's down the most I have seen it since the big flood 2 years ago. Water is clear to slight tinge depending where you are. Fishing was slow for me, lots of small hits from google eye but not from big smallies. I'll admit, I'm out of practice though. I haven't got out a whole lot this summer. I did find one smallie on the fly rod with a clouser minnow (white and chart) and found a 13in spot on a jig. Might head back down today and see what's going on. Wish me LUCK!
-
Set that hook Bman, its not a fly rod =) You'll get em. Nice cat even though you weren't fishing for him.
-
Very nice Bman, wish we all could have seen it. I've seen them in there when the boys take me out at night gigg'n in the fall. I just laugh when people tell me there aren't big ones in the meremac. You'll get em next time! =)

The real is last years curado the 101D, it's left handed, new in the box. $120.00. The Rod is used but I've only used it probably 3-4 times. I've decided I don't like 7ft rods. It's a shimano compre which carries a lifetime warranty through shimano. Asking $60.00. Email me dr.heaberlin@gmail.com if your interested.
-
thanks for the report bman, I was down in cuba and almost went but I figured there would be people everywhere. An amateur fly caster like myself + lots of people = very dangerous.

Shoots the .22 mag. Simmons scope 4x32 200 or OBO. PM me or email me at doctaj@charter.net

Cody has it right. I use the exact same thing for the same line. Tieing braid to mono, I use an albright, have to wrap it 7-8 times. Tippet to leader, surgeon knot.

I fish tournaments from time to time. Most of the tournaments I fish are with friends though, you know nothing serious. But how often do you think people cheat? The reason I bring this up is b/c I witnessed someone cheating during a tournament. On May 2 I was with my friend down at lake of the Ozarks. These guys that were friends of his uncle stopped by and put 3 fish in his basket off the dock. I asked my buddy why there were doing that if he didn't fillet them and he told me they release them around the dock after a day and hopefully they hang around and increase the fishing around the dock. I believed him. So Sat. my buddy and I go out and catch 3 keepers and one huge crappie that hit my shaky head. Before I got back down to the dock from lunch, he had already put the bass in the basket. So around 2:30 these guys call and tell his uncle they have a 4lb bass they want to show. When they showed up, the didn't even dock, the pulled the basket up and emptied it into their live well and took off for a 3:30 weigh in. I asked my buddy about it, but he told me it was their business. I disagreed. My buddy said it was no big deal tournament for giggles with no money involved. I didn't believe him. From them talking back and forth and me trying to listen carefully I found out they were fishing a roofer tournament, got 8th place, and around a 200 check. I hate cheaters. If I catch somone cheating, next time I'll have video evidence and they will go to jail. That's why I posted in the Lake of the O section if someone had heard of the tourny. I looked up the Regada permit and there was the Roofers Mart Inc tourny. I've contacted them already. Of course, with no evidence nothing can be done. I'm watching for them to update their website though and show the results. I know one of the guys was named Steve but that's it. Even though nothing can be done to these guys now, we tournament fishermen need to put the fear of God in these guys. I'm sure we all remember the jones incident.
-
Are you serious? Yes they catch smallies =). I've got a pick of a 20incher from the meremac that I caught on my ultralight....it was a ride for sure. I use the smallest ones though.
-
Nevermind, I found what I was looking for.

Al, Working at BPS, I've never heard of that problem. This is a huge heads up for me. Shimano is one of the top sellers. I would either take it back to where you bought them or send them back to shimano for warranty work. These are the newley redesigned symetreys right? If it is the new shimano design, I don't know what to tell you but to get a different reel. Surely something could be done to fix them.
-
Anyone heard of this tournament? It was on May 2, 2009. I don't know where it took out of. I do know I was in the osage part of the ozarks, so it couldn't be too far off. No more than a 30 min boat ride. I need to get in contact with the tournament directors of this tourny. Thanks. PM me please.

nice, yeah, I can't wait to get out there, but the water is still too high and swift for me!

Amen Greg! I wish they would all just get a long. Snagged in outlet 3, your missing the picture. Yes statin are for cholesterol. High Blood pressure and statin's go hand in hand. More than likely someone with high blood pressure is going to take a diuretic (make them lose water) and a statin. I know there are people out there but I havn't seen a pt yet that was only on statin drugs. Ususally they are pre-hypertensive if not hypertensive already. Look up the new research studies. Pubmed, ebsco, or just google. You will see what the research is saying. Next time you think I mispoke, it would be nicer to pm me rather than call me out. I'm not trying to give anyone advice on the drugs you are taking. I was just trying to make a point. I was not trained for that and I do not have an expertise in that. That would be like you coming to me for pills and me going to the md for an adjustment. Neither would know what they were doing.

I'm not knocking the medical profession. If it wasn't for medicine, I wouldn't be here today. I had and have horrilbe asthma, I was born with it. There are many family members that wouldn't be here if it wasn't for medicine. Chiropractic gets a bad grade due to how we were all raised. If you hurt, take a pill. Pill's just mask symptoms, not fix them. If it's broke, take it out. Don't alter your lifestyle. Will your high blood pressure pill (statin drug) keep you alive, yes it will. Do you still have high bp? Yes you do, the pill didn't fix anything but pro long your life. You also have to realize that the AMA has had it out for chiropractic. Wilk v. American Medical Association. Read about it. Basically the AMA would not refer to chiropractors and falsely advertised against chiropractic. Many people don't know but Wilk won. Haha, your physical therapist sounds a lot like a chiropractor. It's funny how chiropractors are trying to be physical therapists and physical therapists are trying to be chiropractors. My mother inlaw is a PT. They are actually trying to "mobilize" segments now. That's what we do of course. I've had 3 years and a half of adjusting instruction where some like a PT has none or a weekend seminar of it. Of course, I give my patients exercises to do while I'm treating them or my adjustments aren't going to help. It's the combination of pt compliance with the treatments. If PT is the road you went and it worked, great. We are more alike than different. I can diagnose however, and a PT can't. PT's are at the wilm of the referring doctor. Some of you all may think chiropractic is a night school. I've had been in school for 7 years and people who don't even have a bachelors tell me all the time that I'm just a chiropractor. They have no idea.

No problem, KC. Certain things just set me off..hhaha. Denjac, yes a recessed trolling motor pedal would def help. Unfortunatley, my boat is old school and doesn't have one. This would keep your pelvis from staying unbalanced or not as bad as one just sitting on the floor. Just like if you wear you fat wallet in your back pocket all day, it will do the same thing. Back braces are fine. What gets most people in trouble is they try to lift too much when wearing one. They think they are superman with one. They forget it is just that, a support. Core muscle strengthening will always help back pain. It gives stability in the spine. But in all reality, are we all going to do our situps and back bends in the morning? Probably not. I'm probably not the only one with a little extra weight in the front. =)
-
Wow, where do I start? I don't know if I can address everyone's questions or thoughts in one reply. Hours on the water kills my back too, right in the mid back. Most of it is bad posture. I notice when I stand or lean for long periods I tend to slouch which makes my extensor muscles in the back work over time to keep me straight. That's more than likely why you are all having back pain during fishing. No one here knows me personally, but I'm a no bs guy. I'm not a salesmen, and I'm not going to offer miracles. Chiropractic works, or we wouldn't still be in business. Thing is if you want a pill, go to an md. If you want surgurey, go to a orthopedic surgeon. If you want an adjustment, go to a chiropractor. If you want a massage, go to a massage therapist. All these doctors are going to treat you by how they were trained. Vacation wrote " then you have to keep going back until I quit fishing 50 years from now". If you go to a medical doctor he will give you a bottle of drugs that you must take every day until gone, right? A chiropractor has to adjust you for his treatment. So what's the difference of you taking a pill everyday or getting adjusted once month. I can't treat you unless you come in. Most people use chiropractic as a tylenol, they use it when they are hurting. Chiropractic is much more than that, it's a lifestyle choice. You don't have to believe in chiropractic, it's a science. I could go into explaining how the adjustment stimulates the nervous system with mechanoreception, afference, efference, but most wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about. You all can agree when I say structure affects function? If an engine isn't put together correctly does it work well or work at all? People need chiropractic, but they can choose not to come in. You don't have to brush your teeth or go to a dentist. Your teeth will fall out, and maybe you can get some replacements. They are not making replacement vertebrae for humans yet. I could go on with analogies but I think you all get the picture. Muscles pull not push. When you have sloppy posture, it makes your muscles work harder to maintain yourself in the upright position. When you over work your muscles, they cramp, spasm, burn, cause pain, ect. Being on the boat all day, really all you can do is be aware of your posture. No slouching. Orthotics (shoe inserts) will also greatly affect loading. If you sit in a full seat with back, get a lumbar support. Butt seats are not going to be good, but hey I'm not giving mine up either. Heat works best for muscles (not on inflammation though, be aware there is a difference). Biofreeze is the same as icy hot, it works too. I can't tell anyone to take any kind of over the counter meds b/c it's against state law, however sometimes I will take something if I can't stand it. =) I think short term, chiropractic isn't going to be a big fix with this. Everyone has different problems, some are chronic and some are acute. Chronic conditions will take much longer, and remember chiropractic is natural so it's going to take longer. I had a pt come in. She was 46 and never been to a chiropractor. She was unsatisfied with two weeks worth of treatment. (She only came in twice) She expected me to fix 46 years worth in two adjustments. That's like saying an obese person is going to lose all their weight and be skinny in a month. It's not going to happen. Beware of Chiropractors? Give me a break. Beware of medical doctors. How many people have md's and do's killed b/c of perscription drugs? Did you know 180,000 people die every year due to iatrogenic reasons? (look up the word, it means due to complications of treatment) We just accept it b/c the medical model is the gold standard. Do you know how much mal practice insurance is for a chiropractor, a year? Due to all the people we hurt, good coverage will cost you maybe 3,000 a year. How much is a md? Oh yeah, in the hundred thousand dollar range. Hmmmm, wonder why. Bottom line, you have to chose a good doctor for you no matter what they do. There are bad ones in every field. I could go on forever. I don't plan on changing anyone's opinion here on chiropractic. I want to help people that want my help. If you all have any more questions feel free to pm me. I'll give you a straight answer.

Hey Guys and Gals, thanks for all the help. It was an exhausting weekend but fun. I stayed at Kimberling city campground on Wednesday and Thursday. I was too lazy to pitch a tent so I slept in the bed of my truck. Thursday was rough fishing. The wind was horrible in my little 15ft Astroglass. I managed somehow to make it to Goar Creek (I believe that's what it's called) to get out of the wind. Found some shad pop'n in the cove and caught one keeper and 2 shorts. But that was it. I saw some fish on the beds and some cruisers. The large mouth were shallow or hanging close to the shallows. Friday morning was awesome for me. Didn't catch a lot of fish, but good quality. Here are the pics, again I was down in Goar creek. I saw of lot of guys running back to the ends of the creeks. Stayed at Big Cedar Friday night and Saturday night with the Bass Pro guys. We fished the bass pro employee tournament. It was lots of fun, but not a true tournament. People could fish from the bank and use live bait if they wanted. Jim and I prefished Saturday. We ran up to Indian and picked up some shorts. Lots of bedding bass and cruisers in the coves off the creeks. He ran down to Arkansas. The water is really dirty but we managed two keepers. Overall, tough day for fishing. Sunday was better. Jim and I were in different boats for the tourny. My partner Brian picked up a nice bass in Brush creek in a cove but the line snapped on him. When it came out of the water, lets just say it was a nice one. He was so sick after that. Then I picked up on comming out of the cove on a accent scooter jig with a baby creature as the trailer. It weighed in at 4.2lbs. Jim caught one on a spinnerbait that was 4.9bls. He won 4th place big bass. Big bass for the day was 7.9lbs. She was a hog. I heard him and his friends talking that his purple spinnerbait was awesome today especially in the shallows. Overall, if you want the largemouth bass, I think you need to be in the coves off the creeks. Jig in the morning, spinnerbait during the day with this wind. The fish are shallow for sure so fishing deep points for large mouth was unproductive for me. Mostly males on the beds so the females are just off a little deeper close by cruising back and forth. I don't know what this front comming in is going to do to them though. Lots of rain predicted for sure. The rock was a good experience but a tough lake for someone that's never been on it. It's not my favorite but it will def grow on me. Beautiful lake and beautiful fish. Oh, and don't worry, they are all back in the lake for you all to catch! =)

Thanks for the reply guys, today was better. Caught two nice mamas on jig. Another on a creature. 4 bluegill on the jig too . All in all, it was slow. Will post pics, taking out of big cedar and will either be up Indian or brush. Will post pics later.

I'm doing this on my phone so I'll post pics later. Long story short, 3 fish. So I need some advice. Besides getting nlown off the lake, I carolined a ring fry, used creature baits, shakey head, and spinnerbaits. What depth do I need to fish 12-10? I only saw one on a bed, a bunch were trolling though. Any thoughts, suggestions? Tomoorow is going to be even more wind. Blah. My little 15ft astroglass isn't liking it too well.

White River Border Lakes Permit (Missouri and Arkansas Residents Only) Allows Missouri and Arkansas residents to pursue, take, possess (except trout) and transport fish, frogs, mussels, clams, turtles, crayfish, and live bait from the other state’s portion of the impounded waters of Bull Shoals, Norfork and Table Rock lakes without purchasing a Nonresident Fishing Permit. Must also have a fishing permit or qualify for an exemption issued by the state of residence. $10 If you don't have this someone will need to have an out of state permit. But this is cheaper and will work.

I think we all need to take a deep breath and step back for a moment. We all come from different walks of life, as Phil's dad said they could always eat fish. My papa was a hard working man. I'm from north eastern Ky and he worked in the coke plants so they can make steel. Anything he bought, it was saved. He hunted and fished and I'm sure it was for partial enjoyment but it was for the table. He had enough in the freezer that would last him all year. He is since gone, and on special occasions my mama will actually get some fish that he caught out of the freezer to cook. (Granted her supply is dwindling) My point is this. We all have different pasts. I had never heard of a catch and release fisherman until I came here to St. Louis. So for some, we need to give a little space, and they might warm up to catch and release so that someone might be able to smile pulling in a hawg. I think this thread is and has been out of control. Fishing is a sport and we need to show each other sportsmanship. I think a lot of fishermen have forgotten what it's all about. PS< I will be on the rock next week for the bass pro buddy bass tournament. Anyone has any pointers let me know. I have never been on the lake. I think us BPS guys from St. Louis are going to get smoked b/c I heard 3 guys that work in springfield guide on the rock. I'll make sure and take pics, if my boss gets tired he will bluegill fish or lay on the back of the boat.....=)....it's pretty funny.
