  1. Gavin, what river is your pic of? That is gorgeous
  2. NICE FISH
  3. reel magic is good, I use it a lot. There is some other stuff from kevin van darn that I heard is better but I'm not willing to spend the money on it. No matter what mono you use, you will have memory. Braid has its advantages and disadvantages. It does not stetch but its strong, you will straighten hooks if you snag. Back lashes are also not as easy to get out with braid. Bass pro fluro carbon was rated top for abrasion resistance in field and stream but you can't fish top water with fluro carbon.
  4. sure did, he swallowed my jig and I hurt him pretty bad getting it out. Sometimes I will c/r, but I enjoy fish fries! A catch and release fisherman, isn't that a fallacy? have no fear, the other smallie lived to see another day
  5. Hey Guys and Gals, Just curious if anyone has or has used the chronoarch mg. I've been looking at it very hard. I want a light weight set up to throw 1/8 oz jigs. I've been throwing them on my 6'6" medium st. croix legend with a pfluger supreme but I think it would feel better to have a lighter set up. The mg weighs 5.9 oz only 2/10 of an oz more than the steez. Abu has the Revo Premier that feels nice, but it hasn't been out that long. Then there is the shimano Core that is light, but I don't like it a bit. I'm going to put this reel on a 6'8" ML croix legend rod. Opinions? Thanks for the info!
  6. very nice fish, glad you got the pick working!
  7. Get yourself a photobucket acct. www.photobucket.com. You can upload your pictures there and then copy the forum picture code and paste it in the text box here. Then your pic will show.
  8. the pic is of the truck, but you get the idea. My sweet spot is behind the truck, don't study it too hard b/c it's secret =) one of the nice smallies I caught Bass I caught with a tumor, it was interesting Small bass at Cave Run in KY Muskie Fish'n at the Cave, it was a rainy day Still havn't been out this year, as soon as this trimester of grad school ends I'll be out! Heard lots of good stories already from customers at bass pro. One guy called me, (I think from cabelas, he wouldn't tell me what sporting good store he worked at) asked me if I had heard of the MO state record bass caught at bismark lake just last week. He said it was 14lbs, of course he is a fisherman though.....so could be a big tale. +) Most everyone is hitting up the swim baits. Quantum PT energy reels still have the 50 dollar rebate and shimano has a 50 rebate on the curado, so some good buys out there. Shimano came out with a new rod the Cumara. All I can saw is wow. Price is a little hefty though. Anways, hope everyone is having good fishing!
  9. I wade it, I have access off of the property. The part I wade is right in the middle of Scotts ford
  10. With a two piece rod you will lose sensitivity and you will have a weak point in the rod. I would go with a one piece. If you are fishing from a boat, you will not need a long rod. The longer the road, the further you can cast. However, it's not that big of a difference in casting length. I have a 7ft rod, but it's for muskie fishing (when you figure 8 at the boat with your bait). The rest of my rods are 6 and 6'6". Go for the one piece unless you have a car and cat fit the pole in it. '
  11. the part I fish in cuba close to steelville you can't get a jet boat though....very shallow light rapids on both ends
  12. this earlY? I havn't been out to look yet but I wouldn't figure them being out for another little bit
  13. I can't speak for all aquariums, but the BPS in St. Charles, I don't think they get fed enough. Fish feedings are only on Sat and Sunday at 2. I will say that they have started dropping pelets in on Wednesday. However on Sat and Sun, they don't put many minnows in the tank. Anytime we lose a fish, it has to be frozen and sent off for an autotopsy.
  14. I haven't seen it, but my lady's mom and dad went out to the farm today and they said the meremac (Cuba area) is back down but muddy. I may try to go out Saturday morning and fish it a bit.
  15. Hey Guys and Gals, Just joined up. I have cabin fever and need to get out but can't so I joined the forum to chat about what I love most. =) I'm currently a grad student in STL and I've been working a dream job at Bass Pro Shops for a year and a half now in the fishing dept. I'm from Kentucky and before I came to MO I did a lot of Muskie fishing at Cave Run Lake, Big Sandy, and the Green River. Since moving to MO, I've discovered Bass fever. A young lady that I have been dating for also a year and a half, has a farm that sits right next to the Meremac River. I started wadeing and have caught many smallies and a few nice lg mouth and 2 big smallies. I'll post some pics if I can. I'm usually use crankbaits but had no luck when fishing the river. So I moved to a strike king bitsy bite jib 1/8oz with a craw trailer (cajun crawl color) and that does the job. Interesting to see some other fishing techniques working. Bass Masters showed a new rig I'd like to try this summer. It was a basic catfish rig on a 3 way swivel and a casting weight. The casting weight drops and your plastic is left hanging in the current. Sorry, I got carried away there. Anyway, I know a lot about fishing but I have so much more to learn. If you have any questions or have something to share, please do! Thanks for your time. DoctaJ
