  1. They can be caught below Truman dam starting about right now, can't say it's the best but some are caught there. Take plenty of jigs.
  2. + 1 on what rangerz21 said I was down that way yesterday and both ramps still froze in but it is melting quick. I would guess that they will be open by this weekend. The Corps was running some water from the generators not a lot but enough maybe. There are lots of open water on the lake with big patches of ice here and there most of the coves and the upper end of the still froze but the ice looked very thin. We made a run around the far west end of the lake and the Osage. Grand, and most of the feeder are running water with a fair amount of ice flowing down them. Won't be long! Things should start happening real quick! Good Luck!
  3. I'm not sure what you mean by Warsaw? Are you asking about the lower end of Truman lake or the upper end of the Ozarks? If you are asking about the lower end of Truman lake then I would vote for Bucksaw in April with the lower end of Truman getting better in May. If asking about the upper end of the Ozarks {Truman tail water) then it can be really good anytime the Corps is running water from early spring into early summer.
  4. Just wondering if the ramps are open at Bledsoe Ferry or Drake Harbor? Weather guesser is saying that it will warm up over the next couple days, thinking fishing?
  5. At least I got a good laugh out of it. Better than setting here with 10" snow on the ground and waiting for another 4 to 6, dang weather guesser.
  6. Wow! A crappie fishing report! Thanks very much!
  7. Dumb question but do shad "do it" in the fall looks like they are spawning. I see them up along the banks sometimes circling and sometimes all bunched up right on the banks in little pockets doesn't look like feeding activities more like spawning action?
  8. Not yet been wanting to go just having a hard time pulling myself away from the lake fishing. Pulled in another really nice limit yesterday fishing the creeks up in the 10' to 6' of water big ole crappie. Had my limit by 10:30 saw two other boats. The fishing should be getting great on the rivers and creeks the water temps are getting right. Look for shad.
  9. Myself and fishing partner picked up a couple of limits of nice crappie yesterday. About any creek arm 3/4 of the way back in about 6 to 10 ft. deep. Black and chartreuse jigs, seem to be somewhat scattered only had one tree that we caught two crappie on, caught a few dragging a jig behind the boat. Didn't find any real shallow and shad everywhere. Water temp. was about 66 to 68 degrees. If this weather holds for a while some of the best fishing of the year is about to happen. Good luck
  10. Don't know how fast you run but thats about 16 miles by water, Long Shoal is G6 Bucksaw is G22. If I was going from Long Shoal up to Bucksaw I would start about G14 there is a nice long deep creek that comes in from the North directly accross and a little bit west of G14 if the wind has been from the south that can be loaded with shad and a lot of fish in the area. Go all the way to the back the best area. From there just keep working your way west sometimes the fishing is better on up past Bucksaw. The water gets more shallow up that way and has more color. If you are not familiar with the area there is plenty of trees under the water just off the main channel and on all the flats and creeks. Get a good lake map and if you can follow the channel you won't have any problems and should be able to run to 13 highway if you want. Any time you pull off the main channel just slow down be carefull. Good Luck.
  11. I don't bass fish much mostly crappie, white bass and hybrids but would guess that the bass fishing would be getting good maybe better than that even. Look for shad, no shad keep looking. I would think that the major creeks, secondary points, flats would hold em. I have noticed that in the last couple of years that I have caught some really nice bass while dipping trees for crappie mostly within 5 miles of Bucksaw. Gets pretty exciting with a 5 or 6 lb. bass hooked up on a 10' crappie pole with a short line.
  12. The crappie seem to be somewhat scattered yet, they haven't moved to the creeks as of last Wednesday think the water needs to cool down some more. If the shad are there they can't be far away. There is a nice little run of white bass in the Little Pomme in the spring too just in case that might interest you.
  13. Glad to see that someone is still fishing Truman thought maybe this site was dead. As for the Little Pomme the water might be just a little warm yet but as it cools off and the shad start moving up the creeks the fishing should be great. I don't fish over that much anymore, spend most of my time on the Grand arm a lot closer for me but use to fish the little Pomme a lot and always did good in the spring and fall. Good luck.
  14. Go to the Stren web site and look up knots, there they have a knot for attaching braid to mono or florocarbon forget the name of it but works well for me.
  15. I have been curious myself as haven't had a chance to go for a while should get down next week for a couple days will let everyone know what I find out.
  16. If you don't mind I would like to hear more about the night time white bass fishing do you mostly troll?
  17. Just saw this hope you found a answer before now but great area to fish plenty of water.
  18. I haven't been over there since last fall but it is an excellent area. With the lake 16' high you could run quite a ways up the Weaubleau if you wanted to, should be clearing up the creek some I would think.
  19. Fishing partner and myself started at Bucksaw and fished on East looking for crappie. Real muddy and lots of floaters finially found some fish by G 14 water was a little cleaner and caught two limits. The fish were really scattered and took us a while but size was pretty good. It was a great day weather wise but did notice that the water was starting to get more dingy as the day went on. The lake is still on the rise and if anyone goes watch for the floaters, there are some large trees headed down the lake. Good luck and be carefull.

    Truman 4-21

I fished around the Bucksaw area Monday and it's very muddy, caught 10 crappie very nice but really scatered. Tebo and Pomme arms are probably the clearest right now.

Wow! Good report I use to do that years ago but too long a day anymore. Hope you had someone with you, its pretty easy to fall asleep on that return trip for me anyway.
