  1. Caught two limits yesterday by noon, still somewhat scatered not really on the bank but close. Just average size mostly males but a few of the females appeared to be ready to spawn. Don't know what they are waiting on saw some 70* water should happen start big time any day now.
  2. Drum
  3. My partner and self went again today got another late start but managed to catch 25 nice ones. They are starting to move up but were not acutally on the banks yet, close and I'm sure that in some parts of the lake they are already there. Most of the fish we caught were males with a couple of the largest fish being females. The bite just died about noon we fished a couple more hours without much luck loaded up and drove home. 1/16 oz. roadrunners with a black and chartuese tube seemed to be the best bait today, with the major cold front due in Friday and Saturday it will probably slow the fishing down but they are there just may have to work a little harder to catch some. Good Luck!
  4. Yep there is a run from both Truman and the Pomme de Terre the one on the upper Pomme should be going on right now.
  5. Made it down Friday the cold front really slowed things down, got a late start and didn't stay too long partner and myself caught 10 seemed to be really scattered just one hear and there but nice size. Started out about 60* water and by the middle of the afternoon found some 65* back in a creek out of the wind. Didn't catch any close to the banks, by next week things should really start happening.
  6. Don't forget purple!

    Sac Fishing

Thanks for the report, sounds like some fish were moving up. Was getting all fired up but looks like mother nature put the hammer on the fishing again. I live south of KC and we got about 6" farther south got more, I won't even venture a guess on how long it may take to straighten this mess up. Best bet maybe back to below the dam?

    Sac Fishing

Poor Poor Poor, went with a friend got a late start started fishing about noon pulled off the water about 5:00 to beat the rain never had a bite. Fished from Brush Creek to Round House cave, water temps at the ramp were 47.5* at the cave they were 43.5*. Water color was excellent current picked up in the evening, give it a week and try again.
  9. Wow thanks that pretty neat now the next question I'm sure you knew it was coming where do you get'm?
  10. Always looking for something new what is a scrounger jig? Got a picture of one?
  11. All good advice above the whole lake dosen't turn on at the same time plus sometimes one arm or another will muddy up do to heavy rains so be prepared to move to where the fishing is the best. Any kind of crappie bait will catch fish I've seen people throwing everything everything in the book at them and catching fish, makes you wonder sometimes. If it gets real muddy and probably will, does every spring, a 1/16 oz. Roadrunner with a black@chartueuse plastic tube works great along with black@pink couple of my favorites anything with chartueuse on it will catch fish along with a bright orange head. I use a lot of 2" and 3" baits also. Don't mean to scare you but Truman is full of stumps just under the water millions of them, get a good lake map "HOT SPOTS" is as good as any and learn where the channel is. A depth finder helps and anytime you turn off the channel to go into a good looking area just slow down and be carefull and you'll be fine. One thing about Truman you don't have to run a long way to find fish, there's ramps all over the lake and you can put in close to where ever you want to fish. Good luck and when you get close to going post again and I'm sure that someone will be happy to help you. Something else I just thought about but I have seen a lot of people turkey hunt out of the boat. There's lots of public land all around Truman, they'll be in their camo gear fishing and hear a gooble beach the boat and hunt turkey for a while then come back and fish some more. You can't shoot out of the boat but you can beach it and get out and hunt the public land.
  12. Thanks for the report guess it will warm up one of these days.
  13. Thanks for the report glad to see that someone was brave enough to give it a try. I keep saying a couple of weeks but maybe one of these days it'll start warming up.
  14. 1/4 oz white Vibric Rooster tail, if you can't catch'm on that they ain't bite'n. And peel off that stupid mylar stickey thing on the blade makes them spin easier.
  15. Just looked at a long forecast and predicted the same and this weather pattern that we are in now to hold at least through the middle of March. But what do the weather guessers really know?
  16. Sounds good probably seen you just didn't know you. Talked to a friend late yesterday that had been to Warsaw and drove over the dam and said that the slack water side had thrawed out looked like the Bledsoe ramp was useable with a couple of rigs in the parking lot. But after today it's suppose to get cold again so I'll wait till the next warming spell and give it a shot. If I can wait that long it's been a loooong winter already and it's only about half over? When I go I give you a shout as to what I'm driving and when I'll be there.
  17. I wish I knew how to catch the fire out of'em, myself. Mostly catch one now and then although I know that some people do. The best that I have done is usually on dark cloudy days, rain is good (warm rain) and evening. Use enough jig to get to the bottom and drag it along. Take plenty of cheap jigs and cheaper plastic you're going to loose a bunch, my experance anyway. Some people really like the Gulp stuff but I don't seem to do as well with it as small swim baits and twister tails. I would bet that there is plenty walleyes there now just need some warmer water to get them started up.
  18. Welcome back I live just up the road in Pleasant Hill.
  19. Need to get rid of that dang ice and get the water to warm up a bit and things will start to happen. I bet there is all kinds of fish there just waiting for a fish hook with a tasty morsel on it.
  20. Yep still alive and kick'n haven't been over that way for several weeks. Truman is froze over the entire lake all ramps were iced in as of yesterday. You could put in at the ramp at Warsaw and motor up to the slack water with most of that is froze probably be your best bet till things thaw out. I would guess that the Sac is open but there is a lot of water coming down the river and has been all winter. The fish are in the river somewhere but probably have lock jaw for a while, if you did find them it would be hard to get a bite. I'm going to wait a couple weeks and hope to get a nice warming spell with some sunshine and give it a go. We've had a rough winter and hope maybe things will turn around a bit and get a decent break on the weather for a change. I don't know if you have ever fished below Truman dam but you can catch some pretty good whites, hybrids, crappie, and there is some walleye there too.
  21. As soon as the ice goes I'll start looking around I would really like to catch some on the fly rod too. Not a great fly fisherman but do have a 8 wt. and am wanting to give it a serious try. I do have a lot of stuff that will work on spinning and casting gear. Looking at what the weather guessers are saying might find some open water by this next weekend I hope.
  22. What kind of spoons, I have a few smaller ones Little Cleos, gold and silver, Swedish Pimple, maybe a few other small spoons.
  23. I have never cut a hole in the ice and fished through it and always said that I never would. But begining to rethink that deal.
  24. Wow Sam those are some great looking jigs, may have to try making some of those up. On roadrunners one of my alltime favorites that I tie up myself is a plain lead head meaning no paint with a grey or silver chenille body with a grey or silver maribou tail with a bit electric flashabou just a few strands, it's a killer in just about everywhere except maybe in heavy stained water.
  25. If they can they will!
