  1. That's an impressive haul. I've been bass fishing table rock for 25 years but with limited trips each year I never got into fishing for Crappie. We are located between the 13 bridge and Joe Bald Park. Never really see Crappie around our dock and I wonder if one part of the lake has a better population or if we need to make some structure on the bottom for them to stack in? Would be nice to get the boys on some Crappie while we swim in the summer.
  2. Great topic. Here's the list of what's been mentioned for scents: Berkley hand wash (to remove your stink) Megastrike! The JJ's Magic (works into the plastic) KVD craw stick Fish Formula gulp in craw PowerBait Bass formula whiZkers, essence of crawdad Smelly Jelly Any favorites out there?
  3. Just checked out the temp map. That's awesome, thanks for posting.
  4. So the whopper is starting to produce. Love catching fish on the red fin so can't wait to try out my new ploppers.
  5. Thanks for the info. Can't wait to get down there in a few weeks and get a solid weekend in of fishing. Been checking the forum everyday and will hopefully be posting about all the fine bass we catch. Here is a link I found on the topic http://bassfishingmidwest.com/table-rock-bass-spawning-stages/
  6. Even if the dock owner would prefer you not pull in, they probably won't venture out of cover to come down and crab about it. It's a shame that being neighborly and helpful to people is becoming a thing of the past. I understand to a degree why some owners get upset, but generally I think it's pretty easy to tell when folks are just taking cover and when someone is up to no good.
  7. Thanks for the info. I wonder if the hula grub would help me entice the larger bite???
  8. I've read a lot about choosing spots based on chunk rock vs gravel bottoms and transition areas. How about cedars vs hardwoods. Does one offer an advantage or hold more large mouth during the spawn? In the past we've done very well in the spring catching numbers of fish, but most are kentuckys or small mouth, and few large mouth. I know that throwing a jig over a centipede may help increase the size of our bags, but how about location?
  9. I've read a lot that jigs will catch consistently bigger fish than the small plastic worms. I have tried to throw different jigs with varying retrieves with little success. I have to say I have not stuck with them very long and usually will only throw intermittently at a particular structure or boat dock. I need to work with them more to master, but it's hard to handcuff myself for an afternoon when I get so few to fish. I inevitably will pick up the split shot or Carolina rig before long. Any thoughts on trailers, colors, or retrieves would be appreciated.
  10. I hear a lot of crank bait bites, stick baits, A rigs.... What about my beloved split shot centipede and fish doctor? Anyone throwing em?
  11. We have success with the Red Fin and buzz baits. Does the Whopper offer something more than the two of these? Those Whoppers have a hefty price tag so curious what the advantage is.
  12. Haven't heard much about the Whopper Plopper this spring. Last year that lure was so hot I couldn't find any before my April trip. Was this a case of a lure that caught more fisherman than fish, or is this a viable option for spring bass on Table Rock? Are we just waiting for conditions to change before the Whopper heats up?
  13. My buddy caught a 9 plus in April of 2014. He and my old man had been preparing for tournament later in the month. They fished hard all week and the culmination was that 9+ and a 6+ all in the same day. The lucky fisherman died two nights later. I've always said that was a great last week!
  14. Thanks for all the comments. I've been fishing Table Rock for 30 years with my old man. We fish out of Kimberling and spend 95% of our lake time between Cow Creek on one end and Big Bay on the other and everything in between. Love to throw soft plastics and will default to the Zoom centipede but love to try new options that I pick up off the forum. Unfortunately, I only get a couple serious fishing trips in a year but I really look forward to April fishing on the big lake. This time of year I love to read all the reports and posts from all the regulars and I appreciate the time taken to make these posts. You all share great information and you help wet the appetite of all of us who are not fortunate enough to be on the lake more.
  15. I guess then a follow up question would be how does the spawn progress across the lake. Does the water warm up faster on the far end and work down toward the dam area?
  16. I remember a post from last year that briefly discussed the spawning sequence at Table Rock. Can anyone shed some light on the hierarchy of bass as they move up to spawn? In other words, do Kentuckys move up before, after, or at the same time as Large Mouth? Where do Smallies fit in? Any info would be appreciated.
