  1. Had the almost same thing happen to me last Fall. Check to see if there's brake dust on the wheels - sure sign that your brakes are dragging. Mine was caused by the surge brakes not releasing. Let them cool down, got the tongue lubed so it worked back and forth and no more problems. The dead give away was the brake dust on the wheels and the smell.
  2. Got mine in the mail today - thanks, Frank, they look terrific !! Willy
  3. I take the rubber bands that the morning paper has around it, tie an overhand knot in it and loop it around the spool. Cheap, easy, and I have plenty of spares.
  4. Good points, TRRANGER. Wish I could go with a full size truck, but it won't fit in my garage. Can't see spending a bunch of $ and letting a truck sit out side. A bit smaller SUV might be my best compromise.
  5. Wow, what timing. I have an 04 Triton 186 with the same motor, but my trailer has surge brakes, not disc. I pull with a Tahoe with no problem. I'm looking at a new or slightly used Honda Pilot to replace my Tahoe. Everything I've read says the Pilot should pull and STOP with no problem. and, much better gas mileage.
  6. Thanks, Guys. our club has a tournament there this weekend. Should be interesting with the lake being high, more rain forecast and the Corps pulling water during the pre-spawn.
  7. Does anyone have a good link to the 3 day forecast for lake levels at Truman ?
  8. Our club tournament turned out pretty good. Took 14 lbs on Saturday and about 12.5 lbs on Sunday to win. Guys caught fish in buck brush, sometimes just deep enough to cover the fishes back, and up to about 6 ft deep, plus rigging on the points. I caught a hog in practise (of course) that would have gone about 6.5 - on a Senko type bait on a big stump. All in all a good weekend.
  9. Does anyone have any current info on bass fishing at Truman ?? Our club has a tx this weekend. I've heard that last weekend the fish were still shallow, in the bushes and soft plastics worked. Anything more current ??
  10. Nice job !!
  11. Thanks for the additional information, Bill. FYI, a buddy fished the area yesterday, and up toward the bridge at Shell Knob with only 2 fish, 1 keeper about 3 lbs. Threw everything in the tackle box but could only get bit swimming a single tail grub. Hope it gets better.
  12. Thanks for the quick info - I'll be there Thursday morning.
  13. The Leavenworth Bass Club has a tournament this coming weekend at the "Rock" and I'd like to launch out of Baxter. Anyone have any info that the ramp is open ?? When we were there in January (brrrrr), the ramp at Baxter was blocked. Glad we were NOT there this past wwekend with the FLW herd. I see the MO TBF Bass Fed will be launching out of Ahoy's with 150 boats. Thanks.
  14. Someone seems to always find the fishies - I pick 41.5 lbs for 2 days
  15. Our club has a tournament scheduled for the state park this coming weekend, and I'm hearing that the Corps may be closing the ramps on the main lake due to the extreme high water level. Anyone else have any info about this, or if you were on the lake this weekend, would appreciate a report.
