River was in great shape the only thing we had to do is when we went left on the first island below Greer we had to pull the boat in two spots. The other guy in our group went right and had no problem, I just wanted to get to that big hole (stair step hole I believe it might be called) and fish it. We did see a good amount of people on Saturday and a few campers at Turner and Whitten. There is so much wood in the forest you don't have to go far and you can fill your truck in minutes for a few nights. Good luck this weekend Mark I would go along but my family would kill me.

Just got back from a Thursday to Sunday trip and had a wonderful time on the eleven point camping and fishing. The fishing was fair not a ton of fish but no one got skunked either. No one boasted their limit but we caught enough to make us happy. We caught them on all different kinds of lures nothing in particular just fun to try different stuff from your tackle box. We fished around turner on Thursday and Greer to turner on Friday and turner to whitten on Saturday. No one caught any in the blue ribbon area I don't know why we even bother doing that stretch of the river because we do horrible there I guess we just like the float. We did have a little mishap at turner I went to step out of the boat and there was no bottom so the boat went with me and we dumped. There was a place to step out but then it dropped off and that is where I stepped into, about 5 feet deep. We were able to find all our poles and just about all our stuff so it really was no big deal just made for a good laugh. We had a great time with the rope swing too somewhere above whitten, man that was fun I felt like a teenager. I did hook what I can only assume was a dandy I haven't ever felt a fish fight like that before down there I didn't have much line left on my pole and it didn't take the fish long to run it all out. Oh well if it were easy to catch the big ones then there wouldn't be any left. There is always next time but thank you for this time eleven point.

Glad to know the fish are waiting till next week to bite, when we show up.

We had a group of seven of us down for a few days over the weekend and we had a great time on the river with much luck. For some reason brown rooster tails were the lure to use. We camped at Turner and we fished around camp on Thur and floated from Greer to camp on Fri. The float from Greer did not produce but a few fish none over 18 inches. Sat. we floated down to Whitten and had a great time catching all kinds of fish in all the usual spots. Brian had my truck at Whitten for us, we had a tight fit with seven guys and all our gear in one truck but we did it, thanks again Brian. No bad mishaps on the river for anyone in our group, not even a complaint from the two conservation agents that checked us on the river, we were all good boys. Just a great time had by all, especially ol "Blue Boots" he even has a medal to prove it. It sucks to be back at work wearing a suit sitting at my desk.

We just ran through MD and had no problem. In fact we went back up it with a 4 horse motor on the back of a scanoe and ran it again and we never hit a thing.

Thanks for the report Mark. Do you think we would be okay to put in at Cane Bluff on Fri. and float to Turner without much problems? You could of left the lunker for us to catch.

Mark, Good luck, have fun, be careful and save some fish for us. We are planning our annual trip next week. I can't wait, I need to get away for a while. (At least you are still off school on Thursday!)

We had a group on the river this past Friday and Saturday and the river was high and quick but we found it easy to navigate, nothing to run into, you just float over everything. Fishing was tough in blue ribbon area no bites, we did manage to catch a few fish from Turner to Whitten and they were all in the 13 to 17 inch range. We fished pretty hard and it sucked, but we enjoyed the river the weather was great just being down there away from my every day life was good enough for me. Brian thanks again for the truck shuttles!

Good fishing for us as well on Wed and Thur and great time spent on the river. Even better time off the river too. I love the river, the area, the people, the entire time down on the river. I wish we could make it down more often. Brian thanks again for the transfers.

I respect that very much Brian. New update on the guys. Thur was much worse, they are packing up and heading home. They were only supposed to come home today. I think they are tired of the rain and lack of fish

Here is small report from guys down there which should include me, but after hearing how bad they are doing and watching the weather I don't feel to bad now. There are a total of 5 guys in the group and on Wed. they floated Turner to Whitten and one guy caught 4 trout, one caught 2, one caught one and the 2 others caught none. I did not have a chace to talk with them about Thur but I advised them to float to Riverton. I forgot to ask what they caught them on but knowing the guys it would have been corn or power bait. Brian I have a question. When they do stock will you make note of that on the forum here or do you keep that hush here?

Brian, Thanks for the news, that boosts our spirits. We will be there on Monday for sure. I would love to camp at Turner and I think we will try to. If you hear of Turner getting fixed up let me know. I am not worried about tearing up the canoe trailer as much as the truck. We usually come down self reliant but we may only bring one truck this year if we need a transfer we will call you.

Just wondering how the river looks around Whitten to Riverton and is Whitten camp is accessable by road. Read some earlier threads saying Turner So. is bad I don't know if that is still true. Does anyone know if trout are hitting at all? Is the river still murkey? Planning on being on the river early next week for a few days just tring to get a feel of the river from a good source.
