  1. I love it when discourse gets personal. Are you trying to insult my intelligence by calling me a dunce? You have made your point oh ancient one. Do you and Cheif believe that while they are screwing 75,000 landowners with new tag fees resulting in 1.5 to 2 million dollars they would publish any reports that indicate deer population at near crisis? Ask my co-worker who has hit 3 deer over the last year and his son who totaled a vehicle over deer what they think. The MDC manages all species at near perfect levels right?
  2. I don't know where you fellas live but my point is of the square miles that that you two are so proud to call habitat is uninhabitable to deer. Like, um, the whole city of Springfield, Kansas City...St. Louis you get my point. So come back for a math lesson whenever you can provide a real number of habitable acres in Missouri. Documentation will get extra credit .
  3. Chief: Do deer congragate, conspire and agree to spread out equally all over the state? I haven't heard about this. I bet Jo Buck really enjoys the plot of land he agreed to in downtown Kansas City where the Convention Center is. And all the other deer who get a lovely Walmart or a Parking lot. Truth is there are too many deer and in some areas of extreme concentration they are even damaging crops, cars and trucks over and over causing property damage and injuring people. Seasons have been extened by your beloved MDC to further control populations and they are currently considering added measures to add further control. "Is" is Is and "Crisis" is Crisis.
  4. I believe use of water is covered under Riparian Rights or something. But you bring up a good point. Since deer populations are at crisis all over the state give each Missourian a free tag since afterall it is all our land that the MDC owns. Great point.
  5. Harvard School of Business...Where else? I notice you don't attempt to repudiate my math on the new revenues they are after. I don't believe this post was about anyone's family so leave dear old mom out. I have a right to be heard just like you tadman and I believe this is wrong in two ways. 1) Should landowners under 80 acres have to pay to hunt on their own land? I think this is B.S. After all it is THEIR darn LAND anyway. 2) With deer populations at almost crisis this is a horrible time to implement this change. Also. They get an awful lot of our money and how much enforcement of game and fishing laws do you see Tadman? I hardly ever see agents. So yes I have negative things to say about them. To each their own.
  6. Guys in trees with binoculars and two way radios??? Ethical??? I guess that's a fine line. I bet a guy who gets a lunkers that way (as opposed to someone who didn't) really feels all full of himself and considers himself a real sportsman. Also I would keep track with a log of lunkers you get. Warm and fuzzy..Yes sir that will do it. Now up to the outhouse to prove the manhood .
  7. What every happened to just the "chance" of catching a nice fish. Everyone wants to control it to the point where they have a "better chance" of catching a record. Personally, makes me want to puke. How about just head up to the outhouse whip out your willy and see who's is bigger . Not every thing in life has to be a pissing contest .
  8. Has anyone thrown trout food into the feeding tanks at the hatcheries? I have seen trout race twenty to thirty feed for a single piece of food that lands on the surface of the water. Their eye sight is incredible. I wonder how close your fly needs to be to a big fish for them to see it? I think more than anything they are defended their space in the case of browns. Just my thoughts. BTW in regards to sight fishing is it illegal to have spotters with binoculars and two way radios? I think it should in Missouri. Again my 2 cents.
  9. You just pop them on a 90 degree retrieve throw moving water? I keep White River Zig jigs in 1/16 oz so I will probably need to buy some 1/32 from Tim. Also does the horn blow during C & R or can you start fishing any time of the day after midnight?
  10. What size if you don't mind the question? Spinning gear of fly rod?
  11. Doubtful. Politics affect everything. Just look at Europe for Fish and Game regs and gun control (which we will continue to discuss I hope). Adios.
  12. With 9' of leader do I need sinking tip floating line or just floating line? Recommended brands anyone? $60 is probably my limit with Christmas around the corner.
  13. With 9' of leader do I need sinking tip floating line or just floating line?
  14. Sinking or Floating fly line and what weight is preferred? Any tips on leader and tippet is also appreciated. I haven't fly fished in some time and need help. I will probably pay Tim a visit while down there.
  15. So Phil the only way to determine % of flow is by lake elevation? Or do charts, annoucements, or corps webpages tell this information? Just curious, cause I will call the recording to get number of units on the water, but many times 4 units can be like 2 units or 2 units can be like 4 units. Guess I have much to learn about a silly little tailwater.
  16. It is a shame this type of service is not recogized by the Alternative Sentencing Programs.
  17. Do I have this straight, all you need: 1) a current fishing license 2) a current trout stamp 3) catch and release no harvest of fish 4) no daily trout tag??? Are the campgrounds busy for this weekend? Also I am just reviving my fly rod out of mothballs. Sinking line preferred? What flies should I stock for this?? Thx
  18. So given the current deer population explosion and need for additional control, it is ok for creating new fees, reducing harvest numbers for the purpose of buying more land. More land, more regulations, resulting in less enforcement. You guys have helped me see the logic. Now if i can apply this slop to the elections today somehow.
  19. What tools do the people have that will work? Calling and letting these bafoons know our displeasure? Gee this works every time doesn't it. or Prying loose their ecomomic engine? How much public land would be enough? Specifics please. I also think it would be great if everyone affected by this change would not harvest the deer they normally would sending populations into a crisis.
  20. I assume you are talking about the wealthiest Conservation Department in the Midwest putting it to us again on the free deer tags for landowners. Isn't it just great that this worthless organization with $160 million dollar budget now needs to charge landowners for deer tags when the state is on the verge of a deer population crisis. Lets just do the math 75,000 screwed Missourians times $17 per tag = $1,275,000 and most probably shoot at least two deer so $2,550,000 so they can buy up more private property for the common good. Sounds like spreading the land around to me. They suck and I hope they read this. The people need to repeal their sales tax the next time it is up for a vote. This is an out of control government agency.
  21. I have just noticed a lull in the reports by guides not any misleading by anyone. I knew when the reports were few and far between (mostly due to Alaska fishing and Table Rock better) that the fishing probably hasn't been that good. Nobody needed to come right out and say it is bad. People do depend on this water for a living but I don't see any of them scamming fishing trips out of people. Most here say they would come down and enjoy the ozarks anyway. Heck, my wife spends more time reading and enjoying being on the water and has a better time at that then I do fishing. There has been a expression of the contributors that unusual circumstances have made difficult unpredicatable conditions this year. I think that is the most anyone should expect of them.
  22. I like the pun
  23. After lousey fishing on Taneycomo this last weekend I am going to drop the boat in the water at Table Rock for the first time next weekend. Currently I have some six and eight pound spinning reels and a variety of rods and don't really know where to start. Also have some in line reels and rods as well. Will probably put in at indian point. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I have basic fish finding equipment nothing fancy and a limited amount of bass fishing structure vocabulary. Thx BRBF
