WARSAW, Mo.-- The Kansas City District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers placed concrete for the first of three overlay monoliths at the Harry S. Truman Stilling Basin on May 6.
The public is advised that overlay placements scheduled for Wednesday, May 11, and Thursday, May 26, will close the East Bledsoe Ferry access road and boat ramp. All other boat ramps are scheduled to remain open including Drake Harbor which is located less than one mile downstream.
The monoliths will form a complete overlay that is 60 feet long and spans the full 180 feet across the stilling basin. The overlay project repairs erosion on the floor of the stilling basin caused by loose rocks and will cost about $2.6 million. While not critical, if left unchecked, the erosion could eventually threaten the dam's safety.
