  1. Old news, but here's a visual of Lake Niangua from 14 June:

    Walleye

Nice fish. Congratulations . . . and welcome.
  3. They do seem to like fish as much as we do. Good action shot.
  4. Longear sunfish (Lepomis megalotis) must be among the prettiest fish in freshwater. Can someone mention where they can be found in catchable numbers in Missouri, especially near the Kansas City area? Not looking to deplete anyone's honey hole but to maybe help a friend there catch a few male longears for her aquarium. Thanks.
  5. Nice looking fly in your avatar. You ought to post up a recipe. (Is it barred rabbit, herl, wire rib, and bead?)

  6. Keystone is nice. So is being able to catch sauger (at least in the winter) and stripers in an often wadeable river, the Arkansas. Pretty neat urban fishery.
  7. Cool. Literally.
  8. Wow — great report — real action on some serious 'eyes.
  9. Welcome. I'm sure someone more local and helpful will be along any minute. In the meantime, I guess you found the Norfolk section of this forum?
  10. Hackle on the hoof
  11. A little something to wash it down:
  12. Thanks for that fine clip.

  14. Btw, I don't know what that water usually looks like, but it sure appears green and clear rather than muddy.
  15. Funny, I'm going blind trying to tie size 20 trout flies, and you're hauling them in on 1/8th of an ounce of sauger lead. If he'll hit that, he ought to take a #6 or 4 Clouser, I would think.
  16. Bigheads, at least, will hit nightcrawlers and even artificial flies. These were taken on a five weight rod from the Smithville Lake spillway. Flies were a #4 white woolly bugger and a size 14 Breaminator. Nice power fights. The meat is indeed white and good. Like Northern pike, though, Y bones are present. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7208039283443637190

    Fried Fish

    Don't spare the pepper, y'all.
  18. We're likely in greater danger driving to and from the water. Around 42,000 Americans die every year in vehicular crashes. Awareness is great; adjusting our risk perception is part of that. Condolences to the folks involved in this case. http://www.commanderbob.com/cbstats.html http://www.doesickworker.org/TriPaddle/safety.htm
  19. Reports on two forums had it tough there last week with even a guide getting skunked. Of course, every day is a new one. Take your lightest rod to try and play with the yellow bass in order to give yourself options.
  20. My house must be the world headquarters already. I'm afraid I'm a better collector than tyer.
  21. Okay, size 22 to 8 dries – size critical. Sounds like quite a range of flies can be effective there. Guess that's good . . . except for narrowing one's tying focus in case they don't all work on a given day.
  22. And that's fishing barbless.
  23. The avatar looks good. It also looks like good tying material.
  24. Pedal steel guitar . . . if that counts in this thread. Twenty strings, but many of you probably make more music with six.
