I knew a Bull Mastif once that looked horribly mean, and barked and snarled.. Best, most gentle "huge" dog Ive ever known.
+1 to Craigslist or shelters. Im sure there are a lot of people out there who turned in their big dog because they couldnt afford to feed it.
Going to finally manage to get out and stretch the fly rod out this weekend. Just wondered if anyone has been hitting the local spots around Kansas City ? Looking at Hartell Conservation area (before the vegetation becomes a problem), Pony Express, James A Reed.. Ive never fished Pony Express, but heard good things.
If anyone can give a report of something in the area that'd be great.
The park store rents them. Im headed there tomorrow and will let you know the price. Or Im sure you could call them. I dont know if they take or if you would need reservations, but might not hurt to check.
I will stay in Republic with family on tuesday night, drive to RR on Wed early AM. I may camp Wed night, might drive back to Republic. Havent decided yet. I sure hope there are some fish left after the long weekend.
I'll be making my first trip of the year to Roaring River next week, besides stopping by Tims to get the hottest flys (since I cant seem to make time to tie my own) what should I come prepared with? Are the drys working well yet? Beetles?
Hope the weather stays nice.
I bought a new 1.5 for my TFO 3wt and loved it. Then one day I was in Cabela's bargain cave and to my surprise was a 2.0 loaded with GPX for $99! How could i pass that up? the line weight wasnt labeled, but if it wasnt a 5wt then i had a new excuse to get a 6 wt. I like them both and havent let me down yet, and everyone I talked to hasnt had a bad thing to say about them.
Well, I successfully caught my first trout on a fly rod ( using abeetle I tied myself, after watching Tim's video of course ) Actually landed two on the beetles, missed a couple more. Missed some strikes on a Elk Hair and griffiths also.. Then I stopped bye and picked up a couple flys I hadnt tied myself from Tims store.. ( I was the one with the Fit you asked about.) Not to bad of a day, hope tomorrow is better
Thats good news I was hoping the weekend storms didnt mess up to much. Hope to catch my first trout on a fly rod this week, ill be down 3 or 4 days tues-friday, so I'm really hoping for good weather/water.
