  1. Hmm, you're out of your element too? Well, then, welcome to the club!
  2. i can only imagine...
  3. No and yes.. That'd be "laugh my flippin arse off" (more or less) and I certainly resemble that, most of the time... (I'm constantly laughing my flippin arse off, that is... At myself mainly, but sometimes at you folks too)
  4. Okay, imma spell it out for the slow ones: No one is questioning the validity of anyone's story, we just want fish porn!! Is that too much to ask?!? (YW, Joe)
  5. Aces, Tim.. Simply aces.. . One point of order though: I think they spell it Bimmer...
  6. Hey, I resemble that remark!! Wait, were you just checkin' me out?!?
  7. Not to be contrary, but where are these "Open for Hunting/fishing" signs? I can't say I've ever seen one.. I see plenty of purple paint though...
  8. Well I wasn't necessarily thinkin' of myself there, but you also don't realize just how cheap I am! (I'm sure one of my "chums" will be along to point that out shortly.. lol) Yeah, he's good at that... You think it's a good thing til you find yourself passing up on biting fish to go on some wild goose chase with him... :hangs_head_shamefully:
  9. The flats at LOZ have been fishing well, but it'd be extremely hit and miss from the bank as 90% of the spots where the fish corral the shad are unreachable from shore.. If only there were a guide service for folks such as yourself... Hmmm :light_bulb:
  10. Its the same as indicator fishing in a river, the drift is just decidedly longer..
  11. I'm aware, Mitch, and I appreciate you pointing that out, but it is what it is, ya know.. The guy is being a (insert expletive here), why should we have to tiptoe through the tulips?
  12. You dammed libertards always start in with that crap.. Next thing ya know we'll be reading some creationist rant 'bout how we're all destined to go to hell for our sinful grammatical errors.. I'm tellin ya, all hell's breakin loose around here...
  13. That is one ugly mug! (the fish is pretty though..)
  14. Shucks, I got me a live one! S'pose I should brush up on my vernacular, on account of the high society I found meself a rubbin' elbows with... Ne'er did reckon fer shure on wut a fishin cricket is, 'cept o'course meself...
  15. Okay, we'll at least the rest of us are aware of your obvious agenda.. lol (that means "laugh out loud", M'Kay?) I didn't lose objectivity at all, my objective was to point out that you have a crappy attitude and there's no place for it on this here feeshin' forum. I reckon I done dat.. And I did say this during the previous administration, but I'll repeat it because I don't remember you being here then. This here is a feeshin forum, fella, if you find yerself a'thinkin about bringing the politicians and their silliness into it, best just keep'er to yerself, we ain't to keen on discussin it 'round here. And iffen you jest insist, best not be a persnickety prick about it, least ways be 'spectin a sound retort from this here peanut gallery iffen you is. Wow, just when I was thinking we weren't gonna have nuttin in common.. No, you don't. You only know that we ain't keen on political discussions or persnickety smart allecks.. (trust me I know, I am one! lol) I could apologize, but instead I'll simply ask: What difference does this make? We're my words lost on you, or we're you still able to understand my hillbilly gibberish? I suspect it's simply one more thing you noticed while looking down your nose. Y'all take care now, ya hear?
  16. Oh, puh-leeeeeaaaze... Your agenda is quite obvious. Might I suggest you go find a political forum upon which to wax philosophic? This here forum is about feeshin...
  17. Take the toons, you'll be fine...
  18. Isn't that what a change of venue is kinda for? Anyway, my guess would more involve the environment at hand, think about it: Catching stoners floating the river: Approaching small groups of stoned (relaxed, Mellow) floaters During a warm sunny day People lounging in their boats and innertubes Big boobies out everywhere Plus not much can be done about the drunks that are RUINING the river, they're LEGAL! (beads, cans, etc... How many times have you ever seen a roach clip or a water bong hanging from a flood stage branch or at the bottom of a hole?) Busting Giggers: Approaching large groups of armed (possibly intoxicated) hillbillies Middle of the night Spitting snow No boobies Nah, I think I figured it out! (still their dam jobs, OB)
  19. Sorry, just some random thoughts pertaining to your quandary.. Another: I have seen cheap trolling motors online.. Be careful to not but one that has no option for replacing the propeller, usually that's the first thing to break if it has been sitting around for a while.. I bought and old junk one from a yard sale once and the company had went out of business or something so when I broke the prop I basically just had to throw it away...
  20. A ford focus should have a 1000 towing capacity and a 100 lb tongue weight capacity.. This is pertinent because a longer boat puts more weight on the tongue unless counterweighted properly.. (keep in mind that your hitch weighs something too) I'd be careful about backing it down steep and/or slippery ramps too. And remember not all ramps are perfect, most of the concrete ramps on the Niangua have a 6 inch to 1 foot lip off the end of the ramp, sometimes my little tracker would really have to tug hard to get the trailer tires to roll over it.. If the ramp is slippery and youve got a street tread tire on the Ol banger it may prove to be a nerve wracking experience.. Frankly it used to scare me to back into a direct current cause the water would grab the boat and drag it and the back end of that light little tracker sideways and downstream... But a 16x36 is friggin HEAVY!! Especially if you've got any gear in it.. (paddles and/or oars, poles and tackle, motor and battery, seats, net, anchor and miscellaneous gear)
  21. Ouch! Touché, sir! lol Nah, I don't deer hunt (no option for catch and release) so all I ever remember is that the boss and his buddies go into full rut around November..
  22. Remember that towing capacities are more about what amount of weight the braking system can safely stop.. My 92 tracker with its iddy bitty 4 banger could pull the John boat okay (albeit a bit doggedly) but it took a long time to get it slowed down, and that almost caused me to wreck the whole she-bang one day when a jack wagon pulled out in front of me.. I was only doing 40 down the hill next to Sand Springs but I just couldn't get it shut down! Ended up taking the wrong lane blind and got very lucky.. I DID warp my rotors and ruin my brakes.. Wonder how a TDI's braking system would compare? lol (really, GotMuddy, you should include some kind of disclaimer with your advice, something like " I won't cover your expenses if my advice costs you a set of rotors or the rear bumper of a 92 Buick that was tooling along slower than you anticipated"... Seriously.
  23. Why would I do that when I can just ask these folks, Slim?
  24. So when's deer season end?
  25. I've got a 16x36 river John and while I've been successful in tooling around the coves at LOZ, I'll admit that I don't do it anymore just because it's unnerving to be in 20+ feet of water in something so small... Prolly just me though. lol
