Hated the eleven point so much I had to go back... LOL My wife wanted to float the warmer part of the river, didn't know it was a creek! Beautiful Scenery, lots of bluffs and caves that are viewable from the river.. Lots of long holes, spots of deeper water that seem to always hold fish (though smaller fish, I will admit) and then the grand finale was the spot where Greer flows into the Eleven Point (it's actually more like the eleven point is flowing into greer, really) and the trout were just stacked up... didn't take any pics of the trout, actually only hooked three or four and didn't get any of them into the canoe, but here's a pic of the Biggest smallie I caught, and also a Pic of me breaking the rules at the spring... I have to say again the EPCR has been the go to guys for all things eleven point, make sure and give em a shout if you plan to go.. Brian I am dying to get in the front of your drift boat! Enjoy, and (as I have seen on here before) tight lines all...

Thanks for all the replies guys.. Ended up selling this to a friend from in town..

thank you so much again for all of your assistance and real time advice. I will look forward to possibly seeing you on the river.. I will be in a camo 16 ft john with a beautiful Indian-looking lady lounging in the front (or running the trolling motor)

I am definitely going to take you up on it being cleared by wednesday... The wife has decided that we NEED to get away... So we will be down tomorrow around 10 am, if you think you can still shuttle us we would really appreciate it... I will call you in a few hours and set it up...

I haven't been down to Bennett yet to check, but the USGS says it's up many feet and has quadrupled in discharge.. And the Niangua is supposedly even worse.. I am going to assume that the ElevenPoint is the same. The radar shows that it hit us all evenly so we will feel similar effects... Good luck today guys, I am headed to the private pond to fill my stock of fresh crappie.. Brian, the wife and I are definitely planning for next weekend. I am going to try the cottages that your website suggest so wish us luck.

First Trip To The Eleven Point...

I believe we have decided that it may be best to put this float off until this time next week.... But I will call you, Brian, and set that up later next week if that's ok.... Thanks again for all of your help, and good luck with the storms... -

Thank you again for keeping the customer in mind.. I too am just going to have to wait it out and see what it looks like.. I know that when I do come to the ElevenPoint I won't need to look any farther than you guys.. FYI the entire reason the thought occurred to me to check the Elevenpoint out is because of your banner ad.. Specialized marketing is a burgeoning industry, but it works! Thanks again, I will keep in touch... -

another question Brian... The float you suggested for us (the trophy area).... How many miles and what average speed does the river run? -
It appears as though the forecast has changed slightly since yesterday, any new input on what Ike's gonna do?

looks like the forecast has changed slightly.. I think the wife and I are going to go for it.. Heck, I got rain ponchos.. Brian, please tell me if I am just insane. Would love to camp but will probably just try and rent a room due to the possible storms. Surely you have a suggestion for a room in Alton tonight? Don't need anything special, but free wifi would be cool.. -
Boat Licensing
FishinCricket replied to mwfischer's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Max penalties for titling a vessel in Missouri is $200 ($25 a month, max is 8 months) and it sounds like by your own admission you will have to pay that... I would assume a Death Certificate and the notorized signature of the survivor of the estate would be all you need... I bet you could go find a 14 ft john boat and buy it for around the same.. Then you would have a boat without all the age and rust.. I perfect titles for Autos all the time (my career), but a boat might be drastically different. If you just have to title the boat then contact a lawyer for a short (preferably free) consultation on the matter and get your exact answers there.. Best of luck... -
This news bodes well for your trip Mark, but not so much for mine, which would be a sunday trip... Good news is that I am not 4 hours away, I guess... Sure does look like a beautiful river though... Anyone wanna cast lots on whether or not Ike will move away from us? If luck is with me it will... But luck is never with me...

First Trip To The Eleven Point...
FishinCricket replied to FishinCricket's topic in Eleven Point River
I really have been excited these past couple days while planning this, but I am afraid this pending weather may hae the flow up too much for us to enjoy our float... Is the river going up? Any guesses as to what will happen with the weather over the next few days? My worst fear is that I will get there and the river will be all muddy and high and the fishing and weather will both be horrible. Thanks Brian, for discussing the trip with me.. I am still planning at this point to come down saturday night and probably stay in a motel room.. Do you have a safe place for us to stow our boat on your property? If not I am sure it will be ok in the Motel parking lot... But I don't wanna come down if the river is going to be up 5 feet and running muddy... Do you locals mind keeping me informed over the next 24 hours..? -

Someone told me that you were the man, glad to see that their trust was well founded.. I will discuss with the wife and call you... -
Wanting to bring the john boat and trolley motor down and do a short float.. Will come down and stay on Saturday night and get up as early as I can and hopefully float and fish all day sunday.. Am wanting to know... The best spot to put in and do a shorter float with majestic views and trophy fish? The best way to shuttle, and what my costs may be.. (Basically will need someone to pick me up at the take out and drop me off at my vehicle so I can drive it back to the take out and pick up the wife and boat) Someone suggested I contact Brian Sloss about this? Brian, are you able to help me? What kind of fishing to expect, so I know what lures to bring?

It's about 6 miles on google earth, but only 4 1/2 miles of actual water... Strictly paddling it's only a two to three hour trip but I suggest you take your time and make it an all day float with a Minimum of 5 stops to wade/anchor and fish the holes.. Here's some suggestions.. 1. Previous suggestion: put in up next to the park and fish the first 1/2 mile (to the long hole past the public access, below the bridge) 2. Once you get 100 yards past the last boat ramp at the public access you will be in a massive, slow flowing hole that looks like heaven for smallies... Put up your poles and move on... Don't take em back out for almost a mile.. While those holes look great and may yeild a few, there's better action downstream.. 3. 1 1/2 miles downstream from the access you will see a cabin on the right side and a beautiful camping spot on the left with a 100 yard set of riffles just below it. Fish the mudbank below the cabin (me and that 2 lb smallie have a history, so please put him back) and then hit that entire riffle set. Surely I don't have to insruct on how to fish a riffle set, but I will mention that every riffle from this point to NRO will yeild something.. Also the head of every riffle harbors one smallie and one brownie that will hit on crawdads swimming DOWNSTREAM (one would assume they would hit a wet fly as well) 4. Once you've had your fill of the cabin area, head on downstream about two miles (fishing the riffles hard) and you will find a split in the stream. This split separates the river for about 1/2 mile.. The left side is the side to float (it's wider and looks much more inviting) and the right side is deadly for rainbows and smallies. I might suggest leaving the boat upstream and floating the left side, as the right side may be gummed up from the recent flooding.. 5. Where the stream comes back together they strike each other at odd angles and create a swirl that is very dangerous. Some of the most entertaining moments this summer for me was watching people tip in that swirl and get taken for a ride.. 6. That swirl is 500 yards upstream from NRO. The entire area between the swirl and NRO yields some bigger fish, particularly the swift area just below the swirl. I have anchored there and caught 25 trout without moving the boat. 7. Lastly, at NRO, wade out in the riffle right in front of the takeout and fish close to the right bank, under the trees. Please come back and let me know if my advice helped.. Good luck...
-
yoou definitely want to do NRO as the takeout.. If you make it a Sunday I may tag along and show you all my "special" spots... Either way make sure you put in above the public access (at the boat ramp by the wooden bridge) so you can hit the area where the spring enters the river.. They stock this spot with lunkers on occassion. My number is listed below if you need anything else... GL

The best advice would be to pour through all the posts in each forum that you plan to fish (IE go to the mermac sub-forum and read all the fishing reports). You can even pull up and read archive threads by usuing the search tool.

FYI the Bennett gauge is down to 2.5 ft and the discharge is going down quite a bit.. The open river is still up quite a bit..
-
No, I didn't... It's in the plans but I have been pretty busy with work and family... It's birthday season amongst my nieces and nephews and the Laclede Literacy council's charity events are all on my plate at once.. Then GM comes along and announces Employee Pricing.. So works been picking up too.. I appreciate you following up on the advice though..

What Kind Of Fly Fisher Are You?
FishinCricket replied to jjtroutbum's topic in General Angling Discussion
So apparently I am a trout bum as well, though fishing guide did take a very close second... -
I went thursday evening after the rains came through.. the water was rising quite a bit (and was already pretty high) and there was grass floating all over, so getting a lure down and keeping it down was pretty hard... I ended up just below the spillway in zone two and limited out.. But it took about three hours, which is highly unusual for me... I was using a white and red rooster tail... I know, I was gut fishing.. But I was catching, wasn't I? thanks for the update Bob.. Next time you want to try the river let me know and I can put you in the front of my boat...

I'm just glad I'm not the only one testing while they are fishing... I did find a cool app for my phone that proves to my wife that I can type 30 wpm on this touch screen.. All the free games and apps (level, scoreboard, tetris, misc. Utilities, etc) are just awesome... But they got the marketing right, cause I can't wait to start buying apps (like thedyno that uses the built in accelerometer)!!!!

Just got my new Iphone and immediately took off for the Osage. I am standing right next to the dam and the net is working great! The number of things I have done in just the past few hours is astounding. Anybody else got one of these things? Speak up.
