  1. Well fished the open day and the day after, snagging one really good one on opening day about 60 pound plus, and had an even bigger one on that Sunday, but it took off and almost jerked my client out of the boat, we chased it and it finally won the battle, got itself hung up in a tree and we could not get it back out, we could feel it shaking it's head and diving down, but had to break it off once it got in the tree. Besides that seen alot of smaller fish being taken, but nothing really big as of now. Kinda strange, alot of guys had nothing then there were a few that had 4 and 5 hanging from there boat and everyone was snagging in the same places?? Biggest I seen was about 70 pounds and only one of those. Everything else was in the 30 pound range. Good Fishing Everyone Capt. Don House
  2. tkite, well snagging is alittle better on Truman, but I feel we have bigger fish and not as much pressure. And the divorce is not my doing, you just have to go buy her something also, works for me!! Good Fishing Capt. Don
  3. Seth, it is possible but they would have to to right on top of each other and facing the same way, the shadow shows one fish (Nose and Tail Fin) anything is possible. I can tell depth both ways.. I just split the screens.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  4. Ok, guys here is one that really makes me scratch my head, Not as to what it is but how big was this one!! We are zoomed in but look at the shadow it is making.. The Fish is facing to the top of the screen Look at the shadow shows the nose and tail pretty good, this fish is a monster, right before we marked this fish a guy right in front of us hooked one with a Fat Free Shad Crankbait, got it to the boat was well over 60 plus pounds, grabbed the fish by the nose and the fish slapped it's tail and it was over. This picture you can see two fish plus two more in the upper left hand side. The fish on the right bottom you can even see the shadow of the fish very well. Webfreeman as to answer the question about screen captures yes we can, this unit saves the data or snapshots to a SD card , so when I GPS a spot the unit saves the GPS information and snaps a picture of what ever screen I'm looking at. I can even record screen inputs to video, I can record say a school of bass in a feeding frenzies, or fish eating my drop shot, spoon anything vertical or visible in the transducer cone. Pretty cool technology. These pictures came on a SideImaging Trip I had on Thursday, sole purpose was to see spoonbill on the SI Unit, worked very well.. Will get some more pictures and hopefully some pictures of the spoonies we catch! See everyone out there. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  5. Was able to run up the James yesterday with a client looking for spoonbill with the SI Unit, marked ALOT of spoonies from Just around the corner of Bridgeport to past Flat Creek. Spoonbills holding right in the channel and on the breaks. Looks to be a great opening day!! See everyone up there.. I have some new SI Pictures of these big guys hanging on the bottom and suspended around logs if anyone would like to see them I will post them soon. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  6. 50 - 51 degrees at the mouth of flat creek, was up there this morning.. Spoonbill everywhere!!!! Good FIshing Capt. Don
  7. Phil, I pulled a trip out of Cape Fair for Thursday, So I will not be able to help you out with what we talked about on Tuesday.. Good To hear the wind started them going!! Call me later Capt. Don
  8. Went out today myself got a late start and fished from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Fished from old 86 hwy to Kimberling City and back. Threw a stickbait most of the day found alot of fish but still no takes, did have one swing away but missed. That Was it!!! See alot of fish down deep in the 50 - 60 foot range on the bluff walls could have been crappie, but of course I was bass fishing.. Should of went up the other rivers and thrown a jig like Bill. Went out and found the fish Phil was talking about they are there, just there at the wrong time, wrong bait, ect... So talk about really sinking it up! I'm starting to get a complex.. But like always I'll go right back out again tomorrow.. Best thing for me to do is to keep fishing Taneycomo.. Good Fishing Everyone.. Capt. Don
  9. Thanks for the report, looks like the rivers are the ticket right now.. Nice to see someone is catching a few.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  10. coman, pretty simple I use a 1/8 to 3/8 ounce dart grub head with 4" Zoom fat Albert single tail grub in green pumpkin.. Slow roll it allowing it to bounce off the bottom that is a must. Feel for the bait to load up on the rod. sometimes it feels like a rock until it starts to swim away.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  11. J.E did you get that new boat ready? No I was yelling Huck Finn... Call me sometime.. Capt. D
  12. Jay Bird, you were very close... Ok, Number 1 Storm Cellar, you can even see where the steps going down are, looks like the top has caved in.. Number 2 This is a picture of the creek channel with not one but 3 feeder creeks coming into it.. On the right there is a really good hump right next to the feeder creek. Number 3 This is a picture of the bluff walls with trees notice the shad balls and the fish in the trees.. Number 4 One of the favorite places for crappie, this is a bluff bank with a large drop off and two really big trees right on the end, notice all of the fish (White Dots) in the creek channel.. Good Job, I will post some more this week.. Good Fishing Everyone.. Capt. Don
  13. Eric is right on! But also don't forget to try swimming some grubs and tubes for those smallies on the main lake pea gravel points that time frame is right about when they start to move on up! Good Fishing Capt. Don
  14. Everyone here are some new pictures that I took Yesterday on the Rock, let's see if you can tell me what they are.. Upper left hand corner. Hint " Look for the Steps " Both Sides Hint " You are looking at a major Creek Channel " 2 D gives this one away This is another easy one, But a great Crappie Hole! Take a look at all of the fish in the middle of the picture.. I will wait a few days then repost what they really are... Good Fishing Everyone Capt. Don
  15. Jaybird, the install went very well no issues at all, here are some pictures so you can see how I installed it.. Transducer mounting on the back, notice the way I mounted it, right at the dead rise.. Graph Mount on Dash. very clean.. Hope this helps some like I say install was very easy.. Any question drop me an email.. Also I have some new pictures to post here in just a few, lets see if you can tell me what they are.. Good Fishing Capt. Don Goo
  16. RLBROW, well lets see first of all you will be there right at the pre-spawn time frame. Fish should be preparing to move on in and start making beds. I would spend my time in the major creek arms like Brushy Creek right down from Big Cedar, come out of the BC cove and turn Left go under the 86 Hwy Bridge and stay to the right, you will see the big creek arm that goes back. Fish all of that one, if no help then I would drive back up past the dam stay left then go into Indian Creek, or as we call it Indian Point, it is a very large creek arm, start back about half way on the points and look for areas that would be great spawning areas and go into the little pockets. Fish should not be far away. Also try to find areas close to these spawning areas with stand up hard wood. What to use, well that time of the year I would use a split shot rig with a small 4" Fish Doctor in Green pumpkin. Throw to the bank and drag it back to the boat slow! Next I would also not give up on a good stickbait bite also maybe alittle late but it worked for me last year, change up on your presentation from long pauses to short pauses let the fish tell you what they want. Sunny days I like a clown colored bait, cloudy days I like black or green back with silver sides. Also may be early but I would also try a Shakey Jig with a 6" Green pumpkin worm or a small 1/8 ounce jig with a small craw trailer in Missouri craw or PB&J colors with a green pumpkin trailer craw. Last don't forget on windy days to try a wiggle wart on those 45' bluff banks and points with cedars with chuck rock parallel the bank with your casts, or throw into the cedars and bounce it back threw them. Colors would be anything that looks like a crawfish, green, orange, brown. ect. Now if you have never fished this lake before one last thing you might think of is to hire a guide for atleast a half of a day to really see what is going on. There is about 10 - 15 of us that do this for a living, Bill Babler, Buster Loving, Bill Beck, Eric Prey, Timmy Page, Mike Webb, Pete Winners, Phil Stone, Eric Olliverson, Jerry Snider, Chris Tetrick, Rick LaPoint and myself just to name a few, all of us guys are really good on this lake and can help you find fish and show you what it takes to catch them on this sometimes hard lake. Well hope that give you a place to start hope you have a good time down here on the Rock! Good Fishing Capt. Don
  17. Snakem, it was good to meet you also, you and your wife are very nice folks! Glad to see that we could help you out on your graph, let me know how it works out! Good Fishing Capt. Don
  18. Went out today and checkout a few things went down Long Creek into the Arkansas Side of the lake past the Cricket Creek Marine, very, very muddy! Had trees larger than my boat floating by, also there is a large log jam right at the marina, so be careful! Water Temp right now was 47.6 degrees so it is getting there, found tons of shad all over the main channels. Ran into a few fish but nothing to really talk about, found some fish I think they were crappie right in the middle of the creek channel in 25 feet of water cruising with some shad, tried to drop down a swimming minnow but no takers, found even more along the bluff walls on the river but still no takers. Tried four or five colors of 2" and 3" tubes but nothing to talk about. Will be back out again this weekend hopefully they will start to bite for me. Really needed some crappie nibblets and may have gotten a bite. Until Next time Good Fishing or Dreaming of Fishing Everyone. Capt. Don
  19. Thanks for the Information! Good Fishing Capt. Don
  20. Sorry for the Late Notice, I just found out myself today. Plus get a look at all of the new Units out for 2008, including the new 797c2 SI and the 997c SI and the new 1197c SI monster unit. If the weather allows I will also be there to meet everyone. Any questions drop me an email.. Good Fishing Everyone Capt. Don House
  21. I agree with dutch, Ozark Tackle is by far the best down here on the Lake for things that are working at the time, Jerry is a good guy and will point you in the right direction! There is also Table Rock Tackle down the road in Kimberling City on Hwy 13 going towards Branson West he has the Champion Boats parked outside.. Been in there a few times, but not that much.. Worth a look over.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  22. Dennis, thanks for the report! Good to Hear they are starting like they should.. Any colors on those jigs? I'm planning on going out this week to the lower end of Long Creek in Arkansas, they should be getting ready also.. Be up the James here in a few weeks for Snagging season and Crappie.. Right now waiting for the snow!!! Thanks again.. Capt. Don
  23. Bassmandan, 5" is too big for down here, but they will work.. I use 3" Ice colored in the spawn for when the bass are on the beds and then a 4" Green Pumpkin when they are schooling for the beginning of Summer.. Ton's of Fun!!! Good Fishing Capt. Don
  24. Jaybird, glad you like all of the pictures, more to come. Also I will be doing an 997CSI install today on my new boat and it is Aluminum, should not be a big deal at all. If I run into any issues I will let you know. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  25. tkite, yes very well here on the rock and on Lake O.. But you have to understand what you are seening. Here is a picture of a dock on table rock lake, you can see the outline of the dock, you can see the cables, and the fish holding on the cables.. Pretty cool.. Any Questions drop me a post.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
