The 15' Aluminum Predator has a 15hp Envinrude that makes it get. Keeps my freezer Full too. I still wear a life jacket when I run it. If i was to go back to fishing tournaments on a regular basis. Then YES. I WOULD..HAVE THE NEED FOR SPEED. I can't tell ya how many times my brother and I have had to book it across the lake from HOLE TO HOLE AND BACK TO WEIGH IN on time. One day during a tournament, We hit a wave in a 15' ALISON CRAFT WITH A 150 ON THE BACK and you talk about putn a reminder of the fear of GOD in a man. I thought we were going to take flight. THAT BOAT WAS DOING 87MPH. WE BOUGHT A BIGGER BOAT.

No problem. I just hope the rain stays away. IF the weather is bad I will wait and go this week sometime after work or wait and go FRIDAY after work, get my lines set and fish till the Daylight hours of Saturday morning. I just got through watching that special on the weather channel about that tornado that kicked up outside of AURORA KANSAS, ripped up a 100 year old farm house(family survived) ripped up the IAMS PET FOOD PLANT and would disappear just before it hit AURORA KANSAS. That thing was 1/4mile wide w/120mph winds. THOSE TORNADOES ARE NASTY. But yeah, I will let you guys know if I go. I will Throw a message in the morning early, if I go and report back. Goodnight.

Waynebo, I just got back from Silver Dollar City. My parents were in town. So my wife and I went. The James and the Finley River down here are very high bringing Table Rock up. I have not seen what Stockton Lake's level is, but i am sure it is higher with all the rain we have had. I am thinking about hitting Stockton tomorrow with some jugs and limb lines. Maybe even a trot line. I will probably start out with Liver or if the shad are easy to find, then I will CAST NET them. Or catch some little BLUEGILL. Cats love the way they smell. We also caught some 7 and 8 lb bass last year. I hate it when that happens, but that is the way nature is. On my jugs. I have my lines at different depths. As the summer progresses. The water heats up pretty hot and we start fishing deeper. We had a heat wave for one week last year on the upper James River arm of Table Rock and our blue gill that were alive on our lines at 15ft were dead within one hour. They usually last all night and into the day when it is cooler during the days. This is Saturday evening right now at 7pm and The Weather Channel just said 80%chance of rain tomorrow for Sunday. THE 15'ALUMINUM PREDATOR DOES NOT LIKE LIGHTNING AT ALL. I guess I will think about it and watch the weather tonight. If anyone goes tomorrow be careful. Oh yea, when you are checking your jug lines or trot line or limb lines. Please always VERY VERY IMPORTANT.....USE YOUR PADDLE FIRST TO CHECK YOUR LINE.....I HAVE GRABBED A WATER SNAKE IN LOUISIANA BEFORE. SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME WHEN I WAS 15 YEARS OLD. AND I CANT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE HAD SNAKES CURLED UP NEAR MY LINE OR BAIT. LAST YEAR ON STOCKTON I HAD A WATER MOCCASIN TAKE A JUG LINE FROM 30' OUT FROM THE BANK. PULLED IT UP ON THE BANK AND TRIED TO SWALLOW THE BLUE GILL WHOLE WITH THE HOOK IN IT. I WILL TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO LOAD THE VIDEO FROM THAT. BUT I WILL HAVE TO BLEEP A FEW WORDS PROBABLY. GOOD LUCK AND SAFE FISHING

Going To Fellows Lake...
Predator1 replied to Bill Y.'s topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Poor guy (Bill). Dont worry Bill. You will have fun. I was trolling a spinner bait behind my boat last year with my step-dad. My wifes new $150 rod and reel I bought her for her birthday got jerked out by a Muskie. I think it was a muskie. Had to have been. Pulled so hard it broke the rod holder. I dove in and looked for it in a 100 foot radius. I could not find it. HAD TO HAVE BEEN A MUSKIE that took my Wifes rod and reel to the deeper part. Just fish for those bass and you will catch a Muskie. I got a question. Do MUSKIE like to eat Blue Gill. Cause if they do, they Blue Gill are spawning in the shallows. We have been catching 4-8 lb cats with them. So if MUSKIES like Blue Gill you may want to work the shallow as well. -
Springfield Lake Crappie
Predator1 replied to ric lee's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
I dont know if there are too many crappie left in Springfield Lake...They may still be there. Do you know where Fellows Lake is. I have been fishing there for the last two weeks catching HUGE BLUE GILL AND CATFISH on worms and crickets. There have been several people still catching crappie in 10 feet of water. Also, when I see shad on my radar, there are usually fish feeding on them. I see this on the radar. I back off a little cast over them with rooster tails, roadrunner, maribou jigs or spoons and pull a white bass or even a crappie every now and then. -
look down a couple of threads. I started A Thread called...ARE THE CRAPPIE STILL BITING. The last post was 5-10-10. The crappie were biting in the shallows on jigs ans shiners. They may have moved to 10ft of water. I am not sure. I have not seen a report for anyone since then.

STRAW HAT....sorry to hear yall got the flue. I had that crud opening week of spoonbill season back in March. WAYNEBO...STRAW HAT is is right. I did pretty well last year running trotlines, limb lines and jugs. With all this rain it will only get better. We have been catching atleast 2-4 nice channel cats while we been catchin HUGE BLUE GILLS.
-
You are right about the crawfish. Since they started spawing on Fellows, the males all had small crawfish. The couple of females we kept due to hook removal issues, had those little black water bugs that move around the top of the water. MY..MY...MY HOW GREAT THEY TASTE.

Ain't nothing a little Louisiana Fish Fry want cure.
-
Don't feel bad. I took my old boss last Sunday. Caught 125 in 3hours and only had a few keepers. The small ones were on Shiners and the Keepers were on a 1/4 oz yellow maribou jig and cork.
-
Nice, now I know you can get "Anything" in the mail. Anyone using them around here?
-
I wonder if this cold front is pushing them deeper. If so maybe they will move back shallow. Looks like rough weather this week. I bet not too many boats will be out.
-
I think you lost the same fish I did last week. Berkley has a new mono line out(BERLEY SUPER STRONG MAX)that is tougher and sinks faster. You also may want to check your DRAG on your reel every time before you start fishing. I bet if you would have had your drag set right you could have wore the fish out enough that he would have eventually through his fins up and gave up We caught 4-10lb catfish this last week on Berkley's Super Strong Max 6lb mono while fishing for crappie and blue gill. With the drag set just right we were able to ware out the bigger fish.(They just swim up to the boat and give up). Looks like you had an enjoyable time anyway.

Why do you think the tail was bloody? Would that have anything to do with them spawning? Sounds like you had fun. I seen a lot of 5-7-8lb bass on beds close to blue gill beds today at fellows lake. I would drop shot a Night Crawler Right Slap Dab In The Middle Of Their Beds AND Those Bass Would GO RIGHT UP TO THEM..SMELL IT OR LOOK AT IT And Swim in Circles and not even touch it Are the Bass sitting on Beds not at Stockton?
-
Thanks, We fished fellows today from 11:00am-5pm...real windy...kept 10 Big Blue Gill and 3 channel cats around 4lb each. Seen thousands of beds just not many fish in the shallows today. I have launched my 15' jon boat on a dilly trailer with my Chevy Colorado Truck down at Taylors bridge on the Little Sac. Are we talking about the same time of launching?

Thanks for the report. I am hitting Stockton tomorrow. You guys are definitely appreciated. I see Maze Creek on the Map. Do you get to it from Cedar Ridge Boat Ramp or is there a primitive boat ramp off HWY 245. MstStudent10 Also, great to here you get to fish with your Dad. I used to fish with my dad and hunt with my dad up until I turned 21 when he pasted away from Cancer. Cherish those moments and when you get older like me...return that to your kids, nephew, neices. God Bless, Good Luck and Safe Fishing. Charles

I had a great time on crappie last weekend. Are they still biting in the shallows?
-
Thanks, I might head back to Stockton some time this weekend. Taking the Mrs Jackson to Fellows. I wonder if the Crappie are still doing good at Stockton?
-
Thanks Trav, Havent seen you in a while. Did you notice any Blue Gill Beds in the Shallows while you were fishing?
-
Sounds like a Transplant. Darn things must have followed me up from Louisiana.

Bennett's fish like to swim against the current. Doubt the flood put too bad of a hurt on em. Bennett went and started a gold fish farm after donating the trout farm to the state. Over the years they now supply most of the world with little goldfish and big koi. I think that is how it went. If I remember correctly I read that in a Missouri Conservation Magazine. Not sure which month it was, but I know I read it in one of them within the last 12 months. I read this forum more than my own work. Been caught reading it at work. So what. I like to fish. Maybe who ever runs that company now has the "SECRET TROUT FARM BIBLE" . Try and Get them involved. I don't have their phone number. Or maybe its in the food that cost a quarter. Or maybe they been cooking them up at the restaurant. Whatever the case may be I am still going to take my Step-dad up there next week. After all, its a nice place and I get tired of the same ole place on Taneycoma. Heck if you want to catch a HUGE TROUT see Phil's Story on the guy at Beaver Tailwater on the MY LINK below. My link Good Luck and SAFE FISHING
