That was my experience last weekend as well - that fish would look at the beetle but not take it. Even with 7X tippet. So mid-afternoon, we finally tried a brown beetle, and that was the ticket. The look to take ratio went from about 10:1 to probably 2:1.

Except maybe if the fish couldn't be revived... If the fish is going to die anyway, you might as well keep it.

You want to go again tomorrow? Looks like rain, which hopefully will keep the crowds down. I don't know if I'm going for sure yet, but it looks promising.
