  1. That's okay. The story was priceless.
  2. Hey now...... That might be years man!
  3. Purple tutu......that's awesome!!! LOL! Sounds like a very memorable trip to me. Any time with a 3yr old on the lake and she has fun and catches a fish......that's building memories right there!
  4. NO PICTURES??? Shame on you!! lol
  5. Awesome!!
  6. Nothing like the rewards at the end of a do-it-yourself project. Marine grade carpet right? With the plastic or rubber type backer? NOTE TO OTHERS: Never EVER use carpet that does not have the backer and do not use anything other than quality carpet adhesive made specific for boat carpet installation. Let's just say I learned the hard way 2yrs ago and leave it at that.
  7. No, not Saturday. But I've spooned that lake more than Bill Cosby has spooned jello pudding.... Most of the time, the school moves and the spoon can help push them. Yes, it can work but often times, you have to have a spoon that mimics the bait they are eating as closely as possible. Trolling doesn't seem to be as productive as it used to either. Throwing deep diving cranks, jerkbaits, flukes, etc. There are lots of tricks and I have tried many. Seems the best thing to do is net what they are eating, put on a circle hook and get it near the school but not IN the school.
  8. I forgot to upload my sonar screenshots. They would make you sick. Bait balls thick from top to bottom. Up to 30ft deep. That's a 30ft thick bait ball and no telling how wide. I think side scan picked it up too. I'll see if I can upload a few shots tomorrow.
  9. Oh quite the contrary.... The fish are getting fat on this years high water threading shad. I was practicing throwing my cast net and netted some. A bait ball the size of the bed of my truck was right at the surface and I could see Kentucky bass and whites gorging themselves on the bottom side of the bait ball only 5ft below me at the bow of the boat. I'm afraid they are going to have plenty to eat this fall and will get target lock again. They only want that one source of food. They will eat on it for weeks.
  10. Samsung S6 phone. 16 megapixels. It does have a great camera. And I think the new website does do a great job with photos.
  11. 08/15/15 Quick report. Not much to report really. Bite is still tough. I can find fish, just can't seem to get bites. Took a tip and dropped night crawlers on a split shot rig and drop shot to fish. I know there were fish on the bait because I could watch the fish swim up to investigate the falling morsel of food on my graph. They would look at it, then swim away. When you can't get fish to bite a night crawler on a super small hook on 6lb line......man it's just tough. That or I have not found the banana that F&F hid in my boat. I swear I'm jinxed this summer. Found several pods of fish ranging in depths but most were still around the 20ft range. Some deeper. Water was 84 in PC when I launched and 86 when I loaded. COol thing about a Mercury. Run from Prairie Creek to Horshoe Bend and into a few coves along the way and Ionly burned 3 gallons of fuel. Man I'm really enjoying this new motor. Fast enough to get me there, easy on the fuel, starts in a second with no problem. I did see this at the Hwy 12 Bridge Ramp. If you know this person, please explain to them that you need a trailer to get a boat out of the water. Also explain to them that hogging the boat ramp is just bad practice and discourteous. The guy on the right was almost on the other ramp. There are only two ramps there and when the water is high, you have to know where they are. I guess her lower unit was not important to her.... Fish caught. A fat spotted bass trolling and a good sized catfish on dropshot nightcrawler. I piddled and ran around the lake looking for spots more than anything. But I did troll athe least a mile in a certain area with on the bass below to show for it. It's just a tough year. I don't think my baits are getting as deep as I thought they were either. Which could be hurting me badly. Not much to show for a few hours effort but the traffic is getting better, the lake is cooling off, and school starts this week. After the upcoming holiday, the lake should be back to normal. :-) 08/16/15 First trip for me to Holiday Island. Nice marina, great scenery, nice area. Will definately go back. Ended up taking a boat ride almost to the dam from Holiday Island. Trout (I call them unicorns) were non existant. We saw two fish from 62 bridge up to Parker Bottoms past Spider Creek Resort. Yes, I got a 19ft bass boat up to Parker Bottom. It was about 6-8ft up there and 44 degrees if memory serves. No bait to be found until you get to around Beaver. There was a cool transition in water temp. Dropped from 84 to about 56 or so in a 50yd stretch. That was really neat to see. Here's the fog cloud at the temperattendance change. Bridge at Beaver This is the railroad bridge below Beaver. It's usually way up in the air. Not so much today.
  12. Slip bobber Notropis?

    Today

Not working on my end. But a 3yr old and a crankbait. That's awesome. And rare I would think. She's going to make a great fisherman!
  14. I am not getting notifications like I used to. I'll look into it on my end in the user settings and see if that's it.
  15. The overall format is sized towards a mobile phone. I can easily see everything on my S6. Yep. I can finally upload from my phone. SWEET
  16. I think this one may be more mobile friendly? Looks like it would be. I have not tried yet. Will see.
  17. I'm sure folks will have questions. This is not the best place for them but some folks never venture outside the Beaver Lake forum so why not here? New look. New features (guessing) and I'm just seeing it for the first time myself right now. Thought I would start a thread for getting to know the new look and forum. Thanks Phil for keeping the site going.

    Today

That's a great trip! How did you get a 3yr old to throw crankbaits?
  19. I'm only teasing ya. ;-) Man, cajuns would put Tonys on donuts. Probably already have. But yes, if you use too much it can be spicy. I don't mind it but my wide does. A few sprinkles is all you need. Tonys is good on everything but Old Bay....man that's the ticket on seafood.
  20. Mmmmmmmmmmm........ Panko bread crumbs. Wait.......is that a bass in that photo above????

Lol!!!! Sorry but that's both funny and sad. It has been a rough year for walleye. The spring run just never panned out and summer bite has been tough. I have not targeted them much but the one or two keepers I've caught were surprises. All others we're 15-17". Most on the Ned rig. Keep your chin up. Gall is coming and I bet it gets better. It has to. But it will only get better if the water drops down significantly. If they keep it up as it is now, could be rough fall as well.

Chillfish........ Let's not throw stones. This thread will turn into an all out war and I don't think anyone wants that. Lots of people have left the forum due to wars on other forums as of late. I inadvertently derailed it. Let's get it back on track and encourage people to share reports and engage in the forum. If we don't, it will go south faster than the NAACP lowering a Confederate flag....... (too soon?)

You're entitled to your opinion. And I understand your point of view of it being a nationally debated issue. That is true but most of the debate is one sided and by bass anglers only. I've not heard any crappie anglers or walleye anglers (very rare) complaining about stripers. So my opinion remains (being a previously 100% bass guy myself) that it's soley bass guys who argue the debate. Not labling anyone here.....just stating my perspective. You've said here before on this forum previously that no one will ever convince you otherwise to how you believe. That's fine. I just prefer to follow what Notropis has shared based on his years of research and findings. I also find it ironic as a bass angler, that I get disappointed when I catch a 3-4lb smallie or largemouth when I’m specifically targeting stripers for meat (yes, I’m a “knifer”). I laugh at myself when I catch myself saying out loud…..”Dang It! It’s a big bass!” The irony is uncanny. I always net the bass, measure and weigh if large enough, snap a photo and gently release it back into the lake. But before I do…….. I whisper a secret in their ear and hope that they are not caught in tournaments. LOL!!!!!! Besides.... if we as a nation can feel Bruce......er "Caitlyn" is a HERO in today's society, you feeling stripers hurts a fishery is such a very small issue in my mind. I'm making a joke here to move on, not belittling your argument. In other words, there are much larger issues that are debatable with massive amounts of passion and conviction. I just don't think this is one of those. Thank God that this country is still free and that anyone can have an opinion on anything thing they choose. I'm thankful for that every day. So......fish on and tight lines on whatever your species of choice I say.
  24. Seems to match the norm this time of year and from what I've seen and witnessed myself. As I was walking into the office this morning, I was thinking, "Another few degrees and I might actually NEED a long sleeve shirt on an early morning." MAN I cannot wait for THAT weather. Favorite time of year. Fishing in the cool fall mornings!
  25. Rambo has a lot of submerged trees. With water temps in the upper 80's and possibly still near 90, I'd fish around 20-25ft. On ledges near creek beds or channel swings. Secondary points also. Sounds like the see stuff you read in bass magazines but it's true. I say this based on personal experience, not whatagainst tell me. This lake fishes just like a river does. Just much larger. They relate to rocks, trees, boulders, etc much like a river. It is in fact a river system, so even when there is very little or no current, wind creates a bit of current and fish relate to it often times. Rambo I have not fished in that often. But if it were me, I would fish a dropshot worm. Try multiple sizes and let the fish tell which one they want. Don't be afraid to downsize to a 3" finesse worm either. A Carolina rig on a flat outside the trees may get you a couple also.
