  1. I'll try to attach what I'm talking about.I'm not the best at adding pictures to a message board. One thing to keep in mind in a paper tournament: It's all about averages. We've all seen a 13" Kentucky that weighs more than a 16" black (especially this time of year). We're really keeping score based on length rather than weight.
  2. I'm not Aaron, I'm Joe - But I'll give you the rundown of how we (in the NWA Bassmaters) do the paper tournament.... Just like Bumper said - We've got the "Golden Rule" in every boat. The one we use has the estimated weights on it by length. Each tournament, there is one sheet per boat distributed - Boater gets one side, non-boater gets teh other side. As each fish (greater than 12") is caught, it's measured and recorded. Take your 5 best fish from the day, and that is your individual weight (for points towards end of the year standings). Add boater / non-boater weights together for that specific day's total (that's how we determine who gets the little jackpot that we put together for that day). Before a measurement is recorded, both anglers agree on where the fish is hitting the board. After each tournament, I get a copy of all the papers and entere into the yearly spreadsheet. We send a copy of the results each month (when we fish on Beaver) to the AGFC (I think that's the info that's referenced above). The main reason we elected years ago for the paper tournament was with the health of the fish in mind - Quick Release. It also helps speed up the process at teh end of the day, we don't have to mess with the weigh scales each tournament, etc.
  3. Good evening guys, I put together the info when our club (NWABM) has tournaments on Beaver (usually every other month). Pretty basic stuff that we send to agfc: # anglers # fish caught Tourney hours Total weight Etc. I've got our season so far on the spreadsheet at work if anyone has any questions. One thing to remember is that we do paper tournaments, so anything 12" or over is a "keeper"
  4. Don't forget Fielding's (hiway 264) if you're yeaded towards Hickory Creek. they have ethanol free fuel as well.

Anyone been lately? J-Doc and I are going over there this Saturday. Haven't been since last year. Thanks guys.
  6. Guilty! Just remember whose boat takes you out, young man!
  7. Feeder Creeks: What do you think of when you hear feeder creek? Is there an actual creek in the back that feeds water to a cover, and thus feeds water into the main lake? Is a feeder creek simply any larger amount of shoreline off of the main lake? The more I try to research this, the more confused I get! Could someone please give me an example of a couple feeder creeks on Beaver so I can try to get my head straight? Clifty Confusion: I hear "North Clifty", "Big Clifty", "Little Clifty" - that's a lot of "Clifties"!! Is Big Clifty the first Right hand turn you can make when coming from Rocky Branch and running towards the dam (general direction)? If you travel straight, and don't make the first right, then you get to North Clifty? Is North Clifty also Little Clifty? It looks a lot bigger than Big Clifty on the map... I'm seriously confused and appreciate any help you all can lend. Thanks a bunch.
  8. a buddy and I went out today up in the clear water. tried lots of stiff, but football jig ruled today. watermelon with a watermelon twin tail grub off rocks in 10'-20'
  9. Ranger Dylan Edwards. Story: Three weeks ago, my wife bought a jacket (that matches my boat) for our 10th anniversary. Took it out for the first time two weeks ago (launched from Rocky Branch). After we loaded, I went to the rest room to change into dry clothes for the ride home. Apparently, I left my jacket in the rest room. I didn't notice it missing until last night. I tore the house and both cars up looking for the jacket, but to no avail. Out of desperation, I sent an email to the Corps asking if, by chance, anyone had turned in the jacket. This morning, Ranger Edwards called telling me that not only had he found my jacket, but he had kept it in his office these last two weeks. He said that he knew someone would ask about it sooner or later. I'm glad to say I got to personally thknk him today when I went to get it, and shake the man's hand. So, Ranger Edwards, if by chance you frequent the site - Wanted to send a great big THANK YOU! from the bottom of my heart. The jacket is just stitches and fabric, but all the time and effort put into getting it for me by my wife makes it so much more. I'm eternally grateful, and you've got fishing trips on me in my boat any time you'd like!
  10. Thanks guys
  11. Hey guys, sorry if already posted - I didn't see it. Do we have any guides that cna take a client out and target Walleye? I have a buddy from up north that wants to take his father-in-law out while his father-in-law is in our neck of the woods. thanks.

  13. headed to hickory in a couple hours. will send anything I learn today.
  14. Big end or river end? Thank you for the report!
  15. One constant - The wind will be blowing
  16. I threw a black/blue (very small trailer), and caught one. The rest of the time I was working on my "Biffle Bug" presentation. I really like the Biffle Bug.I must have been throwing a jig that was too big - I was throwing a 5/16 oz..
  17. I agree, and I wish that I would have kept the score a little closer!
  18. Took a buddy out on Saturday 6-2 for about 6 hours. Left around 8:30 am, came in around 2:30 pm. He boatd 9 (7 would've kept), and I only managed a couple (1 wouldn've kept). I told him I was just being a good host! We fished Piney Creek mainly, and flipped to every piece of timber in the water that we could find. Boat was usually in 20-25' of water, but the fish were coming out of 10-15'. He whipped me ona brown jig! sorry it's not muych info, but it's all I've got. Everyone is so helpful on here that I wanted to share the little bit of info I had. Have a good day!
  19. And the first time hook me we're gonna have an issue! Just saying
  20. I'll agree with the tough bite on the Rockthis weekend. Small fish were all I could find as well. 2.55 was the biggest one to visit my boat! After Saturday in the clear water, I did a complete change and took out of Crickett Creek Sunday morning - more of the same. That lake sure is pretty, though, so I'm not complaining!
  21. This will make, I believe, the 4th Memorial Day morning J-Doc and I hit the water for a few hours. Usually we just spend the time goofing off, swapping stories, and catching a few fish. Are the whites active enough yet that we could take a shot at a school? We normally just go looking for spots / blacks, but I'd love to have one of those "10-15 fish each" mornings - if the white have been schooling. Anyone have tips? We'll likely put in at Rocky Branch around 6:00 and be off the water by noon (when the "not-so-to-my-pleasure" boaters start getting out of bed!). Thanks guys.
  22. Surevy stakes from Home Depot, the blue epoxy with the white stuff in the middle, and a couple pairs of pliers! J-Doc's right in that they catch fish, but he's also right in that they are U-G-L-Y
  23. OBBT; Just wanted to say a big "Thank You" for putting on the tournament. Personally, I didn't get anywhere near any hourly money, but even when I brought in little 2.5 pound bass, you guys made me feel like a pro for a few minutes! Great job, and how soon can I sign up for next year's Table Rock event (becuase the rod is AWESOME!) Thanks a bunch!
