  1. I would be curious as to what the lake would look like with a 45 foot drop in elevation, from 701 to 654. I suppose it would look like the white river again as it once was. Thx for the pictures Phil.
  2. I hope you never have to come to missouri again and experience that kind of non native abuse. You must be devastated.
  3. Probably so, but I would prefer to catch trout.
  4. Did not see anything on fly fish taney. Hopefully not an emergency as before.
  5. Hi Dylan. It would allow every striped bass from bull shoals lake to reak havoc amongst our trout.
  6. I think they should initiate an urban wide derby for the largest, ugliest, and the trout with the most lures attached to body parts other than the mouth. It could start on the date of the catch and keep season. All trout found dead must be entered the same day. Partially eaten of filleted will not be eligible.
  7. If I were visiting stlouis as a "toursist" i should not get a ticket for parking in the red zone.
  8. Do you suppose another quick stop will burn if no tagged fish are caught ?
  9. Coming to your local pond, soon. No more making that long drive to the trout parks, rivers, or lake taneycomo. Just grab the rod, the lawn chair, and park on the bank next to your favorite urban, trout fishing, destination. Don't forget the rod holders and the fish baskets. I heard a rumor that this year, some of the fish will be tagged and worth hundreds of dollars. Its like they pay you not to put out any effort or gas money to catch tax dollar fish. What a deal. The lunkers and the 16 inch fish that they did not stock at bssp will be headed your way soon. I tried to make a reservation at the petis county inn, but they were already booked for the opening weekend.
  10. Around 10 pm on tuesday night, Corky and I started fishing at outflow number, whatever they changed it to. They are no longer outlets one, two, and three, they are outflows 29, 67, or something like that. Anyway, same principle as before, water out, and fish in. Fishing was tough that night, we had changed flies several times with limited results. Donnie and Dylan Culver were there and having about the same success. On one of my backcasts, the fly line stopped in mid air and dropped at my feet. I am thinking what the heck, did it hit my fly rod? I strip the line through the guides, and lift my rod to inspect the fly. A leaf is hanging from my fly and spinning in a circle, that is, it appeared to be a leaf. As I reached out to grab it, it had a funny feel to it unlike any leaf I had ever held. All of a sudden it started flapping around, and as I Iet it go, it flew off. My barbless hook had disengaged so I no longer had to contend with an angry bat attached to the fly. I have night fished taneycomo for almost 40 years and this is the first bat I have ever caught. So I am saying that this is the best, nite time, bat fly, ever. If anyone would like the recipe for this, send me a pm.
  11. A great sportsman indeed, I was sad to hear of his passing. John and I had talked on the phone in april, and he was in good spirts and looking forward to a spring turkey hunt. This past october i fished one day at taneycomo with him. Prayers to his family and friends. Thanks JT, for posting this for the others who knew him.
  12. I will try to find that, thanks
  13. some one is telling you a whopper. no requirements about dead or alive. All it must do is outweigh the current record of 41 lbs and some change and be legally caught. If the buzzards have been eating on it, then there is a good chance it was not a fair chase.
  14. A nice fish for sure, great color.
  15. Congrats to Julia and to you Mark.
  16. Hey, I would haul it down to creek so as to have a secure place to hook my stringer.
  17. PM sent.
  18. With it being gated off now, I am wondering how I will retrieve my still and my deer stand once the season closes.
  19. I think cigars brand floro would be a good option.
  20. Corky and I have fished rrsp twice in the past two weeks. Not being up to date on the latest regulations, we decided to pick up a copy of rules and regs at the park store. Mdc normally does a great job on defining the the zones, and describing lures and methods for each zone. Well I am here to tell you, that they blew it this time. First off, I cant make heads or tails of what they are saying. Someone didn't use spell checker before they printed this thing. The cover says "Normas de pesca de Truchas Parque Estatal Roaring River". And when you open the pamphlet and look at the map, it gets worse. What kind of jiberish are they printing about our Missouri state park. It says you can only use solo Moscas in zone 2. Is that something pertaining to rock snot? I didn't think to look at the signs on the creek. Hopefully they don't say things like "cebos de plastico only". Some where in zone 3, think I saw something about chubracabra.
