  1. I had a great week fishing at Taney last week. Even though they ran the generators all day everyday Monday through Friday. We did catch a lot of fish around the outlets where we could wade including 12 to 15 in the 3 to 10 pound range. I did have some bad luck on Wednesday, however. When I left the parking lot that day, I left my flyrod on the top of my camper shell. It did not make it back to the motel. It was a St. Croix, 9 ft., 5 wt. with an Orvis Battenkill 5/6 reel. If anyone found it or knows who found it, I would pay a reward to get it returned. The rig also has other markings that I can positively identify. I have become very attached to this rig and would certinately appreciate any information.
  2. I had the same thing happen to me two years ago with a 12lb brown. One thing I have done since is move up to larger tippet. I usually use only florocarbon 5X or even 4X. You do not get as many hookups but you can land and release them sooner. I have not lost any fish in the last two years. I have found that the fish with the larger girth are the hardest to revive. Kind of like us fat guys getting winded on even a short run. You are fishing for the large browns the right way. They seem to want the lure right in front of their nose. When you get it there, the line weight does not seem to matter. Good Luck
